They do nice color BUT that receptionist has got to go. She cannot add, overcharged me, is rude on the phone, and is completely clueless. She should also not tell clients to make...

Great cut 12/2/2005

I was immediately impressed by the professionalism of my stylist (Tracy) who listened carefully during the consultation and got me really excited about what he could do for my look. The result was a stylish and professional cut that looks & feels great. He paid careful attention to the closest details, identified problem areas and showed me how to keep looking good every day until I go back. Do yourself a favor.. see Tracy @ Rubann. Steve Steiger: Best of the Best 11/20/2005

Having lived in New York for 24 years, there is no one I would trust more than Steven to cut and color my hair. Steven is an expert in his field - all of my friends and family go to him to get their hair cut, and always end up looking fabulous. Steve has an innate sense of style which enables him to understand the type of cut and coloring that will accentuate your features and make you look your best. Due to Steve's magic touch, I now frequently get stopped on the street with compliments on my hair style. One of the best experience in my life 11/18/2005

I walked into Rubann with my hair looking horrible and I came across Ana Mateo who highlighted and put low lights in my hair. she also gave me a balanced haircut to sooth my face. She was very friendly and her sense of humor was incredible besides being a total professional. She even took the time to introduce me to their new products that would benefit me. If theres anyone I recommend its Ana. more

The best I ever had!!! 11/14/2005

My friend found Rubann on CitySearch and made an appointment. She was scheduled with a stylist named ""Tracy"", who, inn 3 hours time, took her hair from a dowdy blonde to a stunning strawberry blonde and all that with a sexy hot hair cut too! One look at her amazing turn around and I booked with Tracy also. HE asked me what would make me happy. I asked to lose the awful brassiness from my last coloring tragedy so he suggested a decadent confection of chocolate and caramel. In other words...the impossiblle. OMG! I got that and so much more....as in more compliments than ever before for my hair which has never looked or felt so like I always imagined it should. Tracy, the Maestro, has made me a life long client, along with my friend, and surely all those who we have sent his way. Pros: Professional, Pleasant, Works Miracles! Cons: Only now discovering more

Superb Steven 11/13/2005

After spending lots of time in the sun, my hair turns from soft ash to lemon-tart! I can always depend on Steven to correct the problems and return my hair to the color I look best with. Repair wizard! After suffering a wild haircut that layered my layers until there was 'no there, there' -- I asked Steven to clean up the resulting mess. My roots were 3 inches long, and there was no discernable shape to the shag. In his usual calm, perceptive way, he banished the root problem by blending the the color imperceptively with the existing ends, creating a completely natural look -- then a clean, shaped cut I could handle with ease. Right way to the beauty 11/8/2005

When I went there my hair was damaged and orange colored becuse of an unprofessional color application of a hairdresser. In two hours, they didn't only fixed my damaged hair but also made my hair gorgeous with their color, hair cut and style applications. They were very friendly and I felt from the first minute that I was in good hands. I am happy that I found these professionals. It is good to know that I won't need to search for a good salon again. It is the best hair salon in New York city...the staff is skilled, knoeledgeable, always working to satisfy you as a client. By far they are the best regarding hair color, using the best products available in the market...that combined with their skills results in the best hair style. Their owners (Ruben and Ann) are friendly, the lighting of the salon is excellent, you have undivided attention from the person that is working with you. I was personally taken care by Ana and she is absolutely incredible, she is an expert in hair color correction, I highly recommend this hair salon for any hair need. My haircolor was a disaster (terrible results from other big name salons). Rubann (himself) was not concerned at all about who/what/where - all he focused on was fixing the problem(s) before him. And that he did, he's a color perfectionist. The highlights are perfectly placed and the shades are exact. Go see him! more

Wow! 8/13/2005

I found Rubann through citysearch because my hair was a disaster and I needed corrective coloring. Before I stepped in, my dark brown hair had been previously highlighted, dyed over with black, and overall very damaged. Anna did a fantastic job by toning down the ""orangy"" spots and giving me the greatest heighlights I've EVER had - no orange or brass tones whatsoever, only natural ashy browns just like I asked for! This woman has 25+ years of experience with hair color, so she is a TRUE expert. The single process + cut is a bit pricey, but well worth the money. I'm never letting anyone else ever touch my hair again! more

Awesome place for haircolor 8/12/2005

When I went in, I had terrible highlights on my naturally brown hair: the color wasn't even and I looked more like a skunk. Ruben fixed my highlights and gave me wonderful golden blonde highlights! The haircut was very good too..they cut just enough. The staff is very nice and helpful. This is a great place for haircolor: as I waited, I saw a parade of women walking out with gorgeous red, blonde or brunette tresses! Highly recommended! more

AMAZING 8/3/2005

I first saw reviews for Rubann salon on citysearch. I was a little skeptical , but I needed something to be done to my dull looking hair, with extra dull and ratty looking hilites. ANNIE was amazing!!!! The best colorist ever. My hair has never looked this good...Never...It looks so healthy and feels so soft...Let me tell you this annie is a miracle worker. I love my hair. It still has my dark brown natural color but with some blonde hilites...the color is AMAZING The best salon ever, and I have been to many many salons, trying to get the perfect hilites.....Definitely worth the trip to the city.. I have now found a new stylist and salon....Thanks Annie Pros: great staff more

I love Rubann<333! Annie did a perfect job on my hair cut and color! It is a different look for ME. Im soo happy! Since then, im more energetic and i feel more confident about my self. The First time i stepped into Rubann with my wife , Annie helped me and my wife find our LOOK that fit us as a couple. The whole enviorment is great! Me and my wife continue coming here. over 10 years ago I tried to go from blonde to brown and ended up with balck hair. I tried two salons and they only made matters worse. Then I found Anne Marie at Rubann and she not only fixed my mess-but made my hair color look better than ever. I have been going there ever since -they are experts on color and the atmosphere is professional and elegant without being snobby. I have sent lots of people to the salon and they have all been thrilled. Go to Rubann-they are the best and you will look like your best-not a carbon copy of the ""in"" blonde or ""in"" red of the season. Their 57th street address tells you they are experts with class, but I can tell you they are also warm and approachable professionals who will not bully you into ""their vision"" of what you should look like. more

Amazing! 6/1/2005

I went there with awful hair, and came out looking amazing. I had originally gotten my hair dyed all one color at this horrible place, then since it was so bad, decided to dye my hair myself....let me tell you....WHAT A MESS I had created.....So I went in for a free consultation with Rubann, he told me it could be fixed and I made an appointment with Annie. Let me tell you all, she did such an AMAZING job, my color was better than it ever was even before I messed up my hair. + I got 25% off for being a first time customer...you can't go wrong. but even without that discount, I'm definitely going back :) Pros: Great People, Great Atmosphere more

Finally, after many notorious and expensive places in NYC but with no real skills, there is a place where you can feel safe for your hair!.
