Best overhaul in Philly 10/23/2010

They got a new Chef in late summer 2010. He is fantastic! We have been there 5x and never had anything but good things to say about the food or service. Being a beer snob, I was impressed with the selection and knowledge of the staff pouring. Some free parking but the lot on Fairmont ave is cheap and close. more

Not a fan of the new menu 4/20/2010

We have been going here for over a year now but took the winter off. We went last Friday night and sat outside. They changed the menu since we were there last and we felt the old menu was much better. Also the menu itself was dirty and sticky which does not make for a great first impression. I ordered a cesear salad which was mediocre at best, it lacked flavor. We also ordered the mussels and the pork belly special which were both very good. We were there during happy hour but they did not have a happy hour menu or drink special. Or atleaset if they did we were not offered any choices. Service was ok but the server was not even aware of any of the specials for that evening. Pros: Outside seating Cons: No Advertised Happy Hour, New Menu more

do NOT eat here! 2/5/2009

As someone who has seen the behind the scenes workings of this restaurant, I can honestly tell you that eating here's a BAD idea! Yes, the food is good but they are NOT clean. Rodents have been a serious issue and not all kitchen members abide by washing hands and other such things. I know that the food is good but also knowing how rude the staff can be and how unsanitary the conditions are is enough for me to put it out there that this place just isn't worth your money. Brigid's and Bishop's Collar are both around the corner and though Bishop's Collar's service isn't always the best, both places have really good food. So does London Grille, which is a bit pricier than the other two but it's still good. Just as a friendly tip, there's sooo many places to eat in this area, you don't need to eat here. Pros: Good food Cons: Not clean, has rodents more

great burger!!! 1/30/2009

One of my favorite places to eat in the city. Great food and a great atmosphere. ""Paesano Burger"" not just the best burger in the city, but in America! more

Been coming here for over 10 years now... 9/8/2008

I first came here back in the 90s when I was a student at Temple. After some time away, it's still the great little gem it was before. Pros: small, intimate dining room, plenty of on-street parking Cons: hard to get a table without reservations more

Service is aweful 6/1/2008

My girlfriend and I give this place another try every three or four months. She likes the Steak Frits, but just about every time, the service is terrible. I'll describe the experience last night: We walk in and aren't greated by a host, we wait several minutes and then try to ask two waitresses if it's alright to just grab one of the open tables outside, one ignores me and the other just says go ahead. We sit at the table and it has plates, glasses and food still left over from the last patrons. We wait fifteen minutes for anyone to come over and by this time we just order food and drinks without menus because she isn't prepared. She cleans up the table on the second stop. All the time this is happening, every other table around us is having the same issues. Our food shows up about 25 minutes later and we notice they bring out Steak Frites to my girlfriend that were originally brought out to the wrong table. Our food is cold and over cooked. We saw our waitress a grand total of two times. No drink refills, no asking if we wanted dessert, how was our food, etc. I'd say it was just this waitress, but the last five times this has happened. It's more of a reflection of bad management and, unfortunately, the owners. I would really stay away from this place unless you want to walk away unsatisfied and frustrated. Pros: Great ambience, outdoor seating, cool interior Cons: Really, really bad service, below average food, food not prepared correctly. more

great location- fantastic food, pet friendly 10/24/2007

My boyfriend and I have started coming here for Sunday brunch. I have to say that the location is great and the food is good. Service is luck of the draw, but definately a gem in the Art Museum area. We have been fortunate enough to snag seats outside. I highly recommend the Eggs Benedict and Spinach Mascapone crepes, odd combination, but it works! He loves the Belgian Waffle. I've also had the pizza always a crowd pleaser. Our dogs have come out on occasion, our waitress brought out a water bowl and even some treats for them. It's just a great atmosphere if you can get out there on a nice day, however I would recommend not sitting by the kitchen- it's very congested and sometimes the staff has a few, not so flattering things to say about unhappy customers. If they can compose themselves when it gets busy, it will be a great place. Pros: food, location, pet friendly (outside), price Cons: at times service more

Hidden Gem, Great find 10/24/2006

A friend told us about this one. So when we came in to the Art Museum we decided to give Rembrant's a try and were very pleasantly surprised at how nice it was. Great selection of Pros: Food, Price, Ambiance Cons: Can't think of any more

A Great Dining Experience 6/18/2006

We went on a Thursday night and sat in the tavern section (not the fine dining section). This place is wonderful and great for a secluded, romantic evening. It's dim, but not dark and not too crowded. The food is absolutely delicious and not at all overpriced. Also, the waiter paid attention to what we needed, but outside of that, was barely there -- we really liked this because it gave us some privacy. Overall, this is one of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time. Pros: Delicious food and desserts, Nice for a romantic dinner, Live band on Thursdays more

French Onion Soup 5/16/2006

That's all you need to know. They have an amazing Brunch and some mighty fine French Onion Soup. Check it out. I would make a reservation. Pros: Food , Cost more

A charming unpretentious oasis 2/26/2006

As the restaurant revolution is coming to it's zenith in Philadelphia with outrageously overpriced food and pretentious ambience, Rembrandt's is always a classic. I'm a concierge in Center City and Rembrandt's makes my job easier. Special thanks to Jan and Angela for making my dining experience so memorable on 2/24/06. more

Lock me up in this place! 5/1/2005

Situated right next to the Eastern State Penitentiary, I would not be upset to be locked up inside this place with their terrific Sunday brunches, cheerful staff and delicious drinks. Not to mention the eye candy one might find working here....yowza!!! Overall , the experience has always been a good one. I recommend you to try the Mediterranean Omelet if you happen to make it out for a Sunday brunch. It is made up of feta cheese, olives and roasted red pepper and it is just fantastic! Also, the spicy grille chicken sandwich was quite good. Don't miss out on this place. more

Hidden Gem 6/25/2004

We came across this restaurant b/c of an Entertainment book coupon. It was a pleasant surprise. We ordered the cheese plate for an appetizer. Wonderful! The crab and scallop linguine didn't disappoint either. My only point of contention was that gratuity was automatically added after I presented the Entertainment card. A disconcerting end to an otherwise delightful dinner. Pros: Good food, Good prices more

excellent 5/30/2004

What an excellent restaurant! All of my experiences have been positive! Great food, great staff! If in the bar ask for the paisano burger. If in the dining room get the special. Pros: food, service, comfortable more

food was good, service was painfully slow 2/5/2004

Went to Rembrandt's for the 1st time ever with a party of 7. Food was excellent - among the memorable items were the duck, filet and linguine with crab and scallops. Service was SO slow! We were sitting around with empty beer and wine glasses for at least 20 minutes before anyone even approached us. I guess they don't need the overhead. I'd go back, maybe the were short servers, but only because the food was so good. Very cute place, ambiance is nice. Pros: very good food, parking lot nearby, nice ambiance more

Rembrandt's 6/26/2003

We've always had an enjoyable time at Rembrandt's. Special kudo's to the chef, Peter, for his excellent work. Pros: Chef, Value, Location more

Fabulous Sunday Brunch 12/12/2002

I recently ate at Rembrants for the Sunday Brunch. I was very surprised how good the food was, the large portions and low prices! That is something you do not find often in Philly. I had a tender pork/spinach/parmesan cheese/sun dried tomato sandwich with hash browns. A lot of things on it but it was delicious! My husband had a large serving of Eggs Benedict that was also superb. I highly recommend the brunch because the music was also very nice. It gets full in there fast so come early! Pros: Great Food, Great prices, Large portions Cons: limited seating more
