I love coming here for manis/pedis because the staff here is so friendly, especially the always-smiling manager who greets every guest and bids them farewell. Because I loved the place so much, I decided to try out their spa services with a facial and a wrap. Both were a huge disappointment. First, the facial: the room is very clean and lit well so I was ready to relax and enjoy the whole experience. Overall, it was an all right facial, except for the rash-like red marks on my face from the extractions that didn't go away for over a week (the esthetician uses a lance to aid extractions). What bothered me about the experience, though, was the hard upsell. The esthetician took a quick peek at my face befeore starting and immediately tried to persuade me to opt for microdermabrasion. I found this a bit disconcerting because a) she isn't a dermatologist and b)she looked about 22. How much experience could she possible have with microdermabrasion that any spa regular can be confident that she won't do any damage? (Note: it is commonly recommended that all microdermabrasion be performed or supervised by a DERMATOLOGIST).After I rejected the micrdermabrasion, she tried to sell me a more expensive facial. This was my first facial at this place so I just wanted to try the basic, and again said no. I just wanted to relax but the pressure I was feeling from this whole "business" discussion left me tense and annoyed for the rest of the facial.
Wrap: this was not a spa experience AT ALL. To start, the wet room is lit brightly (compared to other treatment rooms) and there is no music. And it is COLD. Maybe not if you are wearing clothes, but it certainly is when youare not waering a thing and being doused intermittently with water. Requests to heat the room up went unfulfilled. I had goosebumps until the blankets covered me (about 30 minutes in). And did I mention that the esthetician made me STAND UP in my b-day suit while she applied the body mask? Ick.
Pros: Great manis/pedis
Cons: Not a true spa exerience for spa prices
