I think the physician means well but he cannot hear you if you understand what I mean by this. If you go in, you're going to have a test. In this case, mine came back after more...

I have been going to dr. Burns for a number of years. I have always been very impressed by the way i am treated by everyone on the staff there. Professional, pleasant, caring and efficient. What more could you ask for? I have been helped several times by the phonenurse email system for issues with prescriptions. Always promt with responses and able to solve issues with the stupid ins company in a hurry.\r \r Highly recommended.\r \r RW more

We found Pro-Partners in 2010, looking for a way to get our management team in better shape and help set a good example for our company. It has ended up being one of the best decisions we made. Our team (about 6-8 of us) have lost weight, started execising more consistently, tracking what we consumed, etc. We've become more aware of health risks, more educated on doing things that we should to keep ourselves around for a while. It's become a bit of an internal competition...who will have the best cholestorol scores, lowest blood pressure-best VO2 scores. And as such, we're in better shape and we're getting close to being able to walk the talk-if you will, with our employees. This is the place to go for busy men. Easy scheduling, professional and friendly staff. They'll see you same day if you desire that. Myself and my team strongly endorse Pro-Partners. It's help turn our lives around for the better. Many of us use them as our primary care docs now. more

Incompetent! They made a very serious error on my medical report that I paid $415 out of pocket for. When I called to have them correct it, they refused. I would have to come in and see the Dr. (+$40 copay) to correct THEIR mistake. STAY AWAY more

TRUST ME! AVOID THIS PRACTICE AT ALL COST!!! 3/6/2012

Worst doctor ever!!! Please read this and don't waste your time and money going to these money hungry doctors. I was looking for a general physician and had a number of issues that I wanted to talk to a doctor about, namely my strong family history of heart attacks and what I can do to stay on top of my health. Needless to say, during my first visit, the doctor told me that they will only deal with one problem at a time and that if I wanted to talk to him about another problem, I would have to schedule another visit! The audacity of this doctor! The doctor did 1 blood test, prescribed me medication (that I read is not recommended for people with potential heart issues) and told me to come back in 1 week to get my test results and to talk about my next issue... oh, did I mention the doctor didn't even listen to my heart after telling him I've been having chest pain! I guess that would've been looking at more than 1 thing at a time. I left the office feeling so used and taken adva more

ProPartnersMD Best Practice for Men 2/15/2012

Dr. Burns and Holbrook do an outstanding job of recognizing the unique needs men have of their primary care physician. The surroundings are awesome, full gym, modern furniture and the look of a practice where people are competent and organized. The staff is always professional, courteous and never have I had a less than ideal encounter with anyone there. Burns and Holbrook are unique physicians. Rather than serving the entire family they see male patients exclusively. Therefore, their knowledge and experience dealing with male problems is by far the best anywhere in the KC metro area and their milestone health assessments are not one-size-fits-all, but cater to the unique health issues of each male patient. Larry is an awesome trainer and assisted me in designing a workout regimen that fit my needs, my bad shoulder, my bum knee but yet stretched me to the point of exhaustion. more

Caring Professionals 2/7/2012

Dr. Troy Burns and the ProPartners team are truly caring professionals who have taken the time to help me stay healthy. My experience has been nothing but positive. I have and will continue to recommend this practice to any male that is either looking to improve their health or dealing with current health issues. ProPartners is truly Professional! more

Not caring or concerned?????? Hog wash!!!!! 1/23/2012

After reading some of these comments I could not help but make my own. I have visited Pro Partners for many years and have never been treated in a manner that is not at all consistent with these comments. I personally have nothing but glowing reports and comments for Dr. Troy Burns and the staff at Pro Partners. \r My recommendation to anyone who has had sub par or less than expected service from any business is to address it with them so that they can correct/address the situation. more

Uncaring, unconcerned 1/11/2012

I may have written a positive review for ProPartnersMD originally, but an event during my last visit has ensured I will not be giving this practice my business again. On my most recent visit, I scheduled a physical, and also noted on the phone that I wanted to speak to the doctor about possibly getting on an anti-depressant. When it came time to discuss my symptoms to the doctor, I essentially poured my heart out. I told him everything I had been feeling, the issues I've been having, the fact that I've tried counseling, etc. The response? ""Well, if you keep feeling that way, just come back in for another visit."" That was it. Could I have gotten more of a cold, uninterested response? I needed help. I didn't need it later, I needed it then. And instead I got a cold shoulder and a complete lack of concern for a serious issue I was having. Even if he didn't want to immediately prescribe medicine, the least he could have done was be conversational, ask me questions, give me advice or even refer me to someone who might be able to help better. But no. I got nothing. I left the office livid, upset, and torn over the fact that I had made a legitimate effort to receive help and was blown off. And as a guy, I had serious trepidation about discussing depression, because it made me feel weak. The doctor's reaction made me feel even weaker, and stupid. I won't be going back to ProPartnersMD, ever. It's not that hard to give a physical to somebody. A physician sets themself apart by providing care in instances like mine, where other circumstances require a little extra. I didn't get a little extra. I didn't get anything. Avoid at all costs. more

Stay Away from this Practice 12/28/2011

This paractice is only about MONEY! They charge more than double any other Doctor I have visited for the same check-ups and their billing practice is horrendous - you never know what you will be billed and they regularly add charges after the fact. They also fail to fulfill their advertised same day appointments -they told me to go to a minute clinic because they could not get me in for 2 days - and I was one of their regular patients! I have no problem paying for what is agreed, but they seem to add additional procedures and tests just to increase their income. more

I think the physician means well but he cannot hear you if you understand what I mean by this. If you go in, you're going to have a test. In this case, mine came back after more than a week when I asked how long would it take to begin with, hmm about 2 days. Well, if it did or didn't that is when the chaos began. I informed that it might not be a good idea since I already do not feel good and that is not the reason I was there to begin with, it had nothing related to my visit but informed, it was likely to interfere and it sure did. Constant call to come in and when I was able to answer, an office mgr whose name is Vanessa was the most rude I have ever experienced from a medical office- 1st time in my life. Just avoid this place and move on. The office is attractive but the service which is why you're there to begin with is beyond acceptable. more

I like this place 8/3/2011

I have read the comments from the majority of users and I disagree.\r \r I have gone in for routine check-ups, cholesterol maintenance, sprained wrists (xray done at the office and shown to me right away) and the normal things in life, I even did a milestone. Everything is explained to me in a manner I like. I like efficient, and I appreciate the fact that they budget the doctors time so he does not get behind schedule because somebody wants to go in for a physical and then discuss 3 other medical issues but did not set an appointment for it. As a matter of fact I am going in today for a check up. I also stated I needed a form filled out for my wife's works vitatlity system. I appreciated that the scheduler telling me to bring the form with me to be filled out as I go, or there would be a charge. That is what I call attention to detail, not trying to push the billing up.\r \r I have waited in an office before and walked out. Dr. Burns has recommended tests and just like when I go to the dentist, I always ask how much. I have found the office very willing to talk about the price of services and what your insurance company will/will not pay for. That being said, if you do not stay on top of your bill, you can have problems like anywhere else; personally I have found the billing to be fine. (I pay out of pocket over 900 in medical expenses for my wife a month, I understand the monster this country has created.) more

This place is a joke 7/11/2011

All they care is about the $$$ not the patients...I'm finding a new provider cause I hated my experience at their office...Always trying to seel you something, even if you don't need it....Pathetic!!! more

5 minute consultation = $135?!?!?! 6/7/2011

I went to Pro Partners with high hopes as I had heard that they are the only place designed just for men. I went in with neck pain, was seen by the nursing staff long enough to have my vitals taken, Hy Vee does that for free, and then I waited in my patient room for 25 minutes watching as the two doctors shot the breeze the whole time while I waited for no good reason, my time must not be worth much...When the doctor finally came in the room he never once made eye contact with me due to his awkwardness, he never touched me, asked me approximately 5 questions about my neck pain, and then told me to get an MRI. The bad service continued however. This appointment was in November. I just received my first bill from them yesterday, In JUNE. The bill indicates that they filed with insurance in March and due to them filing so late I get no discount negotiated by my insurance carriers, which is convenient for this establishment because now I have to pay the full $135 instead of the discounted $75. Thank you all at Pro Partners MD for being the con artists you are. I will never go back here except to contest this bill. more

Avoid at all costs 5/10/2011

I went there with high expectations. I was very disappointed. Billing problems and finger pointing abound. No one takes responsibility, and nobody tries to help resolve the problem. In my case, an error in coding something by somebody (no one will admit it) resulted in a $1000 lab bill being dumped on me by an outside lab. Lab says it's the insurance company's fault, insurance company says it's dr's fault. Where is Obamacare when you need it? more

This place is a scam 4/25/2011

What they don't talk about on their website is how Dr. Troy A. Burns was also the CEO / Medical Director of Integrated Medical Resources, Inc. A company that failed miserably, you can do your own research. This place is a JOKE. more

Don't Bother 3/9/2011

My husband has been going here for a few years but ALWAYS complains when he gets home. Office staff is rude, you are allowed just 15 minutes of their precious time - unless they think it could be semi-serious, then they give you 30 minutes. They obviously are only concerned with bringing in the $. Doctor's comments are baffling. Did they go to medical school? Don't waste your time or money, go somewhere where someone really cares for you. more

Go to a real doctor 12/10/2010

On my first an only visit to Pro Partners, Dr. Troy Burns suggested that I start a daily regiment of fish oil and multi vitamins, which he conveniently sells for $30 a bottle to can be gotten at Wal-Mart for $6. A nutritionist who treated me after surgery for a medical issue that Troy failed to diagnose me informed me that multi vitamins are not necessary unless proper food intake becomes impossible. She also informed me that fat based Vitamins such as A can build up to toxic levels, which is why fish oils extracted from fish liver should not be used. The fun continues when Troy ordered a test called the hsCRP test, which the Center for Disease Control recommends against using for cardiac testing except for very limited cases. Of course, Blue Cross does not cover this test, and Troy obviously knows this because he accepts such few insurance policies (always a red flag). When I called to ask him to explain why he ordered this test, that I am financially responsible for, just in case he ordered it for one of the limited cases the CDC endorses it for. His less than polite receptionist informed me that I would need to make an appointment for him, that he will inevitably bill my insurance company for. When I sent him a letter informing him I would withhold payment until I receive an explanation, which is fair because Kansas law does not hold a patient financially responsible for unnecessary medical testing. The less than polite receptionist responded that I have three days to pay the balance or she would attach a $50 ""collections fee"" to the $38 balance and refer it to a debt collector, which she did. Kansas law does not permit collection or attorney fees to exceed 15% of the balance under collection, which means the $50 'collection fee' is illegal and unenforceable. The debt collector works out of his rented house in Grandview, MO. He is about 62 years old, and claims to have been in collections for 40 years. He insists that he 'knows of ways to make me pay in ways I could never imagine,' what ever that means. I have three complaints filed against Troy with the Kansas Board of Healing Arts, one with the Kansas Attorney General, and, although not a regulator but always fun to report to, the Better Business Bureau. Oh, by the way, the receptionist is asking her repeat patients--the most loyal and likely most satisfied--to post positive comments on citysearch. I hope my insight provides some contrast. more
