Worst Service Ever! 1/1/2008

Went for a late night happy hour dinner that was almost 3 hours long! Food was very slow to come out, they informed us nearly half hour after we ordered that they were out of several of the dishes we ordered. Brought out the wrong thing several times and still left it after we told them it was wrong and then charged us for it! Over half of our party currently work in restaurants so we tried to be understanding but when we mentioned to the manager that he might want to pull his stuff together so his restaurant survives, he started arguing with us. We were frankly appalled and felt horribly disrespected. None of us would ever treat a customer the way the server and manager acted towards us. They were pretty scummy. The food was pretty good (not as good as many other options in Boulder though), sadly I will never go back there to have and suggest you don't either because it's not worth the hassle at all! Pros: none whatsoever Cons: horrible service, horrible management more

Great Fresh Food 12/19/2007

As a business traveler, finding good food that isnt the normal frozen, out of a box, chain restaurant can be a challenge. Prima is a breath of fresh air where I know everytime I visit Boulder there will always be a fresh daily menu and fresh ingredients made by a real chef who has passion for food. My experiences have been exceptional service and amazing food. Chef Tony continues to create outstanding dishes which keeps me driving halfway across Boulder for dinner whenever I visit. Pros: Great food, excellent wine list, creative chef Cons: I live to far away to eat more of the ice cream! (probably a good thing) more

Takes the happy out of happy hour 12/14/2007

I work in a restaurant so many times I can be very understanding but I have never been treated so poorly or so rudely by management as I was at Prima. We went to dinner for happy hour, which took us 2 1/2 hours to get through!!! The food was OK but did not make up for the lack of customer service and good business ethic Pros: Food was good Cons: Service was awful, salads came out 20 minutes after apps more

Awesome Food, Swanky Ambiance 12/13/2007

I have been to Prima for several work events and have enjoyed it every time. They have great starters, I especially liked the pizza. I am also a calamari snob, and Prima's had a special twist to it unfound anywhere else. Mostly, I've enjoyed happy hour with great Stella and pizza, but the one occasion that I had dinner there was quite nice. The Duck had a really nice flavor to it and was paired wonderfully with the rice and veggies served along side. We skipped dessert and opted for coffee to round out the meal. All in all, the wine flowed, the food was great, and everyone at our table had an unforgettable experience at one of Boulder's best local restaurants. Pros: Great Pizza Cons: I forgot to validate my parking more

A Must Try! 12/7/2007

I wanted somewhere special to take my mother in law, and Prima was the perfect choice. The atmosphere of the restaurant is wonderful. Warm and inviting as opposed to noisy and rushed. The food and wine were excellent, the best I?ve had in Boulder recently, and the service was great. Visit Prima with friends or family for a great night of enjoying each other?s company over great food. I will definitely be back soon! Pros: wonderful food, ambiance Cons: none, loved it! more

Poor Service, Good Food 11/4/2007

A group of us decided to try Prima for the first time this past Friday night. And while I would have given it 4 stars for the food, I had to drop it to 3 stars because the service was TERRIBLE. Perhaps I should have known better since we went for First Bite Boulder. We ordered a bottle of wine and when she brought the bottle she informed us that this was the last bottle they had but suggested another Pinot Noir. Strange they'd be so short on wine on a Friday, but we told her we'd enjoy this bottle and then have the kind she suggested with dinner. The first bottle was gone when we finished our first course. Then the main course came, but no wine. We asked for the wine she recommended and about 15 minutes later she came back to say they were out of that wine too. Seeing as we were nearly done with our entrees we told her nevermind. Next came the dessert course. I was deciding between bread pudding with cinnimon gelato or the creme brulee. I went with the bread pudding because the gelato sounded so good. Two others in our party ordered a dessert that was supposed to come with gelato, but much to our dismay, the desserts came with whipped cream. Again our server did not come back to check on us for nearly 15 minutes. Most everyone was done with their desserts when she appeared again. I asked her, "I thought the desserts came with gelato? These came with whipped cream." She said, "Oh, I don't think so." But we told her that's what it said on the menu and she said, "Bizarre." Great response don't you think! She never offered to have a manager come out to speak with us but asked if we still wanted the gelato -- um, not when everyone's done with dessert. My friend suggested she adjust the bill to compensate for the mistake. She giggled and walked away. I'm sure she didn't giggle when she got meger 5% tip. SERVICE COUNTS!!!! Pros: tasty food, good portion size Cons: terrible service more

Fabulous service 4/16/2007

I recently treated myself and my fiance to a seven course, wine tasting meal at Prima. The food was delicious and the wines paired very well with the food. The great thing about the dinner was that the staff were happy to change items on the fixed menu for me according to my diet. The chef caim out and made sure that the substitutions he would prepare for two of the courses would be suitable. It was one of the best dining experiences I have had and now I have to try some of the wines at home. The Chambord truffles we took with us at the end of the meal did not make it home. They were too good. Pros: Great service and friendly atmosphere, knowledgeable staff Cons: A bit pricey more
