Overall = Great 12/1/2002

half priced burgers, great selection of brews, and the nachos are amazing Pros: food, drink prices, selection Cons: very crowded, limited space more

Looking for beer, good food, here it is! 11/19/2002

This place is great after a long day at work with friends. You can watch sports, chat, and just relax. It's not a strain on the wallet, which is very nice. There specials are the best around, and the staff is great too. I would recommend The Pour House to everyone. Pros: Inexpensive, Great Breakfast, 2 Floors Cons: Parking is not great more

Great Food, Great Price! 11/14/2002

For students low on the cash flow or anyone looking for good food for a small price, the Pour House's 1/2 price nights are what gets me- half off burgers on saturday nights, 1/2 off chicken sandwiches wednesday nights, it's my favorite! Pros: inexpensive, not TOO loud..., GREAT value! Cons: crowded, limited seating more

best of boston for students 10/31/2002

Cheap eats 10/7/2002

Yes, it's wicked cheap. $3 mexican nights, and french fry baskets the size of your ever growing beer belly, but that's where they get you! You go in for dinner and pay way too much for drinks to make up for the difference. And I don't know who rates there burgers as top ten in Boston, but the Squealing Pig blows away the competition, and I'm pretty sure the poor house uses frozen patties like McD's. more

Cheap in price, not in taste! 9/28/2002

I come here all the time for one of the cheapest lunches in Boston without compromising prices. Salads, burgers, sandwiches for only slightly more than you would pay at your local fast food joint. Pros: cheap, good selection foods Cons: no parking more

Great Cheap Eats 9/24/2002

I can always count on the Pour House to dish up a great, inexpensive meal in a fun, lively atmosphere. Definately worth a visit. Pros: good prices, lively scene Cons: loud more

yummy, cheap, cozy 8/24/2002

The Pour House is a great restaurant, and deserves to become a Boston institution. It keeps its personality as a bar, but serves more than the usual bar food -- the honey-mustard chicken dinner with parsley potatoes was comfortingly yummy. The gigantic nacho plate is wicked salty -- the hummus appetizer makes for a less lip-numbing intro. The milkshakes are great, they have a full bar, and they keep their eye on you for refills. The service is friendly and quick. The dive-bar atmosphere is charming except for the really sketchy bathrooms. The hot veggies are always limp and grey and the salad dressing is bottled, but other than that the food is delicious. The cozy booths are best for small groups, but the downstairs annex means there's room for the whole gang. This place is a must for students. Pros: friendly service, varied menu, great drinks Cons: icky veggies, sometimes smokey more

My favorite cheap tradeshow eats 8/21/2002

Whenever doing an event at the Hynes, I make the Pour House my #1 breakfast and lunch place. There isn't a place left in the country with this much food this cheap (and good too). Pros: Fast service, Cheap! more

A BIG TEN...IF YOUR TWENTY 8/13/2002

The bar of my youth served me well during my tenure as both an undergraduate and grad student. However, upon returning one hot summer night, I realized that you kind of never outgrow the place. Perfect for a date where you really don't care what she says because you can't hear a dam thing. Burgers and finger foods are fantastic. 13 years and 40lbs later the ""Pour Boy Platter"" still goes down well after a Sox game, and you get change too. My kids couldn't sit at the bar. Look for ""hot tie"" waitresse's with names like ""Mercedes"" to DRIVE you to leave larger tips than they deserve or you can afford. Not for the over 40 crowd. A few more pounds and any more lost hair and I won't be able to go in there anymore...well I can always wear a cap. Still a great burger! 4 STARS more

yummy and cheap 8/8/2002

This place is wonderful place to go with friends for an inexpensive bit to eat. Pros: inexpensive, good portions Cons: parking limited, atomosphere dim more

DARK AND CHEAP 7/30/2002

GOOD FOOD GOOD PRICES, TOO DARK, EAT THEN RUN DOWN TO A NICE SPOT NEARBY more

Poor for a Reason 7/15/2002

This place is cheap. I mean cheap. Like, no good. I got a burger and fries and she got a tuna melt. Our fries were limp and tasteless. My burger was no good either, but what is worse is that I had to spit out hard white ""bones"" four times. The service was really bad too and not even friendly, though we tried to be. (note that we did not complain either so there was no reason for it). She said hers was no better than at her Hospital Caf. Man that's shameful. The Atmosphere is just whatI expected, it used to be dive, but now its a little better. I have been to worse. Still I say don't waste your time. Pros: Cheap, good location Cons: Tastes bad, bad service, cheap quality food more

The Best Deal in Boston 7/15/2002

Pour house is the best bargain in Boston. It's a bar/restaurant with food that's perfect for any hour. They generally offer very little service. For example, you seat yourself, grab your own napkins from a paper towel dispenser, etc. Despite these ""no-frill""characteristics, I find pour house a really cute place to dine it. The people are friendly, it's very inexpensive, and all those no-frills are actually quite quaint. It's a very cute place to try. I'm not promising gourmet but, it's a fun place to have a decent meal. Pros: fun, inexpensive Cons: crowded, no parking more

great hangover cure 6/21/2002

the Pour House is a great spot for breakfast. order up some eggs and bacon and wash it down with one of their awesome bloody mary's. the lunch/dinner menu looks good also, though I haven't tried it yet. but this is a can't-miss spot for breakfast!! Pros: great breakfast food, bloody mary's, laid-back more

Great neighborhood spot 5/15/2002

The times I like best at the Pour House are Saturday or Sunday afternoons. The place is fairly quiet and you just take your own seat, grab a cheap eat, and relax with a good beer. Sure, this also can be a good bar for the evening rotation. I find this place to be one of the best bars to go to without the attitude. Pros: inexpensive, location more
