Favorite place for Pho in Portland, nah make that anywhere.. I started out getting the simple Pho Tai but moved up to the tripe/fish ball eventually. Best broth anywhere as well. You have to try it.. more

I'm not going anywhere else. I get the #9 or #11. They bring plate of peppers and basil to rip up well before soup arrives so you don't have to muck about. Great soup, prices and service. Decor is somewhat lame, but most decent Pho places have this same problem. more

This review is for Beaverton Location 7/21/2011

Here is my top five worse things found in this restaurant. - Their food taste real good. Majority of their food taste is from MSG. If you want to ""AGE"" yourself quicker, eat more of their MSG-MADE food. It will definitely help. - Extremely poor customer service. I don't expect good service in typical Asian restaurants as I am Asian who already learned their mentality since I was kid. However this restaurant is worse by far. i.e. 1) Missing item for our food order and ignored the issue. 2) Don't expect a ""Thank You"" from them after all (Female owner is excluded). - Typical Asian restaurant with unclean setting. - Price are higher than average. - Owners get all the tips from customers. Workers never receive any. Not even penny. I am sorry to give negative feedback but I do feel I need to state the fact that others will understand what they are paying for when they dine in there. Better recommendation is Bambuza. They just open a new location at Tanasbourne. They have much better environment, good food at reasonable price, and good customer service. more

favorite resturant in town...best pho ever!! 7/2/2011

I love this place. Its like home away from home..The people are extremely friendly and the pho is the best i have ever had. When i go in they treat me like family and not just a customer... I would love to eat there everyday if i could!!! this is by far one of my favorite resturants. more

Awesome Pho 10/25/2010

Really good Pho, really good broth and tender meat. I eat pho several times a month and this is one of my favorites for sure. more

only eat the pho. 1/21/2009

can't say this was the best rice dishi've ever had, or even near it. it's rather pricey for the fare, but the atmosphere is very vietnamese. everyone inside eating was vietnamese and enjoying a coffee with the rest of their families. the pho was pretty good, but everything else was either hard, or slightly undercooked. more

Not good. 9/16/2008

Coming from Vietnamese woman, their Pho is not good quality. All they do is put lots of chicken broth, msg, and sugar. Real Pho should come from chicken bones. Service is bad. I was waited on this guy who picked up his phone while he was taking our order. He didn't think I was Vietnamese, and was talking about some car sales. So annoying. I would never come back here again. more

great pho 5/26/2008

some of the best pho you can find in portland, low prices authentic taste. varieties of dishes for beginers to cultured adventurers Pros: great food Cons: bathrooms more

a favorite neighborhood restaurant 1/16/2008

you have to try #37, i dream about it, truly! the pho is fantastic, perfect anytime really. my husband told me about this place before we moved here, and then how happy were we that it was in our neighborhood! yay! great place for families, the staff is really friendly, to my children too- this place is like your living room or something. the decor isn't important to me in any restaurant really (is it clean-yes. is the food good (great!)-yes. attentive staff-yes) but if that is your thing then you may need to try somewhere else. we love this place. Pros: fantastic pho! yummy! more

Pho done right 9/25/2007

My wife introduced me to the wonders of Pho - and we have gone to a number of Pho restaurants in Portland - but we always find ourselves coming back to Pho Hung as a favorite. Pros: Great value, Wonderful food, Go for the Pho Cons: This is a place to eat at, not comment on the decor more

So So Pho 8/31/2007

My guess is that the vermicelli here is a better bet than the pho. There is a lot to like here. I like the fried sesame ball with the bean filling. They have a multitude of bubble drinks. The soup however, seemed overly salty, and at the same time a little bland. The atmosphere is crowded and fairly noisy. i didn't mind that so much, but I did mind having the big cart with the dirty dishes constantly being parked beside or in back of me. I will probably go back to try the vermicelli, but for pho, i am sticking to Pho Van. Pros: Friendly service, casual atmosphere Cons: noisy more

One of the best 8/24/2007

Since the place was recommended to me by a friend who's from Vietnam, it must be authentic. I've had beef noodle soup at a handful of places in Portland and Pho Hung on 47th and Powel is by far my favorite. I love their spring rolls and the broth is not watered down. I drive to the east side to get my fix whenever I can. A good trick to finding a decent asian restaurant is to follow the asian community and go where they go! Just be prepared when your asian friends laugh at you when you order the ""Beginner"" bowls. Pros: cheap, fast, delicious, and healthy Cons: can be very crowded, not a good romantic date place more

Real Vietnamese Food 7/3/2007

Having lived in Portland, I've grown up eating this food at least twice a week. It is completely authentic and delicious. It's hard to find quality Pho, especially at this price! This is definitly the place to go if you want an authentic Vietnamese dining experience. I've now relocated to a city nearly 8 hours away, but my family and I still make the trip, when we can, to eat at this restaurant. The Pho Tai is delicious and where else can you find avacado milkshakes? Pros: Authentic Vietnamese Food Cons: It can get really busy. more

If this is one of the best... 3/3/2007

I guess I don't know what Vietnamese food is supposed to taste like. The broth for my wife's Pho tasted like straight fish sauce, and the meatballs were like rubber. My vermicelli was a bit better, but there was very little meat and shrimp. The egg rolls were dripping with grease. Needles to say, we won't be going back. more

Pho-Nomenal 9/7/2006

Awesome Pho and awesome prices. There are few places that are this good, but many imitators for sure. This is a contender for one of the best Vietnamese places in the area. Pros: Pho, Service, Prices Cons: Parking, Crowded more

Pho Hung tops most 7/11/2006

Pho isn't just something that is done perfectly everywhere. There are places that add fancy toppings to theirs to cover up the mediocre taste, but with Pho Hung, it's great, traditional Vietnamese beef noodle soup. My father was always telling me how great Pho Hung was, and the only image that popped up in my mind was the one on Powell, which I had been to before which I found dirty and unwelcoming, but my dad said that the one on 82nd was way different. So he took my mother and me to try it and we were both very impressed. It's tastefully decorated, the service was ok and the food was delicious, but the one thing that sets this restaurant apart from others is that the diners are all Vietnamese. That was the sure sign that it is authentic Vietmese cuisine, yay yay yay! Go to Pho Hung! Pros: Wonderful traditional Pho that Vietnamese people love! Cons: Service is ok more

This is it if you are looking for pho 6/29/2006

My wife and I like to eat pho from time to time. I was always shocked with some of the prices at the more popular places that shall remain nameless. We decided to try Pho Hung off Powell Blvd while we found ourselves on that side of town one evening, and we were pleasantly surprised. The selection is fantastic, the food was well prepared and the taste was phenominal. We only had pho, but we plan to go back to try the salad rolls that looked very appetizing on the table next to us. We plan to visit the other locations as well. This is a GREAT VALUE. I was shocked when I got the bill. I figured it would be low since we didn't really order much, but what we ordered was plenty of food. Thumbs way up. If you want pho...this is the place to go. Pros: Great value, good food, fresh Cons: service was a little lacking, but okay overall more

A must go place 4/6/2004

I go here all the time with my family. It's a place worth every dime. The staff is family oriented, they are friendly as can be. Pho hung has been around for ages. It's one of the first pho restaurants in Portland. Their cheap eats is a win in my book. Pros: friendly, cheap, great flavorful food more

One of the better 6/20/2003

Pho was very good, but the cha gio - Vietnamese eggrolls - were not. They're traditionally thin and crispy, these were fat and oily. Most mainstay rice and noodle dishes were good. Vietnamese coffee here is made the way it should be: in a filter with condensed milk added separately. Their I-Hop style menu takes away from authenticity. The server took my order, came back about 12 minutes later and said, can I take your order. Oh well. Pros: Viet coffee, Pho Cons: egg rolls more

Soul Food 5/26/2003

The food is very tasty and true to the vietnamese tradition (at least it seemed that way). Five bucks gets a giant bowl of flavorful soup with meat and veggies. If youre not feeling adventurous the beef or chicken noodle soups are great. The salad rolls are also a good safe bet. Theres a lot of space so you don't feel cramped. The service isnt bad, but you have to be a little resourceful. You have to seat yourself and get your own bill. At least thats how I perceived it to be. I would definitely come back, but try something different. Pork skin kind of tastes how it sounds, for some reason i had something else in mind. Pros: Good Value, Great flavors more
