We brought our puppy to Petroglyph on an emergency basis after she dislocated her foot and was pleased to find the staff very caring, friendly and compassionate. Being fairly new to the area and having to drive 2 hours to get to the nearest clinic, we were nervous to say the least about getting her the best care. Our fears were put to rest when we realized how great the staff at this clinic were. They kept us informed of what was going on, asked permission to give medication and reviewed the results of x rays with us. They consulted an orthopedic surgeon who came in on his day off to see Spirit. After reviewing her x rays, he determined she did not need surgery but placed a cast instead. After several subsequent visits for bandage changes, I am happy to say Spirit has recovered fully. Our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Hudgell who was so kind and always updated us about her progress after each visit, Karen and Danielle who took such good care of Spirit, and all the staff who so wonderfully cared for Spirit and ourselves(I apologize for not knowing everyone's name). Ya'll are the BEST. more

I was a Vet Tech for 10 years (74 to 84) and loved every minute of it. I actually ended up opening my own practice as an Animal Behaviorist, so I remained on the outskirts of the veterinary community. I knew costs had gone up, and I was aware that, 'the business' of Animal Care had become competitive, but nothing could'v prepared me for the experience at Petroglyph AH. I took my 9 yr old ChiX in for a ""routine"" dental with extractions, and a Rabies shot. I knew she was going to lose 3 teeth, but I didn't know two would be her canines, plus 2 premolars. I also didn't know that it would cost me over $200.00 per tooth! They did unnecessary blood tests with insignificant results and X rays, that I was never shown. Dispensed $50 antibiotics, that made her sick, and $25 pain medication, she didn't need. (I did give her 2 pain pills, because they clipped her toenails so far back each one had to be cauterized.) After picking her up, and listening to medication instructions and, how well ""He"" did, I was presented with a bill for $1,175.00! I left there, stunned, and profoundly saddened, realizing this clinic is not in the business of ""Caring for Animals,"" but in the business of profiting as much as possible from ""caring"" animal owners, and taking advantage of their emotions. When I got home, I looked at the Rabies Certificate and couldn't believe what I saw. My middle initial was the #2 and the Post Office would have return mail, marked, ""Address does not Exist."" If my dog were to get away from me, there would be no way she could be traced back to me, based on her Lic. or Microchip. They called to check on her and asked, ""How is He doing?"" There was one insult on top of another insult, on top of another insult, and every single one was inexcusable. Not a single, ""I'm sorry,"" was said, but the attempts at excuses were amazing. I remember a time when veterinarians, loved and cared about people and their pets. Now, it's strictly a business, no more, no less. more

The entire staff, from intake at the counter, to the techs, to the vets, are absolutely top-notch. The care they have for the animals' well-being is first, not how much they can sell or bill. more

Worst experience ever!! 5/19/2012

This is place is the worst. We added a 16 week puppy to our family and just wanted an expert opinion to insure she was ok. $45 for the consultation; and for that price, they checked her temperature, heart beat, and knees. They never looks at her skin or in her ears. We had to point out the bald spot on her belly, which they charged us an additional $31.50 to perform a skin scrape. The ""Veterinarian"" said that the skin scrape test didn't show demodectic mange, but said maybe a possibility of ring worm. She said she was going to prescribe some ""cream"" medication, but a few minutes later gave us a small bottle to spray on the balding spot. She failed to mention the price of $50.50 for the spray, which really looked as clear as water. The was another recommendation, which we declined for $50. The only thing they did a great job on was adding/recommending unnecessary charges. When we went to check out, the bill was $250 and our decline of the recommendations were added to the bill. Of course I contested the recommendations, and made it very clear that I will never visit their facility again. I do not recommend this business. In my opinion, their crooks feeding on your emotions. Just some FYI... My experience with these clinics are over 10 years having more than 4 cats, 2 dogs, and 2 birds in our family. more
