Great vets. First rate care for our pets. They are unfailingly helpful, gentle and compassionate. Excellent staff. This place is a great place to bring your pets. They are so helpful and really care about your little ones. You can call them anytime about questions you have! I would definitely recommend them to anyone with a pet they love. more

Everything turned out perfect 7/26/2011

My curious puppy got bit by a snake and we rushed her to Petroglyph Animal Hospital for intensive care. I was so worried, but the staff are so professional and knew exactly what to do. I felt comfortable and confident in their abilities. Everything turned out perfect! more

Most honest animal hospital 7/21/2011

When we have an emergency and our regular vet just can't see the animals in a reasonable time, we go to Petroglyph, which is WAY on the other side of town from where we live, but absolutely worth the trip. They are quite possibly the most honest, down-to-earth animal hospital we have ever been to in town. They don't prescribe unnecessary meds, it's clean, it's cheap, and although sometimes there's a long wait, the staff has always been patient, nice, calming, and very thorough. They even call a few days after the visit to check in on your pet, which is awesome! This is also the only emergency animal hospital I have been to in Albuquerque where they don't automatically assume your pet has some kind of horrible disease and run up a huge bill with unnecessary tests, and believe me, I've been to most of them and experienced that quite a bit. I applaud them for their great service and will continue to recommend them to anyone who needs good, cheap emergency care. more

Nice staff 7/21/2011

I went here because a friend worked here. The staff are usually really nice and it isn't too hard to get an appointment. more

I wouldn't trust anyone else with my cats 7/13/2011

I was recommended by my Denver vet before I moved to Albuquerque. The doctors have a great rapport with the animals. My cats took to them right away. The staff is friendly and helpful. They have extremely flexible hours, late evening, emergency, walk-ins and weekends (including Sundays). They also treat exotic animals. Although Petroglyph is located on the Westside, they're worth the additional travel from the NE Heights. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my cats. more

Recommend 7/13/2011

Took my dog who was having a medical crisis and could not be seen by usual vet. She was bleeding continuously through the nose. She had either been poisoned or had a anti-immune response. When they did get to her they did everything. One of the vets brought his dog in for blood donation, they put her on IV's and oxygen. She was there for nearly a week. They let me visit every day and let her out of her pen so I could comfort her. Very knowledgeable and caring. Would recommend them for emergencies!! more

Great, cheap emergency vet care! 12/27/2010

I generally take my animals to Blue Cross Animal Clinic on Carlisle, where they see Dr. Wheeler as their regular vet. When we have an emergency or Blue Cross just can't see the animals in a reasonable time we go to Petroglyph, which is WAY on the other side of town from where we live, but absolutely worth the trip. They are quite possibly the most honest, down-to-earth animal hospital we have ever been to in town. They don't prescribe unnecessary meds, it's clean (I have no clue why anyone would say it isn't, it's always been clean every time we've had to go), it's cheap, and although sometimes there's a long wait, the staff has always been patient, nice, calming, and very thorough. Great Service!!! 11/28/2010

I have had the pleasure of experiencing great service at Petroglyph recently. I have not been there in a while for anything but routine visits. Recently one of my pets became ill and needed care. Thanks to Dr. Hudgell, Linda, Mallory, Matt and especially Rachel. Professional, compassionate, and caring! Thank you. Rachel is the most beautiful person inside and out that I have ever known! more

Overcharged and they tried to take us to the cleaners 5/2/2009

We just moved here from another state. Our cat fell off the 2nd story balcony. She was breathing a litte heavy so I took her to the closest vet. When I got there they took her to the back. I wanted to go with her but they wouldn't let me. At the front desk they charged me a $70.00 for the emergency vet visit. They took x-rays which $157.00. The told me that wanted to watch her and I could probably take her home in an hour. When I came back I got to see her and she was in an oxygen tank. We were charged $48 for the oxygen, $44.50 for the fluid bag, $50.50 for the catheter. Then they told me just in case they wanted to keep her overnight and I could pick her up in the morning. When I called the next morning they told me that I couldn't pick her up because they wanted to do an additional exam so they were going to charge me for another exam and for housing her for the day.I told them this was not okay and they had the nerve to tell me they didn't want to be rushed. I went immediately down there and picked her up. I felt that they were trying to find different reasons to keep her and find different way to charge me as much as they could. The whole visit + all the items + the medicine they gave me to take home with my cat came out to $522.11. It would have cost a lot more had I let them keep her. The only thing wrong with our cat was she got the wind knocked out of her and was in a little bit of shock. My cat also ened up with fleas when she got home and has never had fleas. She also smelled like a kitty litter box . This place was very unprofessional, didn't have any compassion and tried to nickel and dime us. Pros: Close to us Cons: All about the money more
