DO NOT GO ON A WEEKEND 9/27/2008

I heard this place had good sandwiches during lunchtime, many of my friends work in the area. So, I went on a Saturday during lunch. Bad idea. The bread was stale, the lady told me the good bread is during the week. I paid $10 for a sandwich on old bread, with Roast beef, lettuce, Mayo and cheese. Also a small amount of potato salad. $10 for a sandwich? It better be damn good, and this wasn't even close. Big disappointment. Pros: Conveniet if you work in area Cons: Expensive, on weekends it shouldn't even be open more

Best Sandwiches in TOWN! 5/10/2006

I have tried every sandwich place in and around the Capitol and this place makes the best sandwiches hands down. There is nothing pretentious about Pennisi's. It's clean, well laid out and there is outdoor seating. The sandwiches are big and fresh - definitely the best turkey ever, and no one behind the counter will bring out the scale to make sure that you don't get over the one alloted ounce! The sandwiches are unique (real muffeleta), delicious and the atmosphere feels just like home, only with better bread! I love this place! Best Deli Sandwich in Sacramento 5/10/2006

Located in the hustle and bustle of downtown Sacramento, Pennisi's Deli has been a favourite of politicians, locals and tourists for over 40 years, and still guarentees the best darn hot pastrami sandwich and toasted chicken sandwich, among others, fresh salads and sliced-to-order cheeses and meats deli-style in the downtown area. I've been going there for almost 30 years and have gotten to know the effervescent Pennisi crew, their quality food and stary ""Italy meets Greece"" atmosphere. I would reccomend this for anyone in search of a strong Latte to a mouth-watering euro lunch! Pros: Food, Euro atmosphere, Friendly crew more

Just what I was looking for 5/9/2006

I stumbled upon Pennisi's entirely by accident one day, and it's been my old standby for lunch ever since. New to the capitol area I was at a loss as to where to get a delicious informal lunch without attitude, and then I discovered Pennisi's. The food is great. I usually go with the awesome Aegean Chicken Breast Sandwich (try it!) and the mozzarella salad, but you really cant go wrong with anything on the menu. All in all, highly recommended. more

No Credit Cards Accepted 7/8/2005

After ordering and getting to the cashier, I was informed they would only accept cash even though both a Mastercard/Visa label was affixed to the front window. Although my order came to $16, my employer prefers documented credit card slips. The tables in the dining area were dirty and I had to request they be cleaned up. The fruit and granola breakfast was mostly unripe honey dew with a dollop of yogurt, one strawberry and a couple of pieces of cantaloupe. My wife's breakfast sandwich was well prepared. Cons: No credit cards more
