This is a gorgeous location and the servers know what they're doing. The food has been good and there is a decent amount of variety, but I occasionally get sick after eating there. The sanitation score was 94 at my last visit...which isn't horrendous, but I still got an upset stomach for the next 24 hours. Pros: Ambiance, Tasty Cons: Cleanliness?, price more

My co-workers and I had lunch at Parizade on 2/10/10 and it was enough to ensure I will never go back. We arrived and it took 10 minutes to order drinks, another 10 for them to actually arrive and then the waitress vanished for another 10 minutes. Even though this was during the lunch rush, their were not a lot of people in the restaurant and there were a number of staff members walking around. So, thirty minutes in and we still have not ordered. After our food was ordered it sat in the window long enough for all of the soups to be cold. Our orders were not correct and it took two attempts at getting someone over to the table to get it corrected. \r \r The waitress sat our food down at the table, turned and left without asking if anyone needed anything, she never refilled any drinks and never asked if orders were correct. At the end of the meal she said their was a problem in the kitchen and that was what caused the delay...odd considering I saw the plates just sitting on the kitchen ledge waiting for someone to actually deliver them to the table.\r \r The manager also came over and said their were problems in the kitchen, but I just have a hard time believing that when tables all around us did not seem to have any issues with getting their drinks refilled or food in a timely manner. \r \r Dessert was offered on the house as compensation, and that was disappointing as well.\r Cons: Slow wait staff, slow kitchen, managers just walking around more

An upscale atmosphere with a lot of custom metal work and spectacular paintings greet you at Parizade. If we had been there before we would have probably dressed up a bit, but no one seemed to take issue with our jeans. Our server introduced himself 3 times, and his accent was a bit thick, but he was attentive and was able to answer some menu questions, make some suggestions, and he treated my 5 year old daughter very well. The food arrived slightly longer than I would have liked, but not at all unreasonably. The rosemary roast chicken was very well cooked, nice and juicy. My oxtail ragout with gnocchi was velvety and tender. The paella was a surprise miss, with flavors of gumbo instead of Spain. The prices were more than reasonable; I'd go so far as to say a bargain for the quality and atmosphere. I would absolutely go back. Pros: Classy with very fair prices more

Outstanding waitress, excellent food at a fair price. We dined on a Monday evening and it was lightly occupied so our server didn't have many tables to handle. The rosemary grilled chicken was outstanding. My wife had the orzo/seafood/spinach dish and it was extremely good with generous portions., The only problem was we were too full to try the desserts. I was there on a night when they had a rather large wedding party. Service was very slow because of it. The food was wonderful. The waitress failed to ask if we wanted to take our leftovers home and by the time we tracked her down it was too late. We found the place VERY noisy. This place has been around for years, and there is a good reason for that! The lively, unique decor sets a tone for a fun, yet sophisticated dining experience. Our server(s) were all true professionals, and with only a small snafu with a bottle of wine (he didn't hear me ask for another) our table of 4 was treated well and all of our dishes arrived promptely, the proper temps, and were lovely to the eye and palate. Again, I am beginning to think that the good restaurants are in Durham! Thumbs up! more

I get there and the ambiance is great, so I think ""hmmmm this place is gonna be OK"". WRONG! Just how much is too much to pay for food? Come to Parizade and find out. Nothing spectactular about the food....its cooked, edible and served with little sprigs of this-n-that on the plate to make it look fancy. Bottom line, save your cash and eat out 3 times at other local places for what it costs to eat here once. The service was below average. I have not left such a small tip in a LONG time. It was that bad. How many times do you have to ask for refills, especially in the south? Come to Parizade and find out. We had an excellent experience at this restaurant. It contains a very well decorated interior, excellent service, very good starters and entree's, decent wine selection, and some tasty deserts. If you like fine dining, you should not be disappointed. Pros: Ambiance, Service, Quality more

Three of us ate at Cafe Parizade last night. I was bit hesitant because of the somewhat mixed reviews on this site, but a colleague told me I would love it. She was right. We had a 5:30 reservation and so ordered their version of an early-bird special since it included what we were going to order anyway (chicken stuffed with goat cheese, salad with strawberries, and a decadent banana desert). The chicken was absolutely tender and succulent, the salad was divine and the desert was fabulous. As for the ambiance, it reminded us of the Culinary Institute Restaurant in Napa, with an open kitchen area - very nice! We will be back, without a doubt. I highly recommend this one. Parizade is my favorite restaurant in Durham. It's a great place to impress out of towners because it has a very urbane, metropolitan feel (i.e., NYC, Chicago). The food and ambience are top notch. I recently had the salmon, which was the biggest, most seasoned piece I've had in an upscale restaurant. I was stuffed and happy post meal! I am a believer in Cafe Parizade, and will be returning to feast on the tantalizing filet and ""ohmygod it's better than @$*"" creme brulee. My meal was a smooth ride, start to finish. It all began at the bar (doesn't it always?) where the capable bartender whipped up a fabulous martini, leaving me wanting more. FOOD FIRST, I reminded myself, and moved to a table. Wish I could remember the fabulous server's name, but the infinite wine list distracted me from his introduction. Following his recommendations, I ordered. Looking around, I noticed that ALL servers were so well-groomed and in-control that I half-wished they would abandon their tables and join me. Food arrived promptly. Price is no issue - I would gladly promise my next unborn child to the chef in exchange for another tasty filet. Parizade has gone downhill since my last visit. Apparently the rest of Durham realized that already. The restaurant was EMPTY. I spent $150 on the meal; the worst high-priced meal in recent memory. My rib-eye steak was undercooked (the server didn't even inquire how I wanted it cooked). It was cold, bloody, and half fat. I could do better at the Food Lion. The dining experience was 100% mediocre. The only positive was that the waitress ignored us, and we could spend 2 hours talking in isolation. But it's not like they needed our table. I was VERY disappointed, since this was supposed to be a celebratory dinner. The food and service were adequate, but NOT deserving of the price. I went to Cafe Parizade a couple years ago for the first time... it was a great experience. Just went back last weekend, and the place is still first-class. I love the atmosphere - so colorful & vibrant. Our waiter (Joao) was extremely accommodating and attentive. And to top it off, our meals were great - fresh, exciting and delicious. I loved my fish seasoned with tantalizing spices and accompanied with fresh colorful veggies, it was so tender and tasty. I definitely recommend this place to everyone! Everything from start to finish was impeccable. From the courteous hostess, to the attentive server, to most incredible food. The bartenders were also extremely knowledgeable and friendly.
