Birthday Party 3/27/2011

Had a party there last night. Had a wonderful time. Everyone was so pleased with the food and drinks. Good food, good drinks, good time. The only con was the nastiness of the bouncers at the front door. At least 6 of my guest came in with complaints about them. Other than that I was pleased with my husbands choice of party place. more

Such a fun place to go! 2/7/2011

Me and some girlfriends stopped by PS450 last week for Happy Hour after work on Thursday and ended up staying almost til closing time! We had such a good time. The drinks were delish, the food was awesome (the fries and flatbread: yummm) and the DJ was so cool. He played every song we asked for and to top it all off there were a bunch of nice guys who danced with us but weren't creepers. Me and my girls are going back for their Anti-Valentine's Day Party... maybe those guys will be there again (wink, wink)! An awesome spot, definitely highly recommended. more

Sexy Chic Murray Hill Bar 7/16/2010

Dark and classy, PS 450 may be Murray's Hill's answer to the impeccably dressed street fair of the Meatpacking District -- sans snooty doormen. The 32-foot sleek and modern bar, comfy banquets and streetside tables are perfect pre-game before heading to candlelit backrooms. There, you can catch the game on plasma TVs, order haute cuisine or listen to DJs 'til the wee hours. Note: Eastsiders may not find the traditional frat-boy-grown-up here--unless he's playing the role in suit and tie (which suits us just fine). Happy hour, weekend specials and party platters are popular picks. Pros: Decor, No Cover, Good Music, Food Cons: It's still Murray Hill. more

Great Place to have your birthday 10/11/2009

Just had my birthday here. The manager and staff were SUPER accommodating and friendly. The music was great and all of my friends keep calling to tell me what a great place I chose for my birthday. Just call a few weeks ahead of time if you need to reserved a space! more

My Favorite Place 9/6/2009

I love this place because it makes going out very easy. I don't know of anyone who has ever had a problem getting in, and everyone I bring there LOVES it. The music is a great mix of everything. The drinks are not that expensive. My biggest recommendation would be to get a table (which is free to do in advance, there's no minimum!) especially if you want a little room to dance because it gets packed very quickly. The food is also really good and the menu keeps changing so you never get bored! Pros: No cover, cheap drinks, great music Cons: Gets packed very quickly more

can you give this place minus stars??? 4/30/2009

the globe room? i would call it lost in the back of the room. Who wants to sit in the back of an over sized dive bar with waitress that can hardly speak English, She spent more time in the bathroom powering her nose than she did bringing us drinks. If I book a company party again it would not be with PS450. Pros: front doors Cons: cheap english accents more

Overcrowded...pushy...and rude 1/18/2009

Dont' get me wrong the place is nice and the music is popping, but the SERVICE and WORKERS ARE HORRIBLE! When i went there this saturday it was so overcrowded the whole night that it was shoulder to shoulder and you couldn't dance. The bathroom attendants were really rude and pushy... slamming the door in everyones faces. The coatcheck room was very disorganized losing tickets and jackets. The Waitresses were rude and impatient. They have security all over the place which is understandable, but when there is no place to move in a shoulder to shoulder crowd why be all touchy on everyone. I put my coat in coatcheck....gave my ticket at the end of the night ...but no jacket there....they either store my coat or gave it away to someone ELSE! I'm not the only one who had this problem , because they were plenty of people waiting for their coats and they were mostly misplaced! more

Fun Times 12/4/2008

Recently had a large party here (50-60 people), and it was a good time. We had our own private room in the back, which wasn't big enough for our large group but it didn't matter, everyone spilled out into the general bar area. Not too clubby, not too divey, just a fun bar. more

Fierce 11/10/2008

Normally you would think walking into here it's just a nornal dive bar. Far from it. EVERYONE loves to have birthdays here for a reason. Its absolute entertainment. There's a LOng bar, so you can have fun, have drinks and conversation with all of your friends without losing them in a crowded 3 floor club. I have never been here to eat, but i WOULD recommend it for happy hr and great fun. Pros: Good Drinks! Cons: Sm. Vertical Bar more

Non-pretentious. Just fun! 10/27/2008

The last three reviews of PS 450 are B.S. This place is a great mix of Bar and Club. The music is really eclectic (rock, pop, hip-hop, dance), the staff is always friendly, the drinks are the cheapest north of 14th street, and you never have to wait more then a minute to get served. Also, no pretentious promoters or B.S. velvet ropes. Its just fun and not cheesy like its competition on 3rd Ave. It does get a little packed, but the crowd is NOT all meatheads as previously reported. In fact I'm not sure where else in the neighborhood you can find a 35ish guy in a suit and tie standing next to a 22 year old hipster. I go here a lot and I?ve never had any issues with the security. I think the reviewer who said he left and went to Les Halles must be over 60 years old. Halles is a restaurant that closes at midnight. Please... PS 450 is open all night, for real partiers. more

Meat, meat, meat 8/9/2008

(NOTE: All asterisks are CitySearch censorship) Do you like bars that require chest measurements of 50+ for entrance (for BOTH genders)? Is your kind of place one that's so loud your ears b*eed at the music and talk among patrons is throat scrapingly impossible? Does your taste run to a crowd so B+T that even the bouncer at the door is white? (And, by all appearances, a Russian m*fia weight-lifter.) Do you enjoy the scent of so much gym-powered testosterone that it drips from your nose hairs? How 'bout muscles bursting out of every off-white-just-left-the-office shirt with more meat between customer's ears than was ever packed in the meat-packing district? If so, this place is for you! These guys are so big I would be afraid to post this... if I thought they could read. Somehow, this bar wasn't quite our style. We left after 5 minutes and moved down the street to Les Halles. --Drink Club NYC is a roving group of NYC drinkers Pros: big windows open in the summer Cons: everything else more

Horrendous. 7/20/2008

PS 450 is terrible. The bouncer (obviously not very good at his job) confiscated my actual, real driver's license. He would not give it back, and NYPD had to come in order to help me get my ID back. I would never return again and not recommend it to anyone...you risk losing your ID and having your night ruined. more

Shady Bartenders 3/19/2008

Everytime i go to this place i have issues with the bartenders. The first time: my bill was $16, i handed her a $100 bill and only got $4 as change! (I think she was trying to take advantage of the fact that i was pretty tipsy, and she figured she'd keep my 80 bucks!) As soon as I mentioned that she owed me $80 more, she went and got it without question or any hesitation. It was pretty obvious that she was trying to pull a fast one. Ofcourse she got NO tip. The next time: i ordered a Kettle and soda that was very, very weak. so i nicely asked the bartender if she could top it off. she gave me a really dirty look and then proceeded to (barely) top it off with some crappy house vodka! So i had to sit there and drink a really crappy mix of a watered down kettle/house vodka and soda. Haven't stepped foot in there since. I strongly suggest you don't either. Cons: bad drinks, worse bartenders more

Great music, Awesome crowd, Drinks not too pricey 11/12/2007

Went here last Friday night for some drinks with friends. Had a great time - crowded, but not too crowded. Drinks aren't too overpriced, and the music was great. Definitely a good place to chill out and dance a bit. Pros: Atmosphere, staff, crowd, music more

Awesome Bartender 11/12/2007

Don't usually leave reviews but was at PS 450 last Friday night after some friends told me to check it out. The drinks were a little expensive but the music was good and the bartender in the back is HOT!!!!!!!!! -- She kept me and my boys there buying shots all night. No idea why the other two are up front because I would've come in just seeing her from the street ... definitely the best eye-candy I've seen in awhile. Great time out... Maybe next time she will give in and give up her phone number...:) Pros: Hot Staff, good music Cons: Prices more

More than just Happy Hour for some of us... 10/18/2007

I can't say enough about the hospitatlity shown by the entire staff at PS 450. Entertaining corporate events such as Happy Hour(s) can be a breeze with these PRO's. Our wonderful waitress addressed the smallest details, the fruit & cheese platter was fresh...remember it's October, nice touch. The decor was very relaxing after a long day. The music was nice- even better because we could talk to each other. All in all I was very pleased to have hung out with the PS450 crowd & more importantly my staff was "HAPPY" for more than an "HOUR" ....PRICELESS : ) Volstead here we come... ThanX 4 everything. Pros: Location Cons: maybe a more modern line up of songs, because the crowd seemed 27ish - late 30's more

Great place to get sauced! 9/3/2007

Awesome things are always happening here. Great food, drinks and fantastic debauchery. It's all there!!! more

always have a great time 5/13/2007

sometimes the crowd can be a little lame, but when i go with a group of friends, always have a blast. drinks are affordable, can sit and relax without ridiculous bottle minimums & great nachos!! Pros: good music, affordable drinks, seating area Cons: only cocktail bottles available, no straight alcohol more

great party 4/16/2007

i threw a party with 30 people for my best friend's bday, and absolutely loved it! they held the back room for us, and were soo accomodating.. everyone had a great time and the server allowed us to open several tabs, so we didnt have to deal with the hassle of calculating the check at the end when we were all pretty drunk! the music was good, the decor pretty and the drinks delicious.. had a great time! Pros: had the back room to ourselves, seperate checks without required bottle service Cons: became a little too crowded at the end of the night more

Great drinks, great prices, awesome time. 3/13/2007

We were there Saturday Night and had an awesome time. Great drinks, music and prices. The back section was packed all night - I think it may have had something to do with the two hot flirty bartenders back there. Their service was great and they made everyone want to have fun. Definetly going back and recommend it to anyone else who is interested in having a good time!! Pros: Drinks and the bartenders Cons: Food- overly creative and pricey more

Editorial
  • The Scene
A cross between an upscale hotel bar and a super-sized modern lounge, this out-of-the-way drinking den is a study in orange reflected against dark woods. The only light comes from cylindrical sconces, small lamps and sleek panels, setting the space aglow in amber hues. The room's long bar comfortably accommodates five-deep weekend crowds without disturbing insta-couples cuddling at adjacent raised tables. A platform DJ booth is stationed above more curved banquettes in the back. Fashionable table servers sync steps with a clubby soundtrack of '70s disco grooves and obscure Clash songs.

    The Draw
In a neighborhood long thirsting for nightlife options, locals gather naturally. Outsiders have been slower to migrate, but word-of-mouth and the club's egalitarian door philosophy gives reason for making the trip. The bar's sexy interior and party-time attitude attracts a first-real-job crowd with burgeoning hipster sensibilities--even down to the non-metrosexual men drinking fruity house cocktails.
