Horrible Birthday!! 9/11/2005

PS 450 is a horrible place for a birthday party. My boyfriend and I had our birthday here this weekend, we called a MONTH prior to reserve and was the FIRST to reserve for 50 people. We got there that night to a tiny space that we had to SHARE with two other groups - we got pushed and shoved. We tried to speak to the management and they did not care. Half our friends also could not get in due to the 45 minute wait at the door and the bouncer did not care that they were there for a party - when we were told ALL our guests would be there. Beside the music and our waitress, it was a let down. more

PS 450 - Great Choice When No One Else Is Around 9/9/2005

Its a really chill lounge before the calvary comes in and packs this place so tight that bodies automatically rub each other just walking from each side of the room. The prices are nice, as are the drinks, but avoid this place on the weekends if you care about space. Pros: Drinks, Atmosphere Cons: Crowded more

Great Birthday Party! 8/8/2005

I just had my birthday party at PS 450 on Friday night. They don't do guest lists so I was worried that everyone wouldn't get in. Some of my friends had to wait a little bit, but that was no big deal. The DJ was great too - He played everything you wanted to hear without it being too Top 40. Like some of the other reviews say, it does get crowded but that's NYC. I would definitely go back and tell my friends to have their parties there too. Pros: Good Crowd, Good Music Cons: A Little Crowded more

good after-work crowd... 8/3/2005

i organized a casual get-together with a bunch of disparate friends and it was the ideal place to meet up. i wanted a place where people could feel comfortable mingling around if they didn't necessarily know anyone else, and where people could also have the option of going to dinner nearby if they wanted. PS 450 is ideal. you have a good built-in work crowd from the new york life/credit suisse/ziff davis crowd around the area, plus it's a stone's throw from murray hill, so you can go a little more upscale but still not lose the relatively youthful crowd that you would find on third ave. on top of that, you have some great restaurants nearby--les halles, blue smoke, houston's, i trulli, dos caminos, and then all the great restaurants further down park avenue south as you get towards union square. there's some decent bar food, as well. Pros: reasonable prices, built-in crowd, good-looking people Cons: a little crowded more

No BS great lounge 7/30/2005

no lists and you don't have to buy a bottle or anything like that. none of the usual nyc bs. the place is more like a big lounge than a club. great menu (they serve food late) great music and a really good looking crowd. Pros: no bs, cool vibe, not expensive at all more

had a blast!!! 7/21/2005

i had my boyfriends birthday party there and everyone had a great time. the staff bent over backwards for us and they were all really really sweet. the music was great and the back room is cool. i totally recommend it. Pros: staff, music, back room more

Poor Management 7/9/2005

I will be very unbiased on this review. The atmosphere was excellent here. The drinks were good. Although I did not order any food, my buddy ordered some sliders and they looked great to eat. My only problem with this place was that the owner SUCKS. He has no class and for that reason, I would never frequent this place again. The reason being, he was very rude to my girlfriend and I. There are too many bars in NYC for me to come back again. more

Fabulous 6/10/2005

PS 450 is wonderful. The food is amazing, and the drinks and staff are great. I highly recommend this place. Pros: Food & Drinks, Atmosphere, Staff more

check out the back area! 5/30/2005

The food is definitely amazing. The drinks are poured right too. There is a back room to rent out which is FREE where you get not only the privacy, but also the cool option of getting your fav. mixed drink mixed to perfection and bottled so that you can sit and refill at your leisure. Very cool option. Only unfortunate aspect is the location. Pros: scrumptious platters, Good barkeepers Cons: Location more

ps450 is an oasis in the desert 5/21/2005

In the unlikely location of Park Av S and 31st St comes ps450, a dark, sleek and very cool looking space that was an instant hit in this neighborhood virtually devoid of nightlife. The drinks are expertly made and delivered by waitresses who are amazingly attractive and friendly. Female patrons (and some of us guys) will enjoy spying on the hunky owners/managers who look like they just stepped off the fashion runways of Milan. The big shocker here is the food. Small bites like the amazing sliced steak over creamy spinach on toasted bread or larger ones like burgers or bbq pulled pork are winners. Not a bad item on the menu. A DJ spins tunes and there's plenty of seating up front at high tables or back in the lounge on banquettes. Get there early as it is now destination, not just a neighborhood hangout. Pros: great staff, great food, cool space Cons: often way packed, dull neighborhood, little signage more

  • The Scene
A cross between an upscale hotel bar and a super-sized modern lounge, this out-of-the-way drinking den is a study in orange reflected against dark woods. The only light comes from cylindrical sconces, small lamps and sleek panels, setting the space aglow in amber hues. The room's long bar comfortably accommodates five-deep weekend crowds without disturbing insta-couples cuddling at adjacent raised tables. A platform DJ booth is stationed above more curved banquettes in the back. Fashionable table servers sync steps with a clubby soundtrack of '70s disco grooves and obscure Clash songs.

    The Draw
In a neighborhood long thirsting for nightlife options, locals gather naturally. Outsiders have been slower to migrate, but word-of-mouth and the club's egalitarian door philosophy gives reason for making the trip. The bar's sexy interior and party-time attitude attracts a first-real-job crowd with burgeoning hipster sensibilities--even down to the non-metrosexual men drinking fruity house cocktails.
