Please learn from our mistake with Neil Ingram!! 8/25/2011

We are a small electrical company and we hired by Neil Ingram, Stuart Components, to do their electrical work. This company seemed to have plenty of work and we needed the work. They now owe us over $12,000.00 and have subsequently filed bankruptcy and left us holding the bag. We owe numerous supply houses for material and our employees. This has put us in a terrible situation. Mr. Ingram also wrote us a bad check and has lied to us throughout the entire time we worked for him. He even went so far as to tell us that he was going to pay us out of his own personal money...never happened. He also protrays himself and his company as being a Christian organization, well I have never encountered any Christians of this magnitude and hope I never do again. We trusted this man and his company and were caught between a rock and a hard place. We needed work and continued to do the work he gave us and also gave him top priority and now are left trying to figure out how to pay for all of the jobs we financed for Neil Ingram and Stuart Components. This man is a total liar and con artist. I notice that he has a comment listed here as well stating that his company is A+ rated with the BBB, which is also a complete lie. If you look up Stuart Components on the BBB's website you will see in red letters and all caps that Stuart Components is not accrediated by the BBB. I can only pray that at some point Neil Ingram will gain a conscious and try to make right all the hardships he has caused people. I would never get involved in any business he has ANY connection with. Any reviews posted here that are positve in any way have to be written Neil Ingram or his family!! more

Stuart Components Bankrupt? 8/13/2011

We hired Stuart Components. Their work is terrible. Most importantly, Neil Ingram is a liar. He lied to me and made me pay more money 1 week before he declared bankruptcy. The job is not finished and I'm left holding the bag. He was taking deposits for jobs 2 weeks before declaring bankruptcy that he knew he would not be able to complete. He took more money from me 7/27/11 assuring me he would, ""of course finish the job."" According to his workers and subs, he has declared bankruptcy as of 8/1/11. more

A Message from the Owner 7/19/2011

People have written both good and bad about us in this column. Let's try to add some facts to the discussion. Since 2007, when this list started, we have done a little over 400 jobs. You can count the number of complaints that are listed and that places us way under the national average at about 1.5%. We also have an A+ rating with the BBB. The people that had something negative to say about Stuart Components or me personally owed me money and couldn't get any help from the BBB because they didn't have a legitimate complaint. We work very hard to do what's right by our clients and offer the longest warranty in the state of Virginia. No one trying to get over on their clients would dare to do that. Lastly, people that are happy generally don't do anything in writing, they only tell their friends. Year in and year out we get approximately 1/3 of all of our clients from either repeat customers or referrals. Also, missing on the list are the names of the people that wrote them. My name is Neil Ingram and I own Stuart Components, Inc. more

Wish I could go back in time 5/22/2011

I took a chance with Stuart Components and thought that their higher bid would reflect in the quality of their work. They did a renovation about 5 years ago for me. They were a bunch a nice guys but I would never use them again and I definitely overpaid. I can definitely relate to the bad reviews. I can tell you one thing, you will use a lot of caulk if you come behind these guys to paint. They will get your job done, but it will probably just be slapped together with little attention to detail. I wish I could go back and choose someone else. more

DO NOT USE STUART COMP, READ BAD REVIEWS 11/13/2010

This company is HORRIBLE. The good reviews are obviously written by the owner himself to counter the bad reviews against him (notice they are all posted on or close to the same day) because there is nothing good about this company, don't believe those made up good reviews. The review about Neil looking you in the eye while lying to you and praising god at the same time is 100% correct and right on the mark. Be prepared to get less than promised and to hire someone else to finish the job for you. Don't make a costly mistake like everyone else on here has, stay as far away from Stuart Comp, Inc. as you can or you will regret the day you signed the contract with them. DO NOT USE STUART COMPONENTS, INC. more

Plan to get less than promised 2/15/2010

Be prepaired to hire someone else to finish their job. Isn't it weird that the pro reviews seem written by themselves? Cons: unfinished work more

EXTREMELY PROFESSIONAL CONTRACTORS AND SUBS! 12/26/2007

When I built my first home ten years ago, I was slightly disappointed, with it, so contacted Stuart Components a few years later, because they had such a good reputation. Pros: Nice people to work with. Cons: None I recall. more

Excellent prices, honest people, and HANDSOME workers! 12/26/2007

I had my home built by Neil, and he was SUCH a darlin' thing...everything he said he would do, he did, no fooling! Pros: Honesty and integrity more

These are some of the most professional people I have ever had the pleasure to know, or do business with...I've read a few bad reviews, and simply don't believe it! 12/26/2007

As everyone knows, you simply can't please everyone - some folks would cry if you gave them a 100 dollar bill, because they'd find something wrong with it! Neil Ingram is one of the most forthright and honest individuals I've ever met or done business with! Pros: Work ethic, working with Neil personally, and forward-thinking ideas! Cons: I didn't notice any more

DO NOT USE STUART COMPONENTS.....TAKE HEED TO THE ONE STAR REVIEWS 12/19/2007

Ditto to most everyone else...this company is truly horrible. They began working on our small addition back in July and it is now Dec. 19 and they still are not finished. For the first 2 months, they showed up one day a week-maybe! Then they made it to a couple of days. Our project manager is the worst...he really could care less about our project and the owner is very condescending and could care less about you after you sign on the dotted line. We have communicated by email and by phone but owner does not get it and will not help to get the job done. Our sales person nor the owner have never once contacted us even though they know how we feel after several emails back and forth about how awful their company truly is. PLEASE DON'T PUT YOURSELF INTO A PROJECT WITH THEM....RESEARCH! Cons: Reliability, workmanship, extreme time taken to finish project, owner, subs more

Give a guy a break! 12/19/2007

I was sub-contracted to do a promotional video for Stuart Components and I had the opportunity to video tape some jobs completed, some in progress and to interview previous customers. Everything I saw was highly positive and the workmanship was excellent. I have been in the video business for about 20 years and I have run into problems that were not expected, but in every situation, by communicating with each other and being as honest and helpful as possible, the problems were rectified. Never have I seen someone as vindictive as this svilla fellow. Construction is wood and nails and everything can be repaired, but not if you hide behind a computer and spew out hatred to try and destroy a man's livelyhood. From what I have seen about Stuart Components, if everyone who had work done and completely satisfied were to put up a review on these sites, this svilla's review would be a piece of brown rice in a bowl of white. There will always be problems in every type of business but the way to resolve them is by working things out face to face. I have known Neil Ingram for many years. He has been my Sunday school teacher for over seven years and I have videotaped his daughters wedding, along with weddings he performed as a Pastor. I cannot believe he would not do everything he can to help fix this thing if svilla would get off his platform and stop his harassment. I am sure svilla will reply to this, if it in fact does get printed. I don't know what he does for a living, but I am also sure that if everyone that has been unhappy with him at his work were to start a campaign as he did, he wouldn't of had the money to have work done to his house in the first place. Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone. Stop crying and start talking. Wood and cement can be repaired. Pros: The company itself. Cons: Sorry, they hire humans more

Love my addition!! 12/17/2007

Thank you Thank you again!! Stuart Components did a great job. Very clean job site. I look forward to using them in the future. Highly recommend this company!! more

We're excited to be with Stuart Components! 12/3/2007

My wife and I are having a project completed at our home. Neil Ingram and his staff have been extremely helpfull to us during this proccess. We had four estimates done when this project began. We made our decision to go with Stuart Components based on their professionalism and prior project viewing. It was a no brainer to go with Neil and his team. Right from the beginning, they have walked us though what to expect and when it should happen. They even gave us a printed timeline of when to expect each aspect of our project to be competed. They have finished ahead of schedule on every turn. Pros: Neil, Ron, Lou, and Jeff more

Great Job; great people! 11/26/2007

Great experience. Handled numerous items on the exterior of our home. We were very pleased and have recommended to our friends. Pros: Changed the looks of our home. Loved our forman David more

They were outstanding!!!! 11/26/2007

They did a great job and I would trust them with anything. Never have I found a contractor that I could trust as well as call my friend. They completed a several hundred thousand dollar job, on time, in budget, and ""looking great."" They even followed thru with all of our touchups! Pros: Foreman, owner, subs, and in house people more

Outstanding quality work 11/18/2007

I am actually shocked someone would have anything bad to say about this company. Let me first say, Better Buisness Bureau record is great. Oh and by the way for the amount of time they have been in business, 4 or 5 complaints isn't bad. They did a phenomenal job on my home. They are some of the most honest contractors I have met. I would recommend Stuart Components Inc. to anyone. more

DO NOT USE STUART COMPONENTS! 9/22/2007

PLEASE read the reviews. They are all right on. There is no way these guys earned 4 stars. I would give them less than one if I could. Neil will smile and praise God while telling you everything will be great. All while lieing straight to your face. It happened to us over and over. They made countless mistakes and have left us to repair them. And I mean repairs like water damage and structure damage that will cost my wife and I a ton. DO NOT USE STUART COMPONENTS! Pros: Subcontractors; Paul/Mason, Ken/Granite, Nissab/Cabnets, Kevin/ast. foreman, Mike/Homescapes patio Cons: Mike/Foreman, Louie/plumber, Gavin/Electrical, more

Watch out if you need plumbing work from this company. 10/25/2006

While the owner of Stuart Components is very sincere in his wanting to be one of the better remodeling companies I can't say much for the plumber who worked on our job. He was never there on a Friday or a Monday (unless it was raining) and when he did show up the rest of the week he was late (around 10:00) and usually left early (around 1:00 or 2:00). Many, many times we had to call the job foreman to find out where the plumber was. A job that was to have taken a little over a month took 2 1/2 months and we hold the plumber directly at fault. The plumbing in our job was not complicated or difficult and whatever you do, insist for a building permit!!! Without the county inspector, heaven only knows what would have been done (or not). The county failed the plumbing for our job not once, but TWICE !! The second failure was for something the inspector had warned the plumber he'd neglected to do. Guess what? It only took him 3 days total to fix it all but took him over 2 months to do the initial install. The drywall contractor was not reliable either. They came out to do the initial work and when it couldn't be completed in one day, it was like pulling hen's teeth to get them to come back. The only real bright spot was someone we call the 'tile guy'. He was great. Always on time and very conscientious about his work. Two of the people we were working directly with in the office left part the way through our job which made us concerned about what was going on with Stuart Components. While I am glad we did the work, I do wish we had gotten several more estimates. This experience was not what we had expected after meeting the owner and has made us a bit 'gun shy' from doing any other remodeling work. Cons: High office employee turnover rate - unreliable subcontractors. more
