O'rourke's Steak House

I originally thought this restaurant was overrated but after visiting it for the second time I changed my mind. Our food and service were excellent this time around and I'm looking forward to dining there again in the future. The selection of wines is well thought out (there must be over 400 bottles) and reasonably priced. If I were going to die tomorrow, I would have my last meal here for sure! more

While technically a steakhouse, O'Rourke's is really all about fine dining, and their fish dishes are excellent. The appetizers are some of the best you'll find, sides are exceptional, and several desserts have won awards. Drinks are well-made, and hands on owners John O'Rourke and Sam Hernandez are not absent but visible on the floor, remember you and treat you with appreciation. This is not a chain and they're proud of it. An excellent and ever-expanding wine list, live piano entertainment or piped-in classics by Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, etc really sets the mood for business or pleasure. A very enjoyable and relaxing place to spend lunch or dinner, you don't have to shout to be heard or feel others can hear every part of your conversation. This is what Houston needs more
