Editorial review from Citysearch 2/13/2013

Overall, I would recommend this business. As some reviewers have noted, the ladies who sit and knit all day have sort of a ""queen bee"" attitude. I got the impression that they like to be the experts, and so if you are also an expert and expect a little respect, you might get your feathers ruffled. \r \r That said, I think they have a good selection and have a nice shop. I have visited before, and I wrote this review when I called in to ask about darning thread. They didn't carry any, but they had some good recommendations about what I could use and where I could find it.\r \r So if you are a beginner looking for nurturing or an expert who wants to locate a specific item, this is a good store. Plus it's locally owned and operated! more

One Visit Was Too Many 4/19/2010

I had looked forward to going to 1 More Stitch for weeks. What a let-down! The only attention I received from the clerk was constant ""checking"" to make sure I wasn't stealing and her boasting as she spent the afternoon knitting (and checking). The store was disorganized which made project vision and design difficult. In order to park I had to put money into 2 broken meters, in order to enter the store, I had to go to 2 doors - the front door apparently isn't used. I may give the store a second chance with hopes of improvement in the future. Pros: Nice Neighborhood Cons: Hired Help more

Great Store, Friendly, Helpful Staff 8/19/2009

Went in for help with a project I was messing up and Brenda, the owner, fixed it in a jiffy and got me on my way. I then bought some yarn and have gone back several times. Service is courteous without being intrusive (you can browse without someone looking over your shoulder). I will definitely go back to One More Stitch! Pros: Experts to help, good yarn selection more

ONE OF THE BEST 7/21/2009

Since the [apparent] demise of Wizard Weaver, a good selection of needlepoint canvases for less tha hundreds of dollars is sadly lacking in Cincinnati. After WW, I have found that One more stitch has more canvases (pillow size) for less than $100 than any other such store I have visited in our area. Pros: some reasonable needlepoint canvas prices Cons: small selection more

Rude + high prices = Go to another yarn store. 4/15/2009

I was not greeted when I walked in even though three different people saw me. The only attention I got was when I was around the other side of one of the aisles where she couldn't see me. Treated me with the suspicion you reserve for a vagrant or a shoplifting threat. Everything was Rowan and tip top on the pricing scale. There are good stores minutes away who appreciate their customers more than this place. Pros: Nice building Cons: Attitude, prices, selection more

The best yarn store in the city. Great Rowan inventory. The owner and employees are helpful, expert knitters. 6/15/2007

Definitely the best yarn store in the city. Shop owner is an expert knitter who is happy to help solve your project problems. Beautiful store, ample space and natural light makes it easy to look at the colors and get at the mechandise. Caters to the more serious knitter, but also has some fun & easy projects. Has the most complete Rowan inventory anywhere, and the yarn is there - you don't have to order and wait....and wait....and wait. She also has a nice selection of needlepoint. I highly reccommend a visit to this shop, and it should be a pilgrimage destination if you are into Rowan. more

beautiful yarn+easy-going owners=terrific yarn-buying environment 5/21/2007

i really like this yarn store--i'm familiar with most of the fiber stores in cincinnati and northern kentucky and one more stitch is one of my favorites. ironically, some of the negative comments from other reviewers top the list of reasons i purchase much of my yarn from this shop. the women who own this store are not snooty, they're just ""hands off"" until you ask for help. when i'm shopping for yarn, needles, and notions, i want time to browse, to touch and handle the fibers, to take in all of the offerings. the last thing i want is a ""salesperson"" trying to talk me into yarn i can't afford or don't want. these women are lifelong knitters: they have answers for you and are glad to help you when you ask, but they're not going to hassle you. more

Stuck up staff- Poor selection 5/2/2007

I normally would never go out of my way to write a bad review, but this is an exception. I have been knitting for 6 years, crocheting for 1, and spinning and dyeing for a few months. I spend most of my time doing fiber crafts and spend a lot of money on yarn and other supplies. I went into this store and introduced myself to the owner. I asked if they offered classes and offered my serives as a teacher. She was very snooty and spoke to me in a tone that suggested I couldn't possibly be a good knitter. She followed me around the store as if she was watching so I didn't steal anything. I left the first time without buying anything and feeling very bad. I decided to give the store one more try and had another horrible experience. I wanted to buy a shawl pin and asked to see them, they were very simple and plain and cost 80+dollars. Needless to say I didn't buy one. I looked at the construction and said ""hmmmm, that is out of my price range, I guess I'll try to make one"", and the woman said ""I doubt that"". I will never go back and wouldn't suggest anyone go there. The selection is also very lacking. There are a lot of worthwhile yarn stores in the cincy area and this ISN'T one of them! Avoid at all costs! Cons: Poor selection, Rude staff, Overpriced, Focused on knitting no crochet book or supplies more

Not nice. 11/28/2006

I love to knit and I love to go to new yarn shops. This was my very first experience at this shop. The two women working were not nice. In fact, one was really rude. I needed two sets of bamboo needles and she helped me get them (because simply looking around one couldn't find them on their own) and they were $13 apiece! That's insane. I can get the same products at another store for almost half that. I looked around for a bit at their meager yarn collection and put the needles back. I said my thank-yous and walked out the door. As I was leaving, the woman who was helping me was like, ""Did you put the needles back?"" and I said, ""Yes."" She continued, ""Did you put them back where they belong?"" and again, I said, ""Yes."" She then went to the display and went through the needles to make sure I put them back. Pros: Spacious store, lots of buttons, colorful yarn Cons: Poor selection of yarn, needles, and books. Poor customer service. Inadequate signage out front, easy to miss. Ample parking on the street, but I had to use a meter. more

Best yarn shop in the 100 mile area. 11/16/2006

Just moved to a new location and all I can say is WOW. A very spacious shop with lots of natural light which makes it very easy to see the true colors of the fibers. Plenty of stock - so you don't have to wait to strart your project. A must visit. Call ahead to get the new street address(phone number is the same) - is is just down the road from the old location. Pros: Great space, great lighting, easy parking, easy to see the yarns more
