Great Customer Service 5/25/2011

I just have to say that I was so happy to find a resale store where the staff was friendly and helpful! The girls are always very cheerful and it is a fun place to shop. It is especially nice to have a play area to put my younger children in while I shop. They didn't take some of my clothes that were in good condition but it was explained to me that it was because they were over stocked on that size and to bring it back in the future and I was fine with that. more

Good Bargains, Good to Recycle! 10/18/2007

I've found great buys at both the N and S locations. I did pay a little too much for one toy (it was missing a part and I didn't know it), but most all their clothing is priced reasonably and is in good to excellent condition. I've sold things at both locations and you don't get as much for your items as if you sold them outright (like on Craigslist) but it saves you time and hassle. I've had Once Upon A Child turn down some perfectly clean, high end clothes I wanted to sell, but hey, I just went to a different store and sold them. I find most people expect WAY too much money for their used stuff, so if you go to sell stuff, keep that in mind. And if you go to buy stuff, feel good about yourself because you're teaching your child the benefits of RECYCLING! Pros: Good variety, good bargains Cons: Clothes are a little too packed and shoes in bins make it difficult see more

Bad Customer Service 7/14/2007

I went to once upon a child on July 13, Saturday afternoon at 3:30om to sell some baby items. The young lady (brunette) mentioned to me it is a hour wait. So I told her that I am going to fetch more items from home and will be back in an hour. She mentioned to me they will close at 6pm. I went home and gathered several other baby items around and moved it onto the car. It is very hot in Ausin Texas during the summer. I came back to the store around 4:40pm and the young lady gave me a quote of the items for my first trip and I accepted it. I mentioned to her that I am going to fetch some more items from the car. As I am a small person, it took me 15 minutes to haul in the baby items. But when I finally hauled over the items to the the front desk, the lay told me that they stop buying at 5pm. I asked her if she could do a favor to accept it. She said no. I asked her why she did not tell me this deadline before because I mentioned to her several times that I was going to get more items from home. She told me that I should have sold it in one trip. I said the items did not fit into my car in one trip. In a word, I am very disappointed at the customer service at One Upon a Chind in North Austin, Texas. more

Great Staff, Good Prices, RUDE Owner 5/28/2007

The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I could rave on and on about their friendliness. They have always answered all my questions and took time to show me items they thought I might like. The prices were reasonable for used clothing and everything was in pretty good condition as well. However, while I was there shopping amoungst the racks I heard the woman, that one of the staff members later identified as the owner, belittling her employees and treating them like trash. I have been in there three times and have witnessed this on every occasion. I was embarrassed for the employees and myself! So despite the great service and fair prices I have decided, and am influencing everyone I can to boycott this company until the owner learns to treat her staff with a little respect and courtesy. I was absolutely appalled by what I witnessed and would encourage everyone to stand up for these workers rights and teach this nasty woman a well-deserved lesson! Pros: Great Staff, Reasonable Prices, Good Quality Items Cons: A rude owner who treats her employees and customers like trash more

not worth the hassle 1/4/2007

They make it so hard to sell your stuff that it is just not worth the hassle. Take your things to Goodwill and get the write off instead. more

Shocked By The Deal! 6/2/2006

I'd heard about this store from a few friends so i though i'd stop in and see what it was all about. I was so suprised the selection and prices were oustanding. I got some high name boutique brand clothing for my child at some WOW cheap prices. The staff was so helpful they answered every single one of my questions. The store was also very clean and organized it was so easy to find everything. After shopping there i think anyone would have to be crazy to ever pay full price for childrens clothing again. Pros: Awesome Staff, Clean, Very Inexpensive more

mean owner /not recommend this shop 1/24/2006

I went in the shop a couple of months ago and brought nice high end childrens clothing and a peg pergo stroller and was given an offer of $35 I asked to speak with the owner/manager. The owner came out and was very short with me, would not tell me what my items would be priced at and made me feel realy stupid. She was so RUDE i could not believe it! I would definatly NOT recommend this store. more
