Affordable management is GREAT 1/5/2011

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Personally I have had a great experience living here. Maintenance is responsive and actually fix things. Jackie is wonderful to talk to and seems to genuinely care for each resident. Seems to be a proud mother.\r \r Anywhoo! I love it here and will be here until I move out of state. \r \r I highly recommend the place! more

Management Sucks! 7/29/2010

The apartment I am in right now is nice but I moved in under different management. I was supposed to transfer to a single but the place was nasty when she gave me the keys already a week late. The last tenent moved out over two months prior. When I got the keys I went to look at the apt. It was not clean, there was dust from paint everywhere, the shower was warped baddly and there were water stains on all the sinks. The only thing that was clean was the carpet. It also still smelt like smoke. So I gave back the keys and told her it was not in anyshape to move into. The day before she told me she was on her way to look at the apt to see if it was ready she obviously never had looked at it. She does not respond to any of your requests and feels it is not her job to notify tenents of changes that impact them. Like when they started providing cable and internet I found out from the cable provider that it was all set up two weeks later. Do NOT MOVE IN!!!!! Pros: spacious rooms Cons: Outdated and unresponsive management more

Big, roomy and comfortable 8/13/2008

I lived in Old Main apartments for three years and had a great experience. The apartment was big, roomy and comfortable. And despite being surrounded by college kids, I almost never had a noise complaint or hassle with another resident. In fact, I met a couple of my best friends while living in Old Main. The pool was fabulous. I rehabbed a dislocated elbow in that pool during the summer of 2005. And the pool had long hours. I could swim until 10 p.m., which was great when I had to work night shifts for freelance assignments. I had a niggling problem with my air conditioner, but the staff responded super fast and kept my home comfortable. I never had a problem. The manager when I left, Kathryn, was very polite and professional. She helped me get things done and generally made life easy. Plus, the neighborhood is improving everyday. There are a couple of cool coffee shops, a nice pizza joint and a pair of good chain sandwich joints. It's a great community and living next to Drake is really vibrant. Sometimes the University sends out free activity passes so you can attend Drake events, including men's and women's basketball games, for free. There's a lot of culture and diversity at Drake and the neighborhood. I couldn't have been happier. Pros: Location next to Drake, neighbors, pool and spaces for a one bedroom apartment. Cons: Air conditioning systems are outdated. more

Horrible! 6/8/2008

This place is junk. The apartments are old and outdated. The roofs leak always - first floor apartments flood always. There are loud college kids, and every night your place will shake from the bass at the almost touching Dublin bar. The new management (new since a year ago) is HORRIBLE!!! The management before was nice - the only nice thing about it. Now, the manager is stupid, rude, and not worth it. If you are a tenant for 3 years, forget to put your car tag on in the parking lot, she will put a giant sticker on the window that you can't get off. When asked why she does this (because last manager - Jennie! used to leave a paper note under wiper), she said to deter. Deter what? We LIVE HERE and we forgot. We asked ""even if the same tenant's car is recognizeable and has been here for years? her exact response = ""Frankly, I don't care."" It's nice to have a manager that cares huh :) The pool is only open for about 2 months, and it is gross most of the time. Go take a tour of the apts - see for yourself. There is a LOT of new housing around Drake that you can walk to class from - don't put yourself through the agony of living here. Try the lofts across the street, or the new housing for grad students and upperclassmen that is going up. Rowhomes on 23rd street are really nice too!!! I am SOOOO glad to be gone!!! :) YAY! Pros: location next to Drake Cons: everything - interiors, exteriors, MANAGEMENT. more
