Bed bugs? 7/13/2011

I've lived at Oak Run for almost a year. I moved here because of the green belt and community atmosphere. I did read the bad reviews about the then current management, but I thought they were all friendly, nice and helpful during the lease process and afterwards. The new management, while promising to address issues that hadn't been resolved by the previous management, has really not done a good job of showing they care about tenants. I've had to call repeatedly for broken glass around the dumpster and in the parking lot and to follow up on repair calls. Repairs now take days instead of the next day service under the previous management. All things I've learned to live with along with the older apartment in slightly run-down condition, like raccoons and possums in the attic and random bugs, but this latest incident is the reason I'm taking the time to warn others. There was a notice on the doors of our building yesterday that there would be a pest inspection today. I came home today to find my bed covers in disarray and my pillows piled in a heap in the middle of my bed. I immediately called the office which was closed. Next I tried the after-hours line. I thought it could have been the inspection, but I've NEVER heard of a bed being inspected and I thought they would have written that on the inspection notice. The first thing I said when the after-hours person answered was ""I'm sorry for calling so late, but I just got home and the office is already closed."" I explained what I had found and his response was ""What do you want me to do about it? The office is closed."" I suggested he call the manager to find out why my bed had been touched. He said he didn't have any phone numbers, not the manager's nor the lead maintenance (which I also had to suggest to him). He then said ""I'll call you back"" and hung up before getting my name, apartment number and most importantly my phone number. I waited 20 minutes before calling back to give him ample time to make some calls. He again told me there was nothing he could do, the office was closed and he didn't have any manager phone numbers. Out of desperation, I went to the lead maintenance man's house. I obviously caught him at the wrong time because he wasn't overly pleasant either. His suggestion was to call the police because he believed my house had been broken into and that he was off duty and not on call, couldn't help, didn't have any phone numbers either and to call the after-hours line back because that person would have a way to contact the manager (even though I'd already told him he said he didn't have the manager's number). So now, in addition to be hot and frustrated (I had to wait outside while he took a shower before he could tell me he couldn't help me), now I was worried my apartment had been broken into! Just be careful if you decide to move in here. I moved here for the outdoor space but will probably leave at the end of my lease if things don't improve. more

Rudest management ever...so sad 2/28/2011

Wow...yet another vote for bitches in the office. What the hell??? I actually feel I am very amicable and super easy to talk with...but wow, when I keep getting cut off from explaining clearly issues that were promised to be addressed, yes, issues from previous but also discussed by the new Tramor folks, and I am being SO talked down to the whole time! There are some REALLY amazing and sweet tenants here in this complex which is a feat on its own and I would hate to think that they talk that way to any of them too! How am I being rude by asking simple questions or by following up about things I was told were going to be tended to months ago? Isn't that their job, to listen and help tenants? Wow... As far as the apartments them selves, yes, many of the buildings are needed a lot of repairs aesthetically as well as internally. These are not perfect by any means, but you will be hard pressed to find the old oaks and such community in any complex! :) If it were not for the nice tenants sharing garden and creative space, it would not be worth it at all. The new maintenance guys and contractors with Tramor have all been very professional and nice and do repairs quickly when they come. I hope they don't overwork them. I just wish the office staff were as polite and professional. I assume they do get some nasty tenants they have to talk to once in a while, but to treat everyone like we are out to attack them from the get go? No, sorry...I really don't feel respected at all here in that regard. As far as inside the apartments...you get the cheapest carpet ever and the cheap aluminum single pane windows which is pretty standard in any complex. Many of the apartments have great views, decks and sunlight. All different layouts are here, so you are definitely NOT in a typical cookie-cutter complex which is great! Much of the complex is divided up into duplexes, triplexes, or other multiplexes which is nice too. 3 pools are small, but nice, just wish they would put a hot tub on the huge decks around the pools! Pipe dream, ha! Laundry rooms are decent, wooded paths are nice...but beware during heavy flash flooding type rainstorms! Many of the lower apartments have water damage that is repaired every time, but still quite the hassle. more

Overpriced, Poor Upkeep, & The Worst Management Staff 2/4/2009

I have lived in Oak Run for approx one year and over the course of the year I have had countless problems with neighbors and a mangement staff that could care less. Upon brining up the issues, I was treated like a criminal by the manager Heidi and was threatened with eviction. The staff here is generally nice and understanding but recently things have really gone down hill and maintence issues are not acted on. My porch is falling apart and the beams that hold up the upstairs porch are no longer attached and swing freely. Basically the patio upstairs could come crashing down at any point and I pointed this out to them over 6 months ago. They will treat you like a criminal and disrespect your privacy. Save yourself the trouble and find a complex that appreciates their tenants and will respect you as an adult. Pros: Location Cons: Horrible management, no urgency for issues, rude staff, unkept promises more

Terrible, Terrible. 12/12/2008

I went to Oak Run to get an apartment, filled out the application and put a hold on the $200 security deposit on my card. I decided not to live there (because there are a million other better places!) and called to let them know and verify that my card would not be charged. It was. It has been a MONTH and I still have not seen that $200 back in my account. Not only that, but everytime I call, they are RUDE and I get the runaround. Pros: lots of trees Cons: bad neighborhood, bad management, incompetency more
