I worked for newhouse for five years excepted for the fact that when my wife was sick they let me have all the time i needed or wanted to see to her ..They are the worst company in the towing industrey...The owner is one of the cheapest sob's i ever met....You wouldnt believe some of the under handed dealings i seen that went on there..out of a 16 hour week end i only got paid for maybe three hours because thats what i did for the day not my fault that thats all that came in but yet i had to keep myself closed to my truck and rerady to go for 9 hours each day...when i said that i was going to check with wadge and labor all the sudden i was violating every rule they had and some they didnt have and refused to give me my vacation pay....Never work for this company and never have your car towed by them eather more

I was on Hwy 84E today 06/25/12 at about 2:45pm driving in the left fast lane behind a Newhouse Flatbed tow truck with GO BEARCATS in red letters on the back. Traffic was heavy but moving a 30mph, I saw his rotating yellow light come on and heard him blowing his horn at the car in front of him and he was right on the bumper of the car when the car brake lights come on. Next thing I see is the tow truck locking up it's brakes. And laying down about 30 feet of rubber, then it looked like the truck Kissed the center divider.! If that wasn't bad enough he started driving like a true idiot. Darting in and out of traffic, I was on a Harley and couldn't keep up with him. I was looking for his plate number but didn't see anything on the rear of the truck. No Tow is worth putting peoples lives in danger, I got off I84 at the 102nd Parkrose exit and he just kept going. If he worked for me, he would loose his job. more

Above and beyond! 10/27/2011

I have never written a review for anything but my experience this morning left me wanting to tell everyone about this company. To begin with the computer system on the Nissan 350z had locked me out because I used a spare key that didn't have a computer chip. As a result, even my real key wouldn't turn over the engine - so I was dead in the water. Nissan said I had to have my car towed to the dealership so they could reboot my computer and reprogram my key. Enter Newhouse and Hutchins - and their UofO Ducks tow truck. Just before he was about to haul my baby away he tried putting my car in neutral and starting the engine. IT WORKED! He said that some cars have the reset mechanism where you can start them in neutral instead of in park. I was thrilled and felt incredibly stupid at the same time. I wonder why the Nissan dealership didn't pass along this little gem to me? On top of saving me $100 in ""repairs"" they didn't even charge me to come out and get my car started. WOW! I was stunned. I will absolutely use these guys again if anything happens in the future. Thanks so much for you help and insider knowledge. more

They play the delay game and lie. 8/13/2010

BMW Road side assistance sent these people to pick up my motorcycle. They have the wrong equipment, take the bike to the wrong dealer and then drop it while unloading. The bike went for a service on the brake fluid leakage. After about 20 days I got a call to pick it up. The towing company had not made any effort to pay for the damages. They knew about it right away. I contacted Mr. McBride asking him why he had not done something and his answer was that he had the estimate but was waiting for me to call him to work something out. WHAT??? I have to call him to work something out? There is nothing to be worked out. I want my bike in the same condition it was before they damaged it. Called him a second time and he then lied, saying that he would like to take care of it, but hadn't done so, because he had never received an estimate. They don't deserve any rating. INCOMPETENT. BIG LIAR. more

Newhouse & Hutchins is a towing company, and like all towing companies, the flavor they leave in your mouth is directly related to why you have to interact with them. When I lived in an apartment, another towing company hauled my car away because my resident sticker was not adhesive, and it fell off of my tinted window. If I had written a review about that company, it would have been a nasty one.\r \r I needed Newhouse and Hutchins because my wife and son were struck by a drunk driver, and they moved and stored my vehicle until the insurance company could pick it up. I drove to the scene, and the tow driver was fantastic. Every time I called for the status on the vehicle, the representatives were courteous and kind, and gave me an update very quickly. When we were ready to go get our personal effects out of the car, they were patient and sympathetic. There were a few valuable items in the car, and even though the windows had been broken in the accident, all the items were still there. They had covered the car with a tarp. The ashtray had been ""looted"" (my wife's word), so someone got my parking meter money and my Dutch Brothers Coffee card, but that could have been at the scene before they even got there. They even offered to jump-start the car so we could get the CD's out of the radio, but we chose to just leave them.\r \r As far as the other reviewer calling them ""the slumlords of Portland towing"", that sounds a little like a review I would have written about my apartment tow company, if I had written it when I was angry. For me, they were fair and professional. My claims adjuster arranged for the transfer to a salvage lot, so I assume that they worked well with my insurance company. Hopefully, they'll be there to protect your assets after your next accident.\r \r And if you parked illegally or not in accordance with your apartments' parking rules, don't blame the tow company. DO, however, use scotch tape to tape that sticker to your tinted windows! Pros: Professional, centrally located, protect damaged vehicles from rain, helpful more
