Are you sure they even serve alcohol? 2/10/2003

The place is a LOT of fun but I would recommend sticking to beer or drinking before you go. I'm a petite girl whose limit is normally 2 drinks and I was still perfectly sober after 6. I don't think there was a full ounce of alcohol among them. Pros: good kareoke, fun crowd Cons: bad kareoke, weak drinks, too crowded to dance more

once in a lifetime 12/28/2002

I was working on the ship and first thing that l fall in love to was the cats club the best atmosphere and l was traveling a lot magic of being home and having fun is in CATS Pros: nice people Cons: longer working hours more

here kitty, kitty 12/1/2002

We had a very good time. It had a mixed crowd, the service was good. It can get rowdy, so be prepared, but after all, you are on Bourbon Street. The only things to complain about was the restrooms (Very, Very nasty), no where to sit. But even with that, it still had one of the best mixed crowds to hang out and sing with! Pros: Mixed crowd, Service Cons: Restrooms, Seating Areas more

Fun Place for Drunk Karoke!! 10/24/2002

I love this place. It is by far, one of my favorite places on Bourbon Street. Pros: Great Location, Good service, cheap beers Cons: Crowded more

Had Me Purring All Night!!!! 9/18/2002

What a place!!!! Fantastic!! Spent most of the Friday night there!!! Could hear the Karaoke all the way down the street!! Fun crowd, fun people and just.......fun,fun,fun......!!!!! Definitely a new favorite spot each time I visit in the future. toook my best friend who had never been to New Orleans and she had a blast!! (and this is one hypercritical person, mind you .) met lots of wild, crazy and just happy on life people!! Pros: good prices, great music, Fun Cons: crowded more

Karaoke 8/13/2002

This is the greatest place for live drunken karaoke. You can even see it from outside if the crowd at that window isn't too large. more

The Watering "Down" Hole 8/10/2002

We visited the "Cats Meow", ordered Gin & Tonic on their "3 for 1" Happy Hour. Keep in mind that your ordering 3 shots in a plastic cup the size of a "Big Gulp", and they water down the single drinks. We complained t the manager, but said we drank from the drink and there is nothing he could do. They used Gilberts Gin, gin does looks like water, drinking 4 of those tall drinks, I was scheduled to sing, & bit nervous, but the drinks did nothing to calm down my nerves !!! They don't give much chance for the people to sing, the "emcee's" do all the singing, and some good, but mostly bad. No dancing room, no where to sit, and they are totally rude, from the manager on down. I'd advise if your ordering a mixed drink, have it put in two glasses, taste and mix. more

Cool Place to Meow out loud! 8/7/2002

THis is a great place to go out to on the weekends or anytime; you can be in the crowd singing along with the karaoke or go try it yourself. You can go hang out upstairs on the balcony and see the sights passing down in the streets. Pros: no cover charge, great music Cons: crowded bars more

Karoke Kingdom!!!! 5/29/2002

No visit to Bourbon Street is complete without stopping into the Cat's Meow!! it is a great crowd with terrific drink specials. it's worth the wait to get on stage to sing. Pay an extra $10 and you will even get a videotape of your performance to take home!! don't miss it!! Pros: 3 for 1 happy hour more

Packed Cat 5/19/2002

There is a reason why the Cat's Meow is packed shoulder to shoulder - particularly on weekends. The fun and drinks are non-stop. I had watched live video of the Karaoke stage online for a year before I made it to Bourbon Street to see it live. It is an experience you really should have while you're in the French Quarter. Good drinks, friendly people behind the bar. more

Editorial
  • The Scene
The green-and-pink neon sign sets the tone; this is a good-spirited nightclub for conventioneers and tourists with their 18-and-over families. The downstairs main bar area is where the party is happening. A ground-floor courtyard catches overflow crowds. Upstairs is more laid-back, with a small bar, limited seating and a balcony.

    The Draw
Popular rock and a sprinkling of country blasts over the speakers, either from the emcee-led karaoke scene or a DJ. A modest dance floor gives the motivated a place to shake their things. The music moves with the clock, with oldies popular during happy hour, classic rock around dinnertime, and modern and alternative rock when the youthful come out after 10pm. The karaoke is free and open to everyone.
