Pros and Cons, My Friends 4/11/2009

I'm not gonna lie... I love this store. However, since I am a size 14, it does not love me. Specifically, the clothes do not love me, but the accessories do. This store has adorable clothing and accessories, if you're a small size and you have a sizeable chunk of money to drop for the style. Pros: awesome clothing, sweet bags Cons: parking, small sizes, high prices, some items' quality more

Nekked City - Not for Pansies 2/27/2009

Go to Nekked City to find clothes you can't find anywhere else. Don't go to make bestest friends with someone just because you have mommies credit card - there are plenty of other places that will cater to those that need their ego stroked. I have been there several times, and the staff is helpful if you ask for help, but does not breathe down your neck. If you don't have the b*lls to ask, then you shouldn't try to look like you have b*lls, at all. KEEP PORTLAND WEIRD! Pros: Low pressure staff, wide selection, unusual and hard to find items Cons: parking can be troublesome more

Matt Stanger is soo cute! 8/17/2008

That reason alone is good enough to make a trip into into this shop. teehee. But more than that they offer amazing accesories you cant buy anywhere else in town. I personally have never had an experience with bad customer service here, they are always friendly! Oh and their selection of belt buckles is fabulous! Pros: great location, cute clothes Cons: a little pricey more

Best Retro Shop on the West Coast 6/25/2008

This shop is great! It's the only store like it in Portland. To get this type of clothing, you have to shop online or you have to go to Seattle or LA.. Pros: GREAT RETRO - PIN UP STYLE Cons: a little pricy, but worth it more

Owner 3/28/2008

I used to shop here but the clothes are over priced for the quality but the main thing is The owner is absolutly hands down the most ungreatful store owner I have ever met a little advice when a customer gives you two hundred fifty bucks a simple thank you and smile might be nice your business wont prosper with your additude and lack of personality the bum outside had more character! Pros: some clothes look cute inconsistantly Cons: qwner lacks graditude or a personality more

Keeping Portland Weird? 3/16/2008

I think I was confused when I read the review from ""Nicolle Shops Portland"" because she says that no matter your personality or mood, you'll find something at this store. I don't think I lasted more than 5 minutes in there... If you were thinking, like myself, that this is a store that will have good designer clothing with original styles, much like Anthropologie, don't waste your time going all the way o ver there. This is more for the modern, young crowd that are not afraid of different, vivid colors and styles. I probably should have run away after seeing the super tight smurf-colored jeans on the window but I didn't want to judge the store because of that. more

great stuff, staff and prices! 3/7/2008

Wow, i am so suprised by these reviews, i have been shopping at NakedCity for 5 years and have had only good experiences. Sure some of their clothes are expensive but that is the norm for shopping in boutiques. you are paying essentially for someone to pick out 100's of really cool items and put them into one place for your convenience. i never mind paying the extra for such unique things i would never find for myself. if the quality of the items is not up to your standards, blame the manufacturer, write a letter to the company that actually makes the clothes! it seems like the negative reviews were probably from people who are used to being fawned over by staff. thank god this is not that kind of place. But it is the kind of place where you can find tons of really unique stuff for reasonable prices! more

Low quality, high prices, rude staff 12/3/2007

The clothes and accessories really are adorable, but they're expensive. On the rare occasion I do splurge and buy myself a belt buckle or sweater, the damn thing breaks or unravels in a matter of weeks. The quality of their items is terrible, and the high prices make me not want to shop there at all. I agree 100% about the rudeness of the staff as well. They sit around and chit chat, while customers are lined up at the counter, and they look at you like you're insane if you stand near the dressingroom with something. Like most of the hipster apparel shops on Hawthorne, you'd better have a lot of money and wear a size small or less to shop here, not to mention an ego so big it won't be bruised by the staff's inconsideration. Pros: Very cute clothes and accessories Cons: Rude staff, low quality items, high prices more

stellar product, downer vibe 11/10/2007

Really cute clothes, amateur staff. It's the kind of place you want to shop in, but the kind of place that makes you want to leave at the same time. Staff seems to think it's cool to be unhelpful... like maybe saying hi or responding to a question or GIVING YOU A BAG for your purchase is too mainstream? Been here several times and the staff is way too interested in each other and not as interested in the people who come in and want to shop. In the countless boutiques etc. I have shopped, the NC staff are def. among the least helpful. They WILL answer a question but you have to really be direct and look past the obvious disinterest . The vibe at this joint really puts me off wanting to spend $$ there, and if the owner considered restaffing the place, the sales would increase. Bottom line, you can get the same gear elsewhere and not have to put up with the 'tude. Pros: Great clothes and accessories Cons: unhelpful staff more

Keeping it short... 3/31/2007

Sure, NC has cute clothes. They also have adorable shoes, purses and jewlery. However, the attitude that I get from the staff is so condescending and stuck up. The prices for their clothes are ridiculously high for the amount of fabric that it contains. The shoes are pretty reasonable but also pretty cheaply made. Pros: Unique clothing Cons: Staff, prices more

NakedCity X 2... 12/5/2006

I love that they have the accessory store next door now! There are some really great items here and the prices are OK. At the clothing store however, prices get a little out of hand. My girlfriend bought some shoes here for $45 and at a store furthur down the street, we saw the exact same pair shoes for only $30. Needless to say, she was a little bummed. Pros: Good Selection. Cons: spendy more

Rad clothes, rad staff! 6/29/2006

It is a bummer to hear that one of my favorite stores is getting a bit of a bum rap. They have a fantastic selection of unique clothing (love the new rocker addition, btw) and I think they are pretty reasonably priced. For what it is worth, I have been shopping there for about 4 years now and have NEVER been treated rudely. The employees may not go out of their way to ""shop for you"" but, I appreciate being left to my own shopping devices. There is nothing more annoying then 8 different people walking up to me and insincerely asking me if they can ""help me find anything?"" I will say that, when asked, they are always more than willing to help. For instance, I bought a belt that didn't fit right. I brought it in and exchanged it, no questions asked. So there you have it! :o) Pros: Unique clothing Cons: Parking more

Excellent clothes, horrible employees 6/22/2006

My friend and I went into the store, because the clothes are AMAZINGLY cute and original. Hard to find styles, with excellent fit. However, the prices are WAY above average, as everything is made with a serger. And although I can easily make the items in the store myself, I find trips to the store really exciting. So much to look at! However, the staff is incredibly rude, and just all around not very nice or appreciative of their customers. We tried some things on.. two dresses a piece, and when I said I'd return for a dress I tried on, I actually meant it, but based off of the employee's reaction of disgust, I probably will not return for the item. Such a shame. Cute clothes, lousy people. Pros: excellent styles, originality, local designers Cons: staff more

Highly unique and highly priced 5/11/2006

""Naked City"" became my store of choice thanks to its truly unique selection (some of the items have been created and made by local designers, i.e. Agogo!), some of them 50's pinup inspired (yummy!). However, I am a bit appalled by quite high prices of items (a tiny shorts cost over $20), especially if you would like to buy more than one item (which is impossible not to wish and it keeps breaking my heart every time I have to put most of items I pick, back on rack :-(). Prices can be slightly justified by well tailored and made garments. Returns are impossible, they accept exchange and store credit only. Personnel sometimes make me feel I'd better not piss them off! Pros: unique clothing, hard to find styles Cons: no returns, high prices, moody sales staff more

Horrible customer service! 4/26/2003

When the item I bought literally broke the first time I wore it, I took it back to the store. The salesperson was rude, stuck up, condescending, and smugly told me she sells the item all the time and no one else had a problem with it. She implied that I was lying even though I had the broken item in my hand. VERY RUDE!!! Cons: rude, shoddy merchandise more

Fabulous! 3/12/2003

I have no idea what Horatio is talking about - the place is TOTALLY on the cheap. I moved to San Francisco 4 months ago and will totally fly up once a season to shop, their selection is impeccable, their taste undeniable, and the prices are tough to beat. (Or resist!) more

Too bad about Brando... 12/9/2002

Keen selection of new ""hip"" attire and appendages...Only vintage topics, not threads...Super nice staff...Watch out for the 'ol ""sticker shock"" on some items, $50.00 for a wife beater and panty combo? Surely you jest!!! Buffalo Exchange is right across the street. Pros: "Cool", "Hip", "Swinging" Cons: "Pay, to, Play" more
