Mushin, Uriel, Md - General & Vascular Surgery

I was seen by Dr. Mushin last week for leg pain. He was so compassionate and patient. He answered all my questions (I had lots of questions). In detail, Dr. Mushin explained proper treatment for my varicose vains. His staff was so warm and inviting, they made me feel at ease, especially Angie. Angie was so sweet and thorough, she set expectations and explained things in a way I could understand. The office seemed more like a spa and not a physician's office at all. Okay, I am a very active individual. I am Assistant Tour Director for the Individual Golf Tour of Texas. I am also a Tour Champion from times past and have been featured in several magazines and the Houston Chronicle. I have played golf with celebrities and pros alike. About twelve months ago, I tore an umbilical hernia repair that was fixed almost a decade ago using the old method of cutting open the belly and leaving a big 3 inch scar. I am fighting old age and keeping up with tour players that can easily hit it 300 yards. It was causing me pain to push my ""stuff"" back in after a big bomb. I had enough and found Dr. Mushin. I drove myself over to Memorial Hermann Medical Plaza and sat down for a delightful education into what it would be like to undergo this new procedure...which is not new....and the tools the doctor would use. I left ready for preop and surgery within two weeks. For preop, everything was scheduled for me, run like a fine oiled machine and I can only tell you this... You will be in the best of hands, hearts and heads. Each and everyone of his staff are champs in my book. One week after surgery and I was hitting them 270 into the wind today at the range with little or no pain at all.....and a new confidence....give me a week....and I will be back to 300 plus yards...not bad for 52 with a new tummy! I lived with my hernia for a number of years dreading the surgery and the recovery downtime. After making the decision to go forward, I found Dr. Mushin. He was very helpful in explaining the cause of the hernia and the procedure that would be used. I was able to spend all of the time I needed with him asking questions. Surgery took about and hour and and I was out of the hospital an hour and a half later. Post surgery pain was minimal and it was more being uncomfortable. Within two days I was walking at least an hour at a time. Within two weeks I was jogging 30 minutes and have been to the golf driving range twice. I have no pain or discomfort and am ready to resume a normal schedule after only two weeks. All of the staff have been very helpful and courteous with all of my calls being answered immediately.
