Men On The Move Moving & Self

We moved to FL from NY and "Men on the Move" performed as well as one would hope. They packed our art and fine dishes very carefully and thorough. The men were courteous and polite. Our stuff arrived within the time frame promised. There were no hidden fees or add-ons, except for that which was told to us up front. A fuel charge is calculated based on the mileage and cost per gallon. However, they often transport more than 1 family's stuff for long distance hauling so I have to believe each customer is paying the same fuel charge. I didn't think to ask at the outset, but I would if I were you.All in all, I would recommend this company. L.I.S. more

My move was scheduled and the movers never showed up. I called the company and was given a false story about a flat tire and that they didn't know about it. Made it sound like the truck got a flat on the way. e When two of the three men showed up it three and a half hours late, it was clear that their was a huge mistake and I was told many lies. The two men who were the movers were great. more

The estimate was accurate. Had some heavy pieces of furniture and the crew had no problem handling them. Very efficient work... more

They showed up right on time and didn't waste any time whatsoever. They got rid of any stress that I had about the move. This was my first time using a moving company and they were excellent! The three men that came to help with my move were all professional and made sure to handle all of our items with care. All furniture was wrapped securely and the move was very time efficient. Not one item was damaged. The price was also very reasonable! Even my new landlords commented on how great they were! Moving is stressful enough without having the two crew men you hire arrive at your apartment, with the chief (with a major attitude) telling you that you have "way more stuff than they were told" and so it would cost much more than what you were quoted because it will take them 4 hours to move you (it didn't), also telling you about all of nickel and dime surcharges on moving materials which weren't mentioned by the sales person who booked the job (what moving company charges extra for basic moving materials?). In addition, they told me I would be charged extra because it was raining out, and said obnoxious things like: "it has to be worth it for us. We gotta get paid too, and this doesn't include tip." When they arrived at the house I moved into (my move was from Manhattan to Long Island), they took no care with my belongings, as they broke several items as well as the molding in my wall. They also took the 59th Street bridge from the city to Long Island, which is known as the long way to get there, and I believe they took that longer route intentionally since they were getting paid for travel time. I wish I could remember the name of the crew chief...his attitude was just so awful...he kept complaining to me and my boyfriend about the travel time and traffic (for which they were getting paid for), while they gruffly threw my furniture around. Pros (sort of) - Even with the additional nickel & dime surcharges they still ended up being cheaper than other companies I got quotes from. Guess you get what you pay for!! Also, despite the negative things I said about the moving men, they were efficient (it took them only about an hour to move me out), which is why I don't understand why they complained so much when they first saw my room and told me it would take 4 hours! They also allow you to claim damages (of which I have a lot) so we shall see what happens with that. But pretty annoying that because they broke my furniture and wall I have to take the time to fill out a claim sheet. All in all it was an unpleasant and stressful experience with them, and I would never recommend them or use them again. more

Men On The Move moved us from Queens to Long Island. They packed everything up and moved us. It was very quick and prompt. The guys were very nice and friendly. It was very good. more

I had a great experience with Men On The Move! I probably interviewed about five moving companies, but I only got a confident feeling from two of them. Men On The Move was one of them. The guy who came to the house could tell me how much stuff weighed, and he knew exactly how many trucks would be needed. He also said they could supply boxes, but we ended up getting our own. They weren't the cheapest, but when you're moving, you may not want the cheapest company. You want the one that will get your stuff there in one piece. Men On The Move did just that, and they came on time. They were really professional, and they brought enough guys to handle the job. They wrapped everything really well, so nothing was damaged. (Nothing they wrapped was damaged anyway. Things that I wrapped got broken.) They taped everything, and they put more tape around the boxes we did ourselves. They were very respectful of all our stuff, and they did a good job packing the truck. We were moving from a five bedroom to a two bedroom. They got everything there, and they did a good job unpacking. I told them how I wanted things, and they did it. The job went late into the night, but the guy knew exactly how long it was going to take from the start. He stuck to that, so we didn't have to pay anything extra. Everything happened exactly how he said. I've already recommended them to a friend of mine who is moving to Florida, and she's using them. You want to feel confident with the people you hire, and Men On The Move gave me all the confidence I needed. They may not be the cheapest, but you want your stuff to be taken care of.
