WORSE SERVICE I HAVE RECIVED, WORSE BEAR!!! 8/14/2007

We were at mellow mushrooms on Aug 4th 07. Ordered a pizza and Pitcher of Blue Moon. Beer was over 50 degrees. When I ask the waiter why the beer was so hot she said that they just filled up the beer in a Pitcher which just came out from a dishwasher. Daaa... I felt really stupid when I ask to pay $16 for a Pitcher over 50 degrees. We end up drinking less than a glass out of that Pitcher. Cons: Worse beer ever more

TRY IT 5/13/2007

OUTSTANDING pizza...great food altogether...this place has atmosphere and excellent food. We enjoy coming here once a month or so, and just relaxing with great everything. The wait staff is awesome, there is never a disappointment. Well worth going to. more

worst mellow mushroom in the chain 5/4/2007

We have been to several of these in different locations over many years. All of our experiences have been great EXCEPT for the Raleigh location. Waitresses are so rude and forget things on the order, forget napkins when the pizza comes, forget plates and bowls for sharing with kids. WAY TOO SLOW for a pizza place even when you order salads you wait 20 min for a salad and then YOU WAIT 30-45 minutes more for a pizza min. And it's not even consistently baked. We've had half baked pizza and overbaked pizza. Last visit the waitress literally threw the receipt on the table as she walked by without a ""hope you enjoyed your meal"", ""come back again"". Just plain stupid. And the last trip - they RAN OUT OF PIZZA BOXES so they brought out this little plastic container to hold 7 slices of pizza - how dumb is that folks? \r \r What is up with the hiring and training here? Take a lesson from the Blowing Rock locations for hiring great staff and putting out a great pizza. more

Must try 4/27/2007

I've eaten at Mellow a few times now and I feel they have the best pizza in Raleigh aside from Lilly's. They offer many unique creations and of course you can design your own. You can wind up paying $17 for a medium pizza here but it is definitely worth it. I love the dough they make and the ingredients are fresh. I've never had a problem with getting seated or with the service. An extra large patio provides lots of outdoor seating as well. They have some pretty good margartias here too. The interior is very dark and is more of a ""bar-type"" atmosphere. Sure it can get loud and crowded, but it is a very fun and casual place to eat. Pros: great pizza, lots of outdoor seating Cons: it is a little bit pricey for pizza but still worth it more

Bad Experience 3/10/2007

Showed up before the big crowds on Saturday. We only ordered a pizza and 1 sub, but ended up waiting an hour. In the meantime, people were showing up and being served while we were still sitting there. Finally, the waitress told here there was some mix-up and offered the kids cheesy bread while we waited some more. The cleaning staff were ridiculous - when we finally got our food, they were trying to pull the plates out from under our noses (hey, there's the door - what's your hurry?) I got disgusted being rushed out of there after waiting so long and asked for boxes to take the rest home. Unbelievable - we stood up to grab our coats, turned around to get the boxes of food - saw one of the ""speedy quick"" cleaners taking off when them and our plates. We were told they accidentally threw them away - they offered us more food - wait another hour, yah right... Got my money back and left - the few bites we got to eat were definitely not worth the wait... more

Funky Chicken Pizza...the best 2/25/2007

I just wanted to say that I really like the ""Funky Chicken"" pizza. I am not sure if its still on the menu, but its my all time fav. It has Carribean Chicken with some pesto and other ingrediants...but Pros: pizza Cons: parking is sometimes hard..i like ordering take out more

This is where I always buy my pizza. It is always reliably good pizza with good quality incredients. Sometimes the crust could be a little crispier. Their salads rock. As does the hummous. And, if you eat in, the staff is always nice. Pros: Great outdoor deck, commitment to quality ingredients Cons: None! more

Mellow Mushroom has got to be the best place for pizza. I order from there everytime I am at the hair salon. The small pizzas have large slices worth getting at such a cheap price.This is my favorite quick stop for a meal. more

New In Town? 7/13/2006

I must say - if you are new in town or just visiting, going to Mellow Mushroom will leave you with a great impression of Raleigh night life. I've been on several occasions usually with a group of friends, when it's dark, and I love the environment. At this time of night the people, the air, the energy, and MOST importantly, the food will surely be a fascinating experience for anyone cruising in from anywhere. Pros: The Food, the Area - perfect Cons: It was a little timely before we got our food, but it's taste was well worth it! more

My wife and I have been to Mello Mushroom about 15 times. We love it! The pizza is the best in the triangle. We are actually ordering out tonight and can't wait to get our mighty meaty pizza. The BBQ chicken is our second favorite. You will enjoy this place, trust me! Raleigh Resident more

I was intrigued by the vegetarian offerings, but the place is noisy, the staff is very very very slow and I got beef & bacon in vegetarian dish I ordered. A previous time the waitress dropped a beer in my lap. Both times the management gave me $5 off my bill, but with no apology. Another time lunch took an hour and a half- the waiter seemed to disappear, only to come back bleary-eyed and forgetful. If you're not in a hurry, don't mind bad service with noisy surroundings, and can tolerate meat in vegetarian dishes then by all means, stop in an have a beer dumped on you. Excellent Pizza and Ambiance 1/23/2003

I love Mellow Mushroom! Although the wait can be up to 30 minutes or more if you come on a Friday or Saturday night during peak hours, the food makes it worth the wait. I love designing my own pizza. I always make a pizza with fresh sliced tomatoes and fresh garlic, and it is ALWAYS excellent. The atmosphere is awesome with a few games for the kids to play, a small but lively bar area with TV's and a smoking section, a small putt putt type thing in the front with large mushrooms covering, and outdoor seating with live music some nights. It truely is a wonderful place to get a great calzone, pizza, or honey covered pretzels! GO TO MELLOW MUSHROOM! I will never go back 12/3/2002

I will never go back to this restaurant. The food was OK, but not special enough to overpower the snotty way we were treated. We asked to split a check, and rather than just tell us politely that we couldn't, the manager was very rude. When we asked if we could have the cashier split it while we paid, he was also rude, saying ""that would takle too much attention away from our other customers--they might not come back."" So I said ""Well we might not come back,"" and he said ""Oh well"" and sashayed off. I can forgive mediocre food or even bad services, but not downright rudeness. more
