Mayslack's

I'm so sad to hear about Maslacks. I hope it is somewhat how it used to be. I remember back in the early 80's to when I worked for Control Data Corp and traveled to the Twin Cities for training. One stop we'd always make was to Mayslacks for the roast beef sandwich. He was truly the original 'Soup Nazi' (reference to Seinfeld TV show). We'd always stand in line and wait to become next and be afraid to say the wrong thing to Stan. While I never saw anyone get thrown out, if things went well, your sandwich kept getting bigger and bigger. I remember him with those huge hands and a great sandwich was the size of his full hand extended. You didn't need to eat for a day or 2. Oh well, like i said, I hope that it still taste somehting like it used to. more

The "famous" roast beef has been reduced to the cheapest cuts of meat and it not special or good in the slightest. The rest of the menu is basic bar menu and average. The scene is boring and dead. Sigh. Pros: none Cons: a letdown w/roastbeef, service, no fun! more

I felt the imposing figure of Stan Mayslacks at his Lounge long after the man has past. The roast beef sandwich, music, friendship hung in the air. Stan thanks for the great legacy of your sandwichs, your clan carrys on in your stead. I am treating my Ukranian mother in law who is 86 to a little bit of of your Polish fare, the Mayslacks, named in your honor for the wrestling champ you were, a lot of beef, I will laugh as I eat my sandwich just like I did when I visited your place when you were slicing the meat. Waffle fries just can't be beat. They hold more sauce! which can be inportant if you need a lot of sauce. In order to complete the same action with standard fries you need to grab more , line them up, and hope for the best. Waffel fries rule! more
