I love, love, love my membership. Even though the monthly fees gives me a one-hour massage, I always, always, always upgrade to the hour-and-a-half massage. My old spa charged me ...

I like really good massages that are done by truly professional massage therapists that know the body. the therapists here are all s0-s0 and I think that you get what you pay for...

Cheap Massages Rock 4/8/2010

The staff was fine - I get the rudeness, but frankly, who cares. If I wanted an over-priced day spa, I'd go there. The massage I had at the Costa Mesa location was remarkable. I have a chronic neck injury, and my therapist was excellent: very professional and the techniques he used to alleviate clinical, severe muscle pain were varied and thorough. Not sure about the membership - anyone care to comment on whether the quality of the massage drops once you sign up? Thx. Pros: Strong Hands Cons: Chain store mentality more

cheap massages / you get what you pay for! 10/5/2009

I like really good massages that are done by truly professional massage therapists that know the body. the therapists here are all s0-s0 and I think that you get what you pay for. Other spas in OC that I pay more for are much more intuitive and much better. I think I will stick with the spa I love in Laguna Beach - ymspa. Pros: many to choose from Cons: less experienced staff more

It's like time share for massage! 8/10/2009

I love, love, love my membership. Even though the monthly fees gives me a one-hour massage, I always, always, always upgrade to the hour-and-a-half massage. My old spa charged me $160 for that hour-and-a-half PLUS a tip! So I could only go about twice a year. Now I go almost every week. I could never do that otherwise! I used to sell timeshare, and what people love about that concept is that they're SURE they'll go on vacation every year. So Massage Envy is like timeshare for massage ... I'm sure I'll go often! It's the best money I could ever spend on ME. Pros: Makes massage affordable Cons: Not a full-out luxury environment like a 5-star hotel more

Employees cannot write reviews!!! 5/6/2009

If you read below, an employee wrote a response to someones review. That is not allowed in the CitySearch policies. I wonder if this is the typical employee of Massage Envy? more

Costa Mesa is the best in Orange County! I've been to the other locations and the massage is the best here!! 3/10/2009

I just went to costa mesa location, and it was a great experience. This is my second time at massage envy. The first time I went to the Anaheim Hills location, and found the staff to be very rude. I made another appointment in Costa Mesa because I vowed never to go back to Anaheim. I read the reviews, and I disagree with everything said about this location. My experience was great! My massage was great! and the staff was great! Anaheim Hills location was terrible! Pros: Best massage envy in orange county more

Excellent Experience - 12/8/2008

I read these reviews and I have to wonder about someone who claims a service business as professional as this actually hung up on them! Maybe the receptionist asked to call back rather than keep you on hold so long that you'd be writing about that instead! Or maybe she's just a bit young since, after all, you're not paying much for your massage so she's probably not getting paid much. I've always found them to be nice - and I don't mind the goofing around if it shows that they're friendly. As for the massage, I've had many since I am a member and travel, so i use different Massage Envys. Costa Mesa has some great therapists - depends on what you want and whether you express it to the masseuse. We also tend to think that if we pay a lot it's good (even if it isn't) and if we don't pay a lot it was mediocre. As humans, we're pretty unfair that way. Go to one of the shi-shi er full service spas and pay $120 for the same massage - guarantee you they have the same therapists that Massage Envy does. In fact, I know it. more

I would not recommend this particular location 11/7/2008

I am a current massage envy member and I have been to three different locations during my membership. I would not recommend this location if you live in Orange County. I have been to the Costa Mesa location twice and had bad experiences both times. The front desk staff are usually very rude and unprofessional. When my friend called to make our appointments, the girl on the phone was very short and unfriendly with her. She actually told her that she was busy and said "can you call back another time, I'm busy right now." My friend told her no, and it ended up only taking about 1 more minute to complete the appointment process! When we had our massages, the staff was goofing off and were all around unprofessional. As far as the massage itself, my therapist was mediocre. She was nice, but seemed to put in a half-assed effort during the massage. She kept sighing heavily during the massage and it made me feel uncomfortable, I could tell she didn't want to be there. My overall impression of the Costa Mesa location is that the staff is very unprofessional and not very customer service oriented. If you live in central or north Orange County I would recommend going to the Orange Hills location. They are new, and they also offer facials. The front desk staff is very friendly and accommodating and my massage and facial were exceptional! Pros: As with any ME, it is clean, quiet and a pretty good value Cons: The STAFF! Very rude and unprofessional. more

No Bait and Switch SCAM!!! Great value...great massage 10/6/2008

I just read the reviews, and Massage Envy is a reputable business. The monthy fee is actually a membership where you can come in and get discounted massages. The membership is actually $59 a month and that comes with a massage every month. They have very good therapists on staff, and the person who posted should actually READ WHAT THEY ARE SIGNING!! It is a membership agreement with nothing hidden! I am sending all my friends to massage envy! Pros: good value. great massage more

Bait & Switch Scam 9/15/2008

I didn't like the fact that it was a bait and switch tactic to get you in. $39 for the first massage but after that, you're stuck with $65 a month until you cancel. So You end up paying so much more than just going to a Spa or any other clinic. They take your money from your bank account every month, so if you forget, you could be paying for years before you catch on. No one else charge monthly fee just to book a massage, it's not a wise financial decision and they want you to NOT show up, that's how they make their money. Pros: Great environment, quiet, nice Cons: Monthly due of $65, they make money when you don't show up, more

Great idea - Loved the service! 4/12/2008

I'm on the Massage Envy bandwagon! The massage was really good, and what i like most was that i didn't have to choose "deep tissue" or "neck and shoulds" and then pay based on that (and why is it usually more just for neck/shoulders rather than full body?). I made the appointment and then the therapist asked what was bothering me and then he worked it! Same price, no matter what. I love this concept. Yes, I signed up (after my second visit just because i'm cautious) and I read the contract so I don't feel duped. If i don't use my massages, they rollover as long as i'm a member. If i cancel my membership,it all goes away. Sounds fair to me - and why wouldn't i use them????! Crazy. Like joining a gym, not going, and saying - i quit but let me still come to the gym. I recommend these guys. I've been to 3 of their, like, 10 locations. Pros: Professional, spa-like, price is right, easy parking, convenient Cons: busy on weekends more

BEST MASSAGE I'VE EVER HAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 4/12/2008

I've had many massages before from Glenn Ivy to Burke Williams, and this is by far the best massage I've ever had. I didnt have to pay the spa pricing, but I did get the spa environment complete with cucumber water. I signed up for the monthly membership, and I'm going ever week. I read the reviews on Massage Envy, and I cant disagree more. It was the best massage I'ver had!!! Thank you Massage Envy Pros: great massage/ great pricing Cons: none more

Great concept - good value for money 4/4/2008

I regularly go to "fancy" spas. Massage Envy is not a SPA but a massage CLINIC. I walked in without an appointment and within 10 minutes was able to get a good massage. Where else can you do that? I got exactly what I asked for - 25 mins. of therapeutic massage on my painful neck, and 25 mins. of relaxation. Great value for the $39 (plus tip) I paid as a first-timer. I don't understand why people think this is bait and switch. Their prices are clearly posted. $59 monthly membership with $39 for as many follow-ups or gift massages for the rest of the month - it's a great deal. Tip what you feel like tipping.. that's what tips are for! I was offered a contract and declined, because I don't live close enough to visit regularly - but I would sign up if there was a clinic closer to me. I think it's a great concept - a "no-frills" massage. If you feel like being pampered, spend $100+ at a spa. If you want a massage, visit Massage Envy. Pros: Great value for money more

Good for body, mind, soul, and wallet 1/11/2008

I've suffered from back problems for years. Recently, it got so bad, I was almost in tears. This week the pain was so bad, I couldn't sleep. I asked the friendly front desk person for a recommendation and so, I got matched up with Christine. Right away, I could feel the confident touch of a therapist who had been practicing for years. She walked me through the various points of tension in my back and did more for me in one hour than all the painkillers could do. I was able to relax so much I actually fell asleep during the massage! The facilities are great and it's an unbelievable value. I've been in spas in NYC that charge more than twice as much for a much worse experience. Unless you need irrelevant fluff (e.g. a cashmere robe, bunny slippers) to feel good about yourself, Massage Envy really should meet everyone's massage needs. For an extra $60-$80, you can have those extras at another spa somewhere but wouldn't you rather have 2-3 massages for the same price? Pros: Everything from parking, to the therapist, and the facilities Cons: Far from my home (but there are new locations coming!) more

Beware Massage Envy! 12/7/2007

I had a really bad experience with massage envy from the get go. First they had me sign up to draft my account and told me it was a month to month contract. Once I realized the massage therapists were not very good and very unprofessional I went to cancel and found out I had signed a year contract (my bad I should have read the contract). I tollerated a years worth of bad massages and then when I cancelled they continued to draft my account. I took a great deal of time and effort to get them to stop and refund my money. Then they refused to honor the massages I had paid for but not used yet. This is a very shady company to do business with and sadly they don even give good massages! You don't go to Mcdonald's to get a great meal so don't go to Massage Envy to get a great massage! Pros: None Cons: Dishonest, unprofessional, poor massage more

Especially good for the price. 11/30/2007

I am a physical therapist and I am usually on the other side of the treatment table. I have been studying the human body, giving and receiving massage for the past 5 years. I try to keep myself in good shape, but I admit, I too get aches and pains. Mostly from long drives or sitting in front of the computer making my neck, back and shoulders tight and painful. Every once in a while I get myself a massage to de-stress. The day I got my massage, I was able to get an appointment within the hour. Since it was my 1st time, it only cost $40. I got a good massage and 1 hour later I was feeling less stressed and tight. The therapist was knowledgable and skillfull in massage, so I left him a nice tip. I recommend going to massage envy for aches, pains and relaxation but if you have an injury (like a car accident) physical therapy is a better option for you. In addition to helping you feel better with massage, PT teaches you how to maintain that feeling on your own by teaching strength and flexibility exercises. Pros: reasonable price, relaxing and clean environment Cons: front desk girls need improvement in professionalism (greet clients, attention to clients) more

Very Poor Service 10/12/2007

I made an appointment for a massage 30 minutes before the massage. I rushed in to get the massage arriving at my scheduled time and they informed me they had given away the appointment. When I called to speak with a manager, the person who booked the appointment hung up on me. Thank god for the internet so I can save somebody else the hassle of trying to use this place. Cons: poor service more

Great Massage, Great Price, Good for athletes!!! 7/12/2007

I've been to all the Massage Envy's in Orange County, and had my best experience in Costa Mesa. My therapist was very experienced. If you are looking for a great massage where you can afford to make it part of your routine, this is it!! Dont expect all the spa services...but I would go to Costa Mesa again for all my massages. Pros: Great Massage..Great price Cons: lacks all the spa services more

WHAT AN AMAZING MASSAGE 4/28/2007

I went to Massage Envy on the recommendation of my co-worker. I was completly impressed at the quality of the therapist and the atmosphere! I took advantage of the membership they offer, and plan on getting massages on a more regular basis. I loved it! Thanks Massage Envy!! more

Excellent experience, professional, day spa environment without the price! 4/11/2007

I had a fantastic massage my first time, joined for $59/month (it includes a one-hour session each month!), and go back sometimes twice a month. The price makes it affordable to do that. No saunas, steam rooms or locker rooms, but still feels like a day spa because it's nicely done, classy - very professional. Best part - you don't have to book weeks in advance! I'll continue to go back. This place is huge and the therapists are really good. Pros: Quality therapists, great price Cons: gets busy at peak hours more
