The food here is decent but a bit on the pricey side. The staff is friendly and service has always been excellent. The place is always spotless. Pros: clean, friendly Cons:...

A bit on the bland/watery side overall. Not a bad meal, but there's better available. Could have been an off night. more

chicken pakora a bit too dry. Too much mint in the lamb briyani but the best vindaloo i've ever had and the biggest samosa i've ever seen in my life. 3.5/5 maybe? more

Delicious, usually slightly faster than their estimate. I've ordered from them about 5 times now, different things each time, and every single one has been awesome. more

Continues to be very good. Their *'d items are a good starting point for someone who isn't sure they like Indian food. Delivery can drag out a bit. Delivery minimum is also unreasonable but that's my opinion. Beyond that, the food is predictably good and always hot. more

Their Naan and Curry is better than Naan N' Curry 3/20/2008

I like Masala's selection of indian breads and their chicken is awesome. Never had an issue with their deliveries but really enjoyed eating out on their patio. Service was very friendly and very close to the park. Pros: Ambience, Patio seating, Very clean, good selection of indian breads Cons: parking more

My food was delivered 20 minutes before the estimated delivery time. The food was piping hot and very very good. The tikka masala was delicious, as well as the lentil soup, I love the freshness of the parsley. Also very good was the chicken biryani, very flavorful! The only thinking that was just ok was the naan, it was pretty soggy but I am assuming it was because it was wrapped up almost immediately after it was made. All in all, I highly recommend Masala! more

Excellent service with a very friendly delivery carrier. The lamb Tikka Masala was wonderful with just enough spice. Will order from them in the future! more

This place is great, best goat cheese naan ever!!! 8/22/2006

Well, before I met my friend Susan, I was almost inept at selecting a good restaurant. I was afraid to try new things and I was a burger hound!!! Well, now that I have had the opportunity to try new and wonderous cuisine, I must say that Masala is right at the top of my list. The atmosphere is very aesthetic and the music makes for a very soothing dining experience. The service is friendly and...oh, the food...all I can say is WOW!!! I didn't know that I liked goat cheese until I tried their goat cheese naan. I was blown away. All their food has a nice texture and is very pleasing to the pallet. If you have not been to this restaurant or have never tried Indian food, this would be a great place to start. \r \r The vegetable pakora is very good as well...a lot of places put way too much batter on theirs and your can't taste the veggies...Masala lightly batters their pakora and it is very light. The mango lassie will make you think you're in India. Well, not enough good things can be said about this place...you will have to try it for yourself. I hope you find this review helpful. Pros: Great food and wonderful service Cons: Parking may be hard to find, but well worth it! more

Pretend you're at Clay Oven, Pay like you went to Naan and Curry II. 8/21/2006

Good job, Masala. I went there for the first time a few years ago with friends who lived a few blocks away and RAVED about it. But it turns out that, as usual, their taste kind of sucked -- yeah, not so good. But WOW have they improved. I don't know what has changed, whether it's the management, the chefs, or just the fact that they realized that just because they're at Irving and 9th doesn't mean they don't have to try, but everything we had was really fantastic. The service was fast, friendly, attentive-but-not-hovering, and the food, from the standard Chicken Tikka Masala, Palak Paneer and papadam, to the the lamb biriani and spicy potatoes (don't even know what it was called, actually, but tasty indeed). A definite recommendation. And at the end of the day, with rice, raita, naan and one drink each, it was still only $14 per person. And unlike Naan and Curry, you can actually bring uptight family from out of town... Pros: Great service, Good food, Fantastic neighborhood dining Cons: Parking probably isn't great, but we walked. more

Good Indian Cuisine & wonderful staff 6/8/2006

Masala has the rare combination of great ambiance, wonderful & friendly staff, and great food. The dishes can ordered mildy spicy to 3 alarm fire spicy. Nevertheless the food is DONE RIGHT, the chicken in the dishes are buttery soft, the seafood is always fresh , and the spices in the entrees accentuates the meats and vegetables without overwhelming them. The naan that accompany the dishes also has the toasty crust with a soft tasty inside. Whenever I eat there the food is always divine and the staff is so friendly that it's like going over your friend's house and eating dinner there. more
