I always used MARIA Janocha but she switched to waren tricomi on upper east, staff recommended someone else.....uggggghhhh should've just followed maria to 83 and Madison cause the cut and whole experience just wasn't the same. Next time iam going back to maria!!!! more

I visited Mark Garrison over a month ago, my cut and color are still fabulous! Edita was warm and attentive and listened carefully. She expertly restored my hair to its natural color minus the gray! Hiroshi gave me a cut that is easy to style which I think it is evidence of a great cut. The entire staff was courteous and the the salon in clean and well managed. I will defintely be returning. more

I have recently visited Mark Garrison in New York City for highlights. Was amazed at the job done but more amazed at my new haircut. Never a person to go to a professional to get a cut, I was always struggling to find the right one. I finally did after so many years. His name is Alex. A true master. Alex realized my vision into reality! He was very professional and dedicated in what I call a true talent and hard work! There is one less unhappy woman in this world! I am an international student and I am so glad that I don't have to keep looking for a good colorist in the US. Edita is not just good- she is AMAZING, and such a nice person too. I came in with a horrible dye job and I left the salon a different person. She was incredibly conscientious and seems very devoted to her work and her clients. The two hour train I took to go see her were totally worth it. She will make you look--and feel--beautiful! more

I JUST LOVE PATRICIA R...... don't know how I'll survive without her, now that I can't come back to NYC on a regular basis. I used to live in NYC and then moved to Scottsdale, but thank goodness work always brought me back, and i was able to get my hair highlights. I tried hi end, low end, mid end ...you name it (even Vidal Sassoon) salons in Scottsdale and no one was able to give me the natural blond highlights that I asked for, you know like Jennifer Aniston. I showed a picture to Patricia and she got me right away...this was 6 Years ago... SHE IS THE BEST BLOND COLORIST OUT THERE!! I will miss her for sure!! She is caring , accommodating, sweet and very professional and knowledgeable, and she will tell you what will work and what will not work, which is great, since she does know best. I always leave feeling like a Million bucks (with the exception of some of the blow outs form the beginners).. and i don't mind spending the cash as i know I'm getting a great color. (I used to go to John Barrett salon, but the color wasn't that great and it was crazy expensive). more

I have been going to Adita to have my hair highlighted since my senior year of high school (I am now out of college). She's great- I don't even have to tell her what I want her to do anymore, I just sit down and every time my hair comes out looking great. It's always a really enjoyable experience! more

I had originally picked the this salon just because they participatein the Pantene Beautiful Lengths program -- (every single Wednesday you can schedule for a great free cut by a talented stylist when you donate a min of 8 inches of hair). Didn't know what to expect- I mean for free. Well this staff and stylist ROCK! I was greated by kind welcomeing people. My stylist, James was kind warm and listed to what I had to say; I was able to do good deed and still get quality service. I will go back as a paying customer! more

I've been to the most popular and expensive colorists' in the city, but none live up to their hype or PRICE! My friend turned me on to Edita and while I lost the friend I kept EDITA! Always on time, always caring, but above all, talented. What sets her apart from the others is the amount of thought and care she gives to achieve the perfect color balance and depth for my skin color. Finding a great colorist is like finding your perfect perfume. Once you've found it, you'll know because people comment Edita, is a find, look no further. more

Edita is an amazing colorist as well as a beautiful person. Her work is second to none. She is always professional and smiling...if she was ever having a bad day you would never know it. Edita listens to what you want and will do whatever it takes to achieve your desired color and make sure you leave happy! more

Joseph - Colorist - egotistical, unprofessional, rude, complained that he had to correct his work after it came out poorly, rigid in his thinking and approach, unwilling to accept suggestion or feedback. I can not even see any highights through out the length of my hair from my visit with him, only on the top. He insisted he knew what he was doing, so he proceeded to create his art...unfortunately his ego is large and his work came out like crap. I still had noticeable roots after he highlighted me. He had a small temper tantrum when I brough it to his attention. I honestly feel sorry for him for how unprofessional he conducted himself. Maybe he had an 'off day', however I would not reccomend him for highlights, unless all you want is your root touched up. (and your looking for someone who's got a stick up his you know where... doing your hair) more

When I needed a top stylist for the photo on one of my book covers, I fortunately discovered the artistry of Mark Garrison. He was working with Frederick Fekkai at the time. Since then I have been a loyal customer -- delighted with his salon in every way. I find the staff to be warm, accessible, & accommodating. It is no accident that the majority of reviews for the Mark Garrison Salon are 5 star. I have also read the few unflattering reviews and all I can say is that some people are never satisfied! The fact that someone would suggest that Mark's STAFF wrote the positive reviews as advertisements is ridiculous. Mark's establishment is first rate -- quality and class. It stands on its own merits. My beautiful color is a tribute to the talented ""Joseph"" -- and I travel from Hartford,CT. for his expert touch. I have never left the MG Salon unhappy with my cut or color. Mark has worked hard to earn his stellar reputation. He is caring, intense, and fiercely devoted to his customers. It is true that he multitasks because he tries to please everyone. People who complain that his attention is ""divided"" probably wouldn't complain when they are the ones being given a quick bang trim. If you want a cookie cutter stylist who will fawn all over you and feed your ego, look elsewhere. Mark is not impressed. He is an artist. He is dedicated to making each client look and feel wonderful in a setting that is friendly and unpretentious -- a welcome relief from some of the stuffy salons in the city!! When I was 13 years old my mom treated me to a haircut by Mark Garrison and I have been going back ever since. Sanae cuts my hair now. She is wonderful and precise. When I get a few highlights Joseph puts them in. He has the ability to put in just the right amount and the correct shade, making my highlights look extremely natural. Getting my hair cut at Mark Garrison's has become a tradition for my mom and I and we always look forward to it! Pros: A great experience with wonderful results! more

A dozen years ago I stopped a women on the street in Connecticut to tell her that her hair was great and to ask her where she had it done? Since then I have been having my hair cut by Mark and colored by Joseph. Sitting in one of his chairs waiting for your turn is the stuff documentaries are made of. As he approaches each client he brings vision, skill and a unique ability to bring out the best look for the individual. As he cuts, he checks your face in the mirror and when he is done, it is perfection. He is so good, you can close your eyes. Pros: The Perfect Haircut - You can close your eyes! more

Ive been going to Mark Garrison for years for my color, I couldn't afford going to my colorist any longer and he recommended i see Johnny. He was amazing. He did my color wonderfully and took his time. I am so happy I didn't have to leave the salon and my color looks amazing still! If you are looking for great color at a reasonable price see Johnny. everytime I get my highlights done with Sam, there is never, ever a problem. I find many colorists have issues doing blonds because apparently its difficult to get the right shade each and every time. Sam seems to know exactly what shade works best whether it be against skin tone or change of season. it's so refreshing to know that i will never, ever be disappointed when Sam is doing my color. He puts the right amount of highlights in the right place. I am so fortunate to have found him. Pros: never a disappointment Cons: none! more

Redd does an unbelievable job with my Brazalian keratin treatment. It came out pin straight with zero frizz and looks fabulous!! She pays exceptional attention to detail and did not leave one hair out of place. I love the fact that my blow drys will now take half the amount of time! It takes me a full day to come and go from upstate NY to get my hair cut by Mark, as well as colored by his staff. I have been making this haul for a number of years, because there is no second best once you've experienced Mark Garrison. Mark is incomparable in his attention to detail, and his ability to style very different looking people to their own individual look and best.. It's really quite a remarkable show just to watch Mark as he transforms people of various backgrounds and looks, with all kinds of hair. He has a vision of where he's going with each unique cut, and the result is so natural-looking, while highly finished and professional. I went to Mark Garrison Salon for the first time. I was lucky to have Senior Hair Colorist Edita Roberston-she is the best hair colorist I ever had! After I got my hair done my Edita. I did not have to wait for people to tell me how great I looked.My highlights came out so good & perfect-they really stood out and were subtle at the same time-very classy. I was amazed with how fast she was with foiling-I have VERY LONG hair, and it was in a few minutes she had my whole head! I loved her because she was very direct, honest & personal and did NOT PUSH anything on me, which I hate. I asked her to trim my bangs and she did! I liked and appreciated the I was NOT pushed to the side or had a rush job due to the fact that equal amount of attention-and she was very busy-I had appointment week of Thanksgiving. I could tell by the way she worked and talked to me that she was genuinely interested in making my appearance as good as it can be. I was surprised on how friendly the staff was despite the upscale salon. Pros: Beautiful hair, top quality, very professional salon Cons: too popular? I can't think of any. more
