Best Indian Restaurant in the city of Dallas 5/15/2010

I have been to Manna Indian Restaurant multiple times, i have also taken many of my American Friends there. This is one of the best restaurants in the city of Dallas, They provide authentic food, service is great, and they are very friendly people. They show that they care about you which is very uncommon in other restaurants here in dallas It is a pleasure to eat there. I recommend this restaurant for all. To the ""Nash Koya"" writing in an unprofessional and standard less manner on here (for eg: using words like koothara), i have to say, Sir or Ms. If you feel that Manna Indian restaurant does not provide authentic kerala dishes, trust me you have no clue as to what kerala, or even indian food is. From your use of language its very evident that you are a classless person, and you need to ask your parents to teach you some manners. There is a manner to speak to/about people, businesses etc. as far as i know, there are no dangling wires nor blaring TV...dont write reviews using classless language because you have nothing better to do at home. Thanks, Jibu Pros: Everything Cons: A little far from highway 75, but its worth the drive more

Koothara! (Means, worst of the worst) 4/20/2010

Thalle! KOOOTHARA place! \r \r ""KOOTHARA"" means, ""absolutely the worst experience you can imagine""\r \r The food was bad, the service was bad...food tastes nothing like it is from Kerala. The place is expensive too! I felt I was ripped off my money. ""Pannenmaar!"" They are not professional either. If you need any service, you will have to wait just too long before they notice you and come to you and dont be surprised if there are not many table occupied and yet you will have to wait.\r \r Unprofessional setup...wires dangling from the walls...blaring TV. They are only interested in getting you catering order. They dont even stock up on their buffet!!! The fish curry tasted bitter!! how can you mess it up to that level?\r \r My suggestion: If you like to have good Indian food, please dont go there. There are many others that you will find in Dallas. Cons: Everything about it! more

Best Indian Restaurant in Dallas area 4/20/2010

I would highly recommend eating out at Manna Indian Restaurant and keep going back because there is great variety of very delicious Indian and south Indian food. Really enjoy the atmosphere there and I am a repeat customer. Just recently for Easter they had a special Duck Roast that was absolutely tasty and perfectly made. The price is moderate and perfect for what you get. Pros: Authentic, tasty, variety, friendly, and nothing but good!! more

best kerala food i have eaten in a long while 2/24/2009

I have been to Manna before on weekdays and food was comparable to other desi restaurants.. same butter chicken , nan, tandoori chicken, biryani etc same things you will get at all other indian restaurants.. \r \r But this Sunday the food I had at Manna was a revelation. I did not touch the Nan or Biryani, instead i loaded up on the idiappam , appam, kappa ,fish curry, chicken curry everything tasted different from the regular fare we get else where. I was very pleased. I am looking forward to going there next sunday too.\r I would strongly recommend this place Pros: Great food, service & ambience Cons: make weekday buffet in sync with weekend more

Don't get fooled by the mail 2/11/2009

We went there after getting the mail. The food is not tastey. Ther are not much verities. It did not appear to be a professional place. more

Worst Food and Worst service 1/22/2009

We went there couple of weeks ago on a sunday and never had such a worst food in our life. The fish is bitter taste and can't even imagine how some one can present such bad food in a restaurant. We were so disappointed. Pros: Sunday Food is the Worst Cons: Avoid this place more

Not good in the Weekdays 1/16/2009

I went to this Restaurant today (Friday - Weekday). There are no varieties on week days. We went to taste Kerala specials. We were much disappointed. They asked us to come on the weekends. There will be fish on Sunday and some more Kerala varieties. This rating & comments are only for weekdays.. Pros: We can't go to this Restaurant on weekdays along with friends... more

Avoid This Place 11/30/2008

Eating at Manna Restaurant was one of my worst eating out disappointments. It is overpriced and the buffet spread barely had any food in it. Somebody had written about the unprofessional nature of the main cook or the chef and I find it absolutely true. As some of my friends had remarked earlier, this guy befits the role of an unmitigated unprofessional fellow. Ladies in my company found his gestures extremely uncomfortable. The food is miserable...in the first place the choice is not wide and whatever is displayed on the serving trays are not even enough for two persons. Why waste your time, money and pleasures of the palate when we have other brilliant Indian restaurants handling their jobs with utmost professionalism?AVOID AT ALL COST... more

Best place in DFW for typical Kerala style Indian dishes 11/20/2008

This is the only restaurant in DFW I know of which serves typical Kerala dishes in a sit down restaurant, and Manna does a great job . The new location in the same complex is more spacious and has a better ambiance than the old place. The staff and chef are friendly and attentive. The kappa (mashed tapioca) was consistenlty soft throughout and the fish curry seemed to have little puli (tart) at all but was with plenty fish pieces seasoned well to suit. The appams (rice flour pancakes) with Kerala style chicken curry were a surprise to see on the buffet, and a real treat, particularly as the chicken currry tasted authentically Kerala style. Hope to see in the future some Kerala style chumunthi (ground coconut sauce) for the idlis, and semiya payasam for dessert. I applaud Manna for a great start in the pleasing the palate of Kerala food epicureans and give Manna a four star. I can't wait to return and see what's new. Pros: Kerala style dishes expose palates to the spices of Malabar coast &Kerala fare Cons: would like more Kerala dishes more

Prices are too high 11/6/2008

Masala Dosa is average, I don't say it is not good but the price of it is on the higher side. Other than Dosa I don't find anything worth even trying. All the prices are too high. more

Good Ambiance & Friendly atmosphere 10/29/2008

I went to this restaurant this weekend. I liked the food. Fish was awesome! I liked all the dishes they served. I think everybody have to go and try it. Pros: Good Food Cons: I dont see any cons more

Un professional place 10/24/2008

We went to this place and it is not a good place to with families. The guy who cooks there is not professional. Pros: unprofessional and caotic Cons: can't go with ladies more

Cheap and Good 10/17/2008

Great food especially the chicken biriyani. Menu list is shorter but the taste lasts longer. Excellent food for the cost. I would recommend my friends. Next month they are moving to a bigger space. more

It's not worth 9/7/2008

I tried Manna and it is not worth. The mutton they serving is very poor quality. The food has no mallu taste , it has a Shan masala taste. The number of items are very less and the food is oily . Over all it is not worth going there. Pros: The food is not good Cons: It's not worth trying more

Great food 8/21/2008

Excellent food!!! They have good mixture of south india and north indian food. For mallus, this is a good place to be when you miss Kerala food. Chicken biriyani is fantastic. Kappa , fish fry , fish curry , beef fry, and different varities of dosa are available there. We often used to go there directly from our office and even though the resturant looks a little smaller in ambience, the food and the customer service is great... Pros: Great south indian especially mallu food , fantastci chicken biriyani Cons: Ambience can be improved more

Good Mallu food 8/21/2008

Its a good, small place with friendly staff. Food is good especially Biriyani?infact, I'm addicted! Close to my home. They are new to this area but I can see they coming up very fast. Their Chef is very interactive to each and every guest to collect feedback and trying to improve. more

Delicious Buffet & Great Service 8/15/2008

I stopped in here to Manna Indian this week after reading these other reviews & while I agree this is a small place I say it's quaint & I was very impressed with the quality of the items served at their lunch buffet. I've been into Indian food for a couple years now, and while I'm not an expert I was extremely satisfied with the freshness & also the staff was very helpful in explaining some of the choices which I hadn't ever tried, so I felt quite at home here & wish this adorable place much success! Yum - I will definitely be back! more

great lunch buffet 8/7/2008

My wife and I had the opportunity to visit Manna for lunch during the week. While we were there a little after the lunch hour, the buffet was still filled and hot. The selection is not extensive but everything in the buffet is well prepared and quite delicious.\r \r Espectially good were the cabbage and peas and the pan fried okra. I didn't try the goat curry but my wife said it was very good. the tandori chicked and the chicken tiki were excellent. The dishes were spicy ( a good thing since it is Indian cuisine) and they served fresh, warm naan at the table.\r \r I love Indian soups and I missed them at this buffet but that is a small disappointment. \r Desert is only kheer but it was very good. It was cold (again, a good thing) with a mixture of nuts and raisins with a creamy texture.\r \r Overall, the food was great and the owners were very friendly. The chef even came out to check on us.\r Should you go there? Absolutely! We will be going back soon. more

SMALL YET SIGNIFICANT 8/6/2008

If you are used to large Indian restaurants that advertise and provide 40 dishes per buffet, then Manna is not the place for you. The place hardly has 10 tables, and as the other reviewers have pointed out - the buffet is rather limited. To top it off, the service can be sporadic although the hostess, chef and owner do their level best to provide a hospitable ambience.\r \r Why then should you attempt to visit Manna? In short, Manna specializes NOT in Indian Cuisine, but in cuisine from Kerala - a state in the southwestern part of India where the people are friendly and the food is nothing short of excellent. (Full disclosure: I hail from India but am NOT from Kerala; although I have visited several times!).\r \r Vegetarians should try their ""Avial"" (vegetables in coconut based broth for non-Indians) which is as authentic as possible; and Naan lovers should savour their ""Kerala Parotas"" (Bread) which is crispy, and full of flavour. They also serve a special kind of ""boiled"" rice which is very popular in Kerala.\r \r For the carnivores, the chicken tikka masala is succulent and creamy, while the beef korma can definitely hold its own. The fish curry (a favourite among Keralites) hits the spot, and will be a novel experience for many.\r \r To round out the ""limited"" menu, they also have sauces, chutneys, dessert and vegetable puffs (vegetables in baked puff pastry). Their $7.99 weekday lunch buffet price may seem a little outrageous to some, but what they lack in quantity, they more than make up in quality. They have just strated and are in the process of hitting their stride, so lets give them some time to get everything right. Pros: Great food and very good service Cons: Ambience could be better more

Not worth it 8/3/2008

It is a small place, not much varieties for 10$ buffet. I was there on Sunday lunch, most of the dishes were simple. The roti was good, but the gravies were mediocre. There was no chutney and the dessert was not fresh. Cons: not many options for the buffet. not a professional staff, much chaotic. chef talking loud etc.. more
