Two years ago I had a large antique rug cleaned at Christian-Lorraine. I inherited the rug 20 years ago and enjoyed it all those years until my dog urinated on it. Christian-Lorraine suggested the longer cleaning process (soaking) in order to get the urine out of the rug. Figuring they were an old, established business, I agreed. My rug is now ruined. Every time I go into my living room I see more places where the fibers have disintegrated, more bare spots. Each time I leave the room with a pit in my stomach. This family heirloom is deteriorating before my eyes. For 20 years there was no sign of decay and the minute I got it back from Christian-Lorraine it began to visibly deteriorate. I was referred to this rug expert by a reputable rug company in Cary Town. I had a runner that my elderly dog urinated on and needed to get it professionally cleaned. Christian-Lorraine makes you sign a disclaimer form before they will take your rug. (not an option). They ruined my rug completely. When we spoke to the employee and owner they did take any responsibility. Urine and cleaning chemicals will ruin your rug and they knew it was highly likely to happen, yet they didn't mention nor cared about good customer service. They showed me the disclaimer form where it states they are not liable. End of story. We asked for reimbursement of our cleaning fee of $60 and they said no. Terrible customer service, no apologies, basically didn't care. Stay away and tell everyone you know to save their money and go elsewhere if you have the same situation. I have a house full of oriental rugs and will never go to them to clean any of them because of they way I was treated. Basically they returned to me a very clean ruined rug!
