If you frequent to places like Morimoto, Buddakan, Steak 954 or Nobu you will love this place too. This is one of Starr Restaurant family. Above average Japanese restaurant where you can expect best of the best in service, quality of food ingredients and presentation. Chef Makoto has worked under very talented sushi Masters in Japan & US including being Morimoto’s assistance for years. I would not say he is the best in the country but his culinary skill exceeds Morimoto’s level and certainly the best Sushi chef in south Florida. Whatever he creates is not the fake stuff you see on the Iron Chef show (An Iron chef hires chefs to create menu for him and the Iron chef gets the credits). Selection of fish is not as wide as Morimoto NYC but I guess this is the best they could do down here. I am not too crazy about Americanized Sushi so whenever Makoto is there I do the Omakase otherwise order from Robata menu. When you decide to go there, think it is like a going to a theater, enjoy the ambience, watch chefs in action and get ready to take photos when the servers bring your food. Indulge yourself into the ultimate culinary creation and don’t worry about your bill. You can always get a loan. more

This is our new favorite restaurant in Miami Beach. The food is excellent, and beautifully presented. The ambiance of the restaurant is very pleasing, either inside, or on the beautiful tropical patio. It is in the Bal Harbor Shops, and is situated right next to the pond with the koi fish and turtles. The experience was so outstanding that we ate there 5 times in 9 days! more

It's good, really good. Yes it's expensive, but it's in Bal Harbour. What do you expect? more

Prices are very reasonable for the location, the sushi rolls are not that big but they are delicious same with the spice tuna crispy rice, I ordered mochi for dessert and it was sooo good but also small. Service was great, ambiance was good. Located in a good spot. more

This dish was one of the best dishes I have ever had! First I thought that raw frozen meat would not be a good with rice but when all was mixed with the half cooked egg, it ended up being a very delicious surprise. more

Very Expensive and not flavorful enough. You might call it creative but not enough to make you crave it. more

Delicious, new, trendy Japanese tapas-style food. Try the Frosty Kobe fried rice--very tasty. Also, we had the Kobe beef cooked tabletop which was also delicious. Our server was also very attentive and helpful. Definitely recommend. more

As a long time fan of Stephen Starr's Philly restaurants, we were delighted he brought his talents to the Bal Habour Mall. You won't be disappointed no matter what you try. We especially enjoyed the Black Cod with fried rice. more
