It's would be a nice place to get a quick drink and something to eat. However the service isn't quick enough for that appeal. It's ok if you just want drinks but the service isn't great and the food really isn't worth the wait. more

The idea of the restaurant is cute and definitely has a 'cozy' feel to it. Considering it has been such a cold week in NYC, seating guests next to a non-insulated window without adequate heat, was annoying. Waitress took forever to finally get to our table, introduce herself and at least take our drink orders. She wasn't very attentive, my drink was empty for a good 10minutes before I had to get myself and ask for another one. We enjoyed the food, but it's not ideal to eat with a jacket on because it's so cold. I had to ask for the check myself, and as we were leaving I over heard the 60something year old man who was either just a host, or the owner and the waitress discussing fellow guests ""she looks miserable"" etc etc. Not impressed with that kind of behavior, service or anything else for that matter. Cute restaurant and wait staff but AVOID THIS PLACE! The food is repulsive. Onion rings that have a nutmeg in the batter and served with a huge bowl of mayo w/blue cheese chunks. Hands down the most disgusting food I have ever had. Like giant onion donuts sprinkled with nutmeg. There was a charred trout that tasted like licking a dirty outdoor grill. It arrived at the table black as coal and had a terrible after taste. There was a mushy bland chicken smothered in mushroom sauce. A pungent beet salad with salmon that tasted like a salt lick. It was a memorable meal because it was so terrible. Cute bar but I couldn't go back after the catastrophe of a meal. Pros: cute space Cons: repulsive food more

its great to see country fried steak and ny strip on the menu, but when you actually eat it, you know that you've had better, much better.\r \r plus the service, unfortunately like many restaurants in williamsburg that employ flaky people, leaves something to be desired. don't EVER ask for attention beyond the norm, you will be disappointed. This place is not great at all. Avoid it. I ordered delivery for brunch today. The French Toast was seven dollars, and consisted of two hunks of bread. That's it. No syrup. No berries. And it was advertised with berries. Just bread. And the sweet potato fries were cold and mushy. \r \r I called to complain. And they were rude, which I expected. But they consented to send another order of the French toast. Which was kind of better. they put the berries on it that time. I threw most of it away. Kind of a waste of a place. The steak is waaaaay to salty. I have tried it 2x thinking maybe there was a new salt loving chef the first time, but nope salty beyond edible. Both times had to toss. I have always really enjoyed the atmosphere - decor, open windows, lodge feel - but inevitably am turned off by the drama and attitude of the staff here. A hipster watering hole, but I love it. This is one of my favorite places in Williamsburg for brunch on the weekends. Expansive windows let in tons of sunlight. A large bar area to wait for your table - it makes the 20-30 minute for a table quite pleasant. The crowd is very upbeat and very Williamsburg. In the winter, they have a good selection of hot drinks and their 2 for 1 mimosas and bloody mary's are also a draw. The food is good, except for the shrimp and grits - I usually love shrimp and grits and their attempt at it here is terrible. The pancakes (especially banana) are absolutely amazing and huge - they're the thickest pancakes ever. Finally, the tongue in cheek decor is amusing (think trailer trash chic). It's a fun place to go for brunch, but I've never been there for any other meals. Pros: 2 for 1 drinks at brunch, awesome pancakes Cons: very slow service, usually a wait at brunch more

This was my second time eating at Lodge ? I remember liking the decor and the atmosphere the first time, and I remember not liking the food that much but I thought that I had ordered the wrong thing at the time (mussels: runny, stringy, not fresh). My husband and I decided to give it a second go ?the bread was some kind of doughy , warm, white bread which would have been delish with sweet butter, but was served with a plate of oil/vinegar...yikes! He ordered the same thing he got the first time, the trout (with greens and shrimp hushpuppies), which was cooked perfectly, with a salty crust, firm, crisp greens but the hushpuppies had no trace of shrimp and were like rubber. He ordered a vodka tonic and when it arrived with a lemon wedge, he asked for a lime and the waitress forgot. Twice. I ordered off of the specials menu: Grouper with asparagus risotto ? the grouper was RAW. I sent it back to be cooked more (I was very apologetic) and the waitress slapped it on my bread plate (klassy) and it came back about 45 seconds later hotter, but still raw. The ?risotto? was actually rice pilaf with pimento, peas and flecks of asparagus in a cheeseless sauce (this was NOT risotto) and tasted like cafeteria food. There was a pointless mound of sundried tomato paste on top of the fish that made no sense?I pushed my food around and the waitress asked if everything was ok, and I said that I think I ordered the wrong thing, but the dish wasn?t what I thought it was going to be ? we felt bad, it wasn?t her fault?then my husband told her about the risotto, but she just shrugged, acted upset, and walked away and then we were done as far as the restaurant was concerned. She didn?t offer us anything more, and we got odd stares from the restaurant staff after that point. Very professional. If you must go, order something simple that they?ve made a thousand times and just be happy to be in a cute neighborhood. Don?t go expecting great food, because you won?t find it here. Went there 4 times cause I live a few blocks away. I have given up. The waiters forget about you. The food is nothing to talk about. Far too many good places to eat. Go to Diner, Relish, Dumont, or Dressler. Oh yeah, the specials did not changed in the year I went there. Whats so special about food cooked in PBR? Nothing. more

Ive given this place many tries and everytime i forget how good the food was because the waiters leave you wondering if you have finally succeeded in becoming invisible. The place has great decor and a good overall feeling. It seems like a free-for-all for the servers. Yesterday i arrived early for brunch, before all the tables were full and was very optimistic because the waiter seemed above par. As the place filled up you could tell it was getting too crazy to handle. i waited 25 minutes after asking for the check for it to arrive, not to mention watched our waiter give at least 4 other tables their checks. This place is always packed on the weekends and it amazes me that they still cant give decent service. But in hindsight the food is always great. The tofu scramble is always fresh and flavorful and they keep it exciting with specials like white lasagna. I guess im still ambivalent. Lodge has been one of my favorite places since moving to the neighborhood last year. I always meet friends there to sit for a few hours to talk, its very comfortable. I have found the staff to be very friendly and easy to talk with. I enjoy the whiskey and bourbon selection and love the veggie burger. The specials are always great, the halibut this past week was delicious! I would deffinitely recommend this restaurant. The General Store deli attached is a great place to get a good cup of coffee and sandwich or salad. I want to say thanks to the staff for always providing great service and conversation, they've made lodge a real staple in the neighborhood!! Pros: ambience, great bloody marys more

I was hoping that the poor service I had the first time I ate here was a one time thing, unfortunately it has only gotten worse. Not only did we double order food because our server didn't tell us that our entrees came with it already but found out our drink specials were not really ""specials"" at all when we received the bill! The food here is basically average so it is definitely not worth putting up with the ridiculous service. I recommend anywhere else in the neighborhood. Has Schlitz beer for a $1 or so, can't beat that when chowing down on some home style grub in a place that looks like a cabin! I've had drinks at The Lodge, I've had brunch, and I've had lunch. The owner was there having some Gnostic Society meeting with his greaser buddies when I was there for drinks, and he was nice enough to offer a free shot of Jack to everyone at the bar in good will. The Lodge feels homey and cozy, so I'll always like it for that. It's got a nice layout and huge wrap-around windows that let in lots of light from the street. You can people-watch or just read the paper while you have brunch. Although, I wasn't crazy with my food when I had brunch there, and the waiter never brought my drink order. I dove in there for lunch on a cold, rainy afternoon one time last winter, and the chicken pot-pie with puff pastry on top was just what the doctor ordered. That and the Lodge Iced Tea (their version of a Long Island Iced Tea) certainly brought the warmth back to my spirits. I've never had to wait to be seated and I think it's a reliable place for a nice time out. Pros: No Wait, Nice Space, Cozy, Food's Good Cons: Iffy Service, Blah Brunch more

Really nice atmosphere and friendly staff make for a good spot here in Williamsburg. The food is quite good and my absolute favorite thing was the BLT made with tofu bacon.. I would have never normally liked something like that but it was amazing..their bread was delicious as well. more
