Living Arts College was perfect for me because here it is more about the work you produce and less on test scores and spending long nights studying. Classes are fun and you get to...

This school is basically the result of clever advertising. They'll do anything to draw you in and get your money. They say its state of the art training but that?s complete bullsh...

I was a part of the medical program there. Had I known the conditions of this school I would have never attended. I did graduate and I am employed but no thanks to many of the teachers. I mean many because I had a lot of them come and go. The director of education is a liar and womanizer. He sexually harasses his staff and carry on unprofessional relationships with them while he is married. The instructors no matter how good they teach are treated like they are just a number and get fired for no reason. The Vice President doesn't care about the school only the money that they can bring in so that she can travel. She is so busy traveling that she doesn't see how poorly the school is being managed by the incompetent staff and whorish Director of Education. If you love drama and disorganization then this is the place for you... Don't believe me then enroll and see for yourself. Half of the positive comments on this school are created by staff members or creative students because they were treated better then the medical students. What a joke of a college.... I am successful only because they supplied the books that I had to study on my own and a few good instructors that are no longer there I am sure. more

I love my LAC!! I have been an employee of Living Arts College since 2004 and have loved my experience working here as much as I enjoyed being a student. \r \r I was a student from 2001 to 2004 and earned my Associates in Digital Animation. We always had the most current software packages and the staff to teach the curriculum. Most companies didn't even have the most current software as quickly as the school had it installed on each computer. \r \r I was also lucky enough to go to Promax BDA 2005 which is a broadcast design conference held in NY. It was an eye opening experience to see just how many different fields it takes to run a network or create award winning films, commercials, documentaries, etc. The College offers students many chances to go to different conferences all around the country in all types of fields of study. Such as, Siggraph, Promax BDA, Cucalorus Film Festival, AES Audio Conference, GDC, NAB, Look3 Festival of the Photograph and countless other opportunities to network with professionals in their field of study.\r \r In short, I am a better, more informed and educated individual because of my long relationship with Living Arts College. I love my LAC! more

I had a great experience at Living Arts College; the education I received was exactly what I was looking for. I had opportunities to work with industry professionals in the recording studio as well as getting hands on, real world experience. The college owns a Solid State Duality super analogue console; this piece of gear has made all the difference. Aside from the great equipment, the best experiences I received from the college were with my professors. The faculty worked closely with me, they were patient and always willing to help me advance. They challenged me to always go beyond my own expectations, they pushed me to always be professional and they taught me how to create my own opportunities. more

Went to school for audio and ended up finding my passion for design. The instructors were great in helping me find my passion and changing degrees. That is one of the best things about this school is the one on one attention you get from the instructors. Great school!!! more

Being a graduate from the college, I wanted to post a review of my experience at the school. There are many mixed reviews online, some that are great and some that are very, very bad. What you need to understand about this school is that you are going to get what you put into it. If you just come to class and do the projects, you will graduate with a nice education and probably land an average industry job. But if you come to this school and put forth effort, you will be successful. You will read on other reviews that the college is small, which it is, but I saw that as a good thing because I came from a private high school that was smaller. I have always worked better when teachers have the ability to sit with you one on one outside of class. At Living Arts College you get this because the school is smaller and the instructors are willing to help if you just ask for it. While in school, I always took the extra time to get to know my teachers. I never had a situation where they said they were too busy to help, if they were busy, they would set a time for me to come back and see them.\r \r As far as accreditation goes, you are not able to transfer the courses you take from the school. But if you're planning on graduating from here, that's not an issue. I can take my bachelor's degree to NC State and get my Masters if I want. But if you are planning on coming to the school and leaving before you graduate, you won't be able to transfer the courses. \r \r Another great thing about the school is the other students at the school. You are surrounded by creative people. These are the types that always doodled in class and had their imaginations running wild. Not only are these people fellow students but could one day be your co worker. So getting to know your fellow students is something I always tried to do and surround myself with the students who cared about their work and worked hard. There are students here that don't care about their work, and try to interrupt class and are always on facebook. But you will find these types everywhere you go. I am assuming that most of the negative reviews come from these students cause they get upset when the teachers critique there work and they can't handle it. I could always tell when a student had just thrown something together a few minutes before then expect a high grade. When they drop out because they are wasting their parent's money, they go online and bash the school. So don't listen to everything you read. I would suggest coming to the school and talking to some of the students. Most everyone is very nice and should be very helpful. Full Sail has the same type of reviews saying scam, don't come here.. so really you just need to research and pay attention to the reviews that people actually took the time to write.\r \r A big part of this school is the cost, it is very expensive. But if you compare it to another major creative school called Full Sail, it is a lot less. I worked hard and kept a 4.0 average so I was able to take advantage of scholarships and grants. Again, this is where you get what you put into it. So yes it is expensive but what school isn't other than community colleges nowadays.\r \r To sum up my experience, it was a really good one. I wouldn't have some of the opportunities I have now if it wasn't for coming to Living Arts College. You get to meet industry professionals and really get a taste of what is to come when you graduate. The one on one attention you get here and the extra time teachers give you if you ask for it is what makes this school stand out the most for me. The school is not perfect, but if you come here and work hard, you will find that opportunities are all around you.\r more

The good thing about the teachers here is they are easy to talk to. They are also professionals. They make classes comfortable but professional for the students so we can ask questions and get comments on our projects. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 9/15/2012

After attending classes at the School for 6 quarters (1 and a half years) I would have to say there are the students who take learning seriously and stand out, and then students who cave in at each step because they are fearful of resistance and challenge. I consider myself the first. I believe it is likely that many other reviews here are from the second. Make up your own mind. These review sites are seat-of-the-pants by nature. Take note of my tone, calm and collected. Then read some of the other reviews. Filled with personal attacks and disparage. more

Great school for creative types! 3/26/2012

The College is a grand place for a creative like me. Sometimes the work is hard but I am more than pleased with my education. Another great thing is they have guest lectures that are varyied and are present at numerous events through the year. It has helped me grow and I can feel it. As I look forward to graduating, I also have definitely enjoyed my college career at Living Arts College. more

Joke of a 'College"", SHADY "" Director of Education"" 2/27/2012

This place is a Joke. They want one thing...MONEY. The current director of education claims to be a ""doctor"" and sexually harasses his staff while the VP of the school is a drunk who looks like she should be on a broom or in a casket. Do yourself a favor and pick a real school. You WILL be abused here. more

A joke with no punchline 11/6/2011

This school is a business. They are not a school. Their main focus is to get you in the door. Their ""Medical Arts"" program is a perfect example. What does medical filing and billing have to do with art? Money. They want your money and they will whore themselves however they can to get it. * They are currently undergoing renovations to the outside while the equipment inside falls apart. * Their application process is a joke, if you can manage to sign your name at the X you are in. * Are you a convicted criminal? No problem! This is the only school around with no background check. Thugs and psychopaths welcome! * Like racism? this school is perfect for you. No matter what color you are you will be alienated! On the other hand, like any other school in the world, there are a handful of hardworking, talented people in this building. But you will hardly notice them with the hordes of mediocrity in the way. Do yourself a favor and look into going to a real university, you may find they are cheaper, and offer a higher standard of education. There are also many fine tutorials and online schools out there. For instance, Full Sail Offers an online bachelors program that is cheaper, and they give you a decent laptop, with all the software you need. No matter what school you decide to go to, RESEARCH them! Ask who the teachers are and look at their portfolios. Be skeptical. And remember, just because something is expensive it doesn't mean it's better! more

My review; no free lunch, so why hate? 11/6/2011

I go here and could not disagree enough with the last post. LAC costs almost the same as any other college degree? Some of staff are sorta interesting but I am in a CREATIVE program! The professors are great and helpful and it's a fun place to go to college. I am learning every day and hope winter semester is just as good! more

Money hungry 10/24/2011

Once they get there hands on your financial aid thats all they care about, They do not have it together there and thats the true I do not advise anyone to attend this school , this is a lesson learn, I made a mistake, its a lesson learned, never again. more

great experience 9/20/2011

I am proud to say that I have had a great experience at Living Arts College. I studied animation and video games. I feel each instructor is unique and has something of great quality to bring to the table. All of them are well informed, experienced and ready to answer my questions. Some of them are very tough though nurturing and really believe in what they are teaching. Portfolio development happens over many quarters and not just in one class, even though there is a class for it. They give us the tools to venture out and find our place. more

Good experience so far 9/5/2011

All around I've liked my time at the school so far. I am almost through Summer and I can't wait for Fall. Happy Labor Day!! more

So important! 9/4/2011

They show you how you have to network and network and network if you want to get your name and work out there and be noticed! more

THE EXPERIENCE 9/1/2011

I ENJOYED MY EXPERIENCE at the school! people sometimes are going to school for university or they are looking for a more personal experience and LAC is the second not the first. LAC allowed me to concentrate on what I needed to learn and getting a job what I enjoy doing. we learned a lot in the Graphics, Film and Special Effects classes. quickly loading footage into the editing program, added a little special effects to go with the rest of the title scene and they were done and ready to go. they also showed us mounting equipment that is used to help keep steady and smooth moving footage while recording. I like the classes and they keep it interesting. more

support tools 7/14/2011

The instructors give very valuable information to an upcoming creative like myself. They helped me discover the value of the tools instead of making a purchase without the knowledge. When it comes to developing your abilities and ready for your career, great pointers about working hard to build your portfolio, even when it is pro bono work. A good portfolio will get you very far in the industry. I loved the quality of work demonstrated at what they called redcarpet events. more
