Overpriced and overrated - food is good, atmosphere - not so 8/6/2011

Our visit was a planned birthday party, which started a little late due to Haddonfield traffic and road constructions. First sign of trouble was management stubbornness in honoring previously made arrangements ($25/dinner deal). Even though we called ahead and informed of traffic delays, the server and management refuse to honor previously agreed upon deal. We should have just walked out at that point, but with large party and good reviews (what a lie) we decided to stay. We were sitted on second floor, and immediately we assaulted by loud and rowdy guests who probably had too much to drink beforehand and were not controlled in any way by restaurant staff. Acoustics of the rather small room made it impossible to have normal conversation. It took extra long time to get our order served. Even then it was served in pieces, thus upsetting some of the people in the party. Waitresses offer to take off $5 off the bill was a nice gesture, but too little too late. Food quality was in between average and good, however long wait and loud guest spoiled the experience. We did not stayed fro desert, and at the bill time, build-in automatic gratuity (20%) was little insulting. We selected restaurant based on reviews, and had high expectations and were looking forward to experience. Needless to say we were greatly disappointed. more

Great Times 7/6/2010

I had a delicious meal at the Little Tuna recently. My appetizer was there scallop special...the sauce with it was terrific. At the suggestion from our server we went with the calamari...which is HUGE!!! It was so tender and not at all chewy. The lobster bisque was very flavorful and filling. The server told us some history on the restaurant and was very conversational. I enjoyed my time here and will be back again soon. Pros: Delicious Bread, Great Service, Wonderful Food more

Grub a dub dub 7/5/2010

My boyfriend & I were looking for a relaxing but nice place to celebrate my birthday together. We both grew up in the area and decided on The Little Tuna just to try it out. We were greeted promptly and seated in a cozy corner area. The atmosphere was comfortable and we assumed we made a great choice in dining! We had small problems early on, like not receiving an ice bucket for our beverages that accompanied us and bread was not served to us right away. Very minor. Our appetizer of chicken pot stickers was amazing, on the plus side. However, here comes the cringe part......my boyfriend had a grub (worm/caterpillar) in his broccoli! He politely & quietly got the attention of the waiter who then took the grub and the broccoli off his plate without an apology. The only explanation we received from the waiter was that the veggies were organic so bugs were common. I cringed a little bit knowing that. But then the bill came and both my boyfriend and I assumed that we would be compensated on finding the grub in his entree. To our surprise nothing was taken off. Still no apology. No appearance from a manager, owner, chef, nothing!!! My boyfriend questioned why the meal wasn't removed from our bill and our waiter responded with "" I didn't think you had a problem with it."" We were dumbfounded and annoyed with the stupidity of the restaurant. The waiter came back after ""adjusting"" our bill telling us he was given permission to remove our $7 appetizer but not the entree where the bug was found. We will NEVER again visit The Little Tuna and will tell everyone we know about the lousy experience we had. It was almost an insult to our good judgement to eat there! If you are brave enough to go to The Little Tuna, go with a stomach of steel and check your veggies and salad for any unexpected visitors! Pros: relaxing atmosphere & decent food Cons: service more

Never will I eat here again 7/3/2010

You would not believe what this restaurant did. I have been a repeat customter for years. One night I made reservations. We arrived a little early and were seated. Twenty minutes later they finally game to our table to bring us menus and give us water and bread. We ordered appetizers and dinner from their pre-fix menu. The service was so slow. After 2 hours and 45 minutes we had received our appetizer, soup and salad but no dinner. When we asked for a manager to let them know they informed us their was no manager on duty. When we let them know that we no longer wanted our dinner because it was too late and we needed to take our young kids home they wouldn't respond. I went inside and requested our bill with an adjustment since we didn't get our dinner. They wouldn't give it to me. They took another 15 minutes then brought the dinner. When we told them we no longer wanted it we just wanted the check, they brought us the check for the entire amount. Then they wouldn't speak to us about trying to resolve the bill. So we paid them 1/3 of the bill (the amount we actually ate) and left. Would you believe what they did. They called my house and threatened that they were going to call the police since we didn't pay the entire bill. What kind of place is this. Have they not heard of customer service! Pros: Can't think of any Cons: Service more

Great place, great food at the right price! 11/4/2009

I have been frequenting the Little Tuna for over a year now and the experience only gets better each time. The staff brings our drinks with the menu, because they took the time to remember us. From my husband who is a very critical diner to my pickiest 8 year old we all always walk away full and satisfied. The atmosphere is great, the attention from the staff is right on time. Bring a bottle of wine and they will be more than happy to open, pour and chill it. They currently have a $20 meal that's literally soup to dessert, don't miss out on the brownie! Go in and ask to say hi to Marcus, one of the nicest people I know! Pros: Top notch food in a quaint atmosphere Cons: That I can't go more often! more

Great Seafood Joint 7/13/2008

Wonderful dinner- even better dessert!!! Try the brownie sunday. Service was good. The place is a little small and can get a bit loud-- but who wants to eat in a library anyway. Definitely will be back. more

Big Appetite for Little Tuna!!! 7/13/2008

We had a wonderful experience. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. We had a lot of questions, due to certain allergies and he was able to answer each one and better yet, since everything is fresh and made to order, they were able to accommodate every request. When dining out, as we do quite often, we sometimes find ourselves holding off on ordering the entrees until our first and second courses are finished as not to be rushed. We didn't do that this time and were not rushed at all- everything was timed perfectly. The food was delicious- especially the Gumbo and, of course, the Wasabi tuna steak- seared to perfection! Prices are reasonable. We liked it so much we're considering hosting our reunion upstairs in their private dining room!! Highly recommended. more

Service was slow and confused 7/11/2008

I truly do not understand how this place received a Zagat rating? Must know someone because its not on the merits of this mediocre stop along Kings Hwy, or its attempt to change a slop-house into a trendy boutique eattery. more

Great food, nice location 6/9/2008

I had a great experience. I was there early so I had the waiters full attention. Loved the calamari with assorted peppers and blackened tuna. It was truly delicious and love Haddonfield downtown area at night. Bring your own bottle of wine. I think meals are realistically priced. We spent $65 on 2 delicious entrees and an app, and brought wine. more

Big ripoff at Little Tuna 1/30/2008

I'm not sure where Little Tuna got the idea to charge $24 for a dish consisting of 6 tequila-lime shrimp with garlic mashed potatoes and a handful, a little hand at that, of carrots and squash, or to charge the same price for a tilapia filet with the same uninventive sides, but it's a big time ripoff. Pros: BYOB, atmosphere Cons: Average food at outrageous prices more

So-so service, but good food. 3/7/2007

I have to say that I somewhat agree with other reviewers. The Little Tuna is always out of very important ingredients, like tuna. The service is slow and the staff's attitude is just okay. more

NIGHTMARE!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2/18/2007

To say the least!!!! So our night started with a party of thirteen women celebrating a birthday, what was supposed to be a nice night turned out to be a horror. After we sat down to order appetizers (waited over 20 minutes). We were notified that they did not have the following foods, filet, crabmeat, salmon and best of all TUNA!.... OK fine, so we had to look at the menus once more and decided on another entree. Well after taking all of our orders and not a manager or hostess in sight to come explain. The waiter came back out another 10 minutes later to tell us they had no SHRIMP!!!!!! Well this has to be a joke, after asking to speak to a manager or someone one of us were taken into the kitchen where the ""owner"" Marcus who did not even have the face to come into the dining area told one of us to order chicken or get the F**** out. I kid you not! Than proceeded to charge us for the worst appetizers I have ever had in my life. Please I beg you McDonald would be better for a meal! Pros: There are no Pros! Cons: Too many to name! more

Little Tuna = stinks BIG time 2/14/2007

I rushed home after eating at The Little Tuna, then I signed up for this website just to tell everyone one thing -The Little Tuna is a total rip-off! It's pretty bad when today is Valentine's Day, but I couldn't go to bed until I explained how awful my experience was - Our reservation was for 7:30, and we didn't leave until close to 10. Are you kidding me? Over 2 hours for a meal? Not to mention that they had a fixed Valentine's Day menu - one meal deal was $55 and the other $75. Nowhere on thier website did they mention this, so when my husband and I read their regular menu on the website (having never gone there before), we were anticipating a great meal, but actually, we spent close to $200 for miniscule filets, dry potatoes, spotty glasses, and a waitor who only moved quicky and efficiently when it was time to get the check. The best part of the night was the wine...which we brought with us. We noticed a few other couples leave as soon as they saw the menu - shame we didn't do the same. I regret that I didn't say anything to a manager but I just wanted to get out of there so badly! Pros: appetizers Cons: awful service, overpriced on holidays more

Wonderful Place 2/3/2007

I don't know when these people were there but in my experience The Little Tuna is a wonderful place. The Service is above average and the Food is exquisite. The Chef has done an excellent job in training the staff in going the extra mile. If you would like something not on the menu. No problem. Just ask and as long as they have it to make it they will do it. The menu contains everyhting you need if your craving seafood. Some people don't appreciate real seafood. I frequent the restaurant often and have never had a bland meal or bad service. I highly recommend the restaurant to anyone looking for a good meal, friendly service, and comfortable environment. Two thumbs up to personable chef Marcus Severs. Pros: Personable Staff, Attentive service and incredible food Cons: ambiance and parking in downtown Haddonfield more

so so food, awful service 6/7/2006

his place is much hyped. Pros: Location. Haddonfield is nice. more

Worst service every single time... 11/13/2005

My husband and I live local and have eaten at Little Tuna numerous times. Each time, the service is horrible and the food seems to get worse. While some of our entrees were ok, quite a few were overcooked and bland. But the thing that keeps us away is the awful service. It is definitely not worth any amount of time or money. Pros: reasonably priced Cons: service, bland food more
