A dissapointing experience with the staff 5/12/2005

Recently brought a group of 5 collegueus to dinner and had a really frustrating evening. The host was brusque and in a hurry to be done with us, the waiter forgot part of the order, and we had an uncomfortable conversation with him after we pointed it out. Veggies were fresh and food was nice, but a poor choice if service is important to you. Pros: Great Veggies, Tasty Apps Cons: Poor Waitstaff, Bad Table Manager, Brusque Host more

Reasonable and delicious dining 2/24/2005

Big portions of well-prepared cuisine at reasonable prices make Laurel a pretty nice place for a casual dinner. I had the duck and thought it was excellent, and the other guests were very pleased as well. The vegetarians in our group especially lauded the food. more

Great place 2/12/2005

I went for lunch, and will definitely be going back for dinner. The food was delicious and plentiful, the atmosphere was comfrotable and classy, the service was friendly, and the prices were very reasonable. Even their coffee was great. Pros: good value, nice atmosphere, good food Cons: menu not huge?, lime in bloody mary more

Vulger and Rude service! 2/3/2005

We waited for 10 minutes for a host to seat us, and after seating ourselves at the half empty restaurant the host finally appeared and reprimanded in the most vulgar way possible, he was completely out of line, I have never seen such rude, and inexcusably bad service in my life! more

Poor service 12/29/2004

I was there with about 20 of my friends a few days ago and although the food was good, the service was unacceptably awful! The waitress was a drama queen, making several mistakes with orders and even with the bill! When we corrected her, she basically had a mild fit. Other staff members were not exactly friendly either. Bad service, not worth ruining your night for. Pros: good food more

Superb! 5/20/2004

I went to Laurel for the first time a couple of weeks ago with a group of about 10 people. We ordered everything from steak to a vegetarian dish. The food was absolutely delicious. The service was incredibly fast, and from the bartender to the waiter, everyone was friendly and made you feel welcome. I would highly recommend this restaurant. Pros: great ambiance, afforable food, vast selection more

hidden gem! 11/9/2002

We were exceedingly pleased with our dining experience! All meals were delicious-two had the salmon, one had the NY sirloin, one had the cod and one had the meatloaf. Our table was near the window and we all commented on how low the noise level was. My only negative comment would be for the cosmos-they weren't great. The service was good and the maitre'd was great! We will definitely return! Pros: great food, inexpensive Cons: cosmos disappointing more

Price to value is priceless 11/5/2002

My friend ordered the rotisserie chicken, with honey glaze served w/ mashed potatoes & glazed carrots. Her chicken was excellent - tender and while flavorful, not overwhelmed by the spices or glaze. I would imagine she felt the same, as she left little on her plate. This dish was $10. I ordered the filet mignon served w/ mashed potatoes, asparagus & demi glace. I opted to order medium with a hint of pink. The steak arrived undercooked but the problem was immediately rectified. The steak was absolutely delicious. It was a wonderful filet, much more than the $16 entree price tag would suggest. The potatoes ... simply sublime. Mostly thick and creamy but with soft chunks of delicious red bliss. asparagus was excellent as well. The great food and classic dining room atmosphere combine perfectly for nearly any occasion, no matter with whom you dine. $40 pre-tip. Pros: Inexpensive, Good selection more

Tasy and comfy 9/24/2002

Tranquility and good food. We had 8PM reservations and the place was packed. The host was super, chattering with us until our table had been bussed and prepared. We had a good bottle of wine that was decently priced and our apps were great. (The seared Tuna and the Fried Calamari). We both had the special of the day, pecan crusted rainbow trout and the sweet potatoe fries that came with it were to die for! For dessert...ahh. Sweet bliss. We had their 8 layer trifle, a wonderful layered dream of heath bar cake, chocolate mousse and whipped cream. They informed us that they are so popular they have them specially prepared in 'to go' cups. Almost all the entrees were $10 unless otherwise noted. (our trout was the best 14.50 i've spent in ages). I highly recommend Laurel for a piece of mind that won't kill your wallet! more

Best Cosmos in Town! 6/20/2002

Laurel's is by far me new favorite restaurant. The atmosphere is very swank for a restaurant that only charges 10-13$ per entree. This is a great place to take a date, VERY GAY FRIENDLY. Order a Cosmo. The bartender says that they are his specialty. He keeps of pitcher of them available. Every single person at the bar ordered a cosmo. Now that tells you something! They are super strong and a real bang for the buck! Enjoy!!!!!! more

Better than expected.... 5/29/2002

Not only was it a relaxed atmosphere, but the decor was tasteful. The food was very good and the prices were very reasonable considering the location. The portions were very generous. I recommend it and will definitely go back. Pros: Inexpensive, Tasty Cons: Slow service more
