Great, great, great service. Nice looking ladies to boot which is always a plus. Bartender greeted us on arrival and our waitress was extremely attentive. Kudos to these guys with another smash hit. Anxious to go to their new beer bar joint down the street. When I heard these were the same brains behind Scruffy's I had to try it out. Dined there Thursday night after a show. Wings and beer did not let us down! If only there were an underground tunnel from there to Port Authority! Will definitely return. Pros: ice rail, GREAT SERVICE, Scruffy Wings! On Saturday afternoon November 14th, between 1-5 pm, a large group of us went to Lansdowne Rd to celebrate my brother's bachelor party. We received the worst service any of us could ever remember. The waitress was a young woman with short brown hair and terrible attitude, serving our table against the wall towards the front of the bar, right before the bathrooms. A few examples: when my brother told her to surprise him with a drink selection, she retorted ""I don't have time for that"" and rolled her eyes. When we tried to ask for something simple such as silverware, mustard or ketchup, she ignored us and walked right by; we then obtained these from the bar, and when she finally stopped to ask what we needed, we told her not to worry and that we got what we needed from the bar. Her only concern then was whether or not it was a drink. On several occasions she refused to help us narrow a selection of beers when we asked the differences about the beers; ""just pick what you want,"" she retorted. Another example: one of my friends beers was not finished but she took it away anyway; when he began to say something, she just walked away. Because we had a large group of people, gratuity was included; otherwise we would have left less than $1, as the service was that terrible and she was so rude. I would like to emphasize that we were not drunk and rowdy, as we were only there to watch the games and ""pregame"" for the rest of my brother's party. I kept the receipt as I thought it would have her name on it, but under server it only said ""bar."" For the several hundred dollars we poured into this bar that day, I would expect to have better service - this waitress should be fired. I used to go to this place with lot's of my friends for the most part the place and the food is Ok. Unlike most city places the staff is pretty kool. OUR one peeve is the freaking manager DJ AM. for some reason he thinks people show up to listen to him play DJ. People go there to watch the game, we don't need him putting music on between commercials. I enjoy the commercials, i enjoy the pre game talk. I don't go to a bar on football sunday or monday night to listen to music. SO SOMEONE NEEDS TO TELL DJ AM to STOP PLAYING MUSIC DURING or BEFORE GAMES. i tried this place a few times after work.. the staff is very nice but the food is awful. id rather eat my foot than eat there again.. the owner bought us a drink which i tought was nice. but we were sorry he did cause he was smoothering us at our table.. he always seems unshaven and unclean we could get passed that if there wasnt such a sour milk smell off him.. if i was to go back again i think id call ahead to make sure he wasnt there though.. I recently moved out of hells kitchen and am missing this place. Probably some of the best times I've had at a bar in NYC were the three playoff weekends incl. superbowl when the Giants dominated. This bar was rocking! The owner/DJ kicks on the music during the commericials which is very street-savvy. The owner/bartenders/waitresses are all very friendly and have great Irish service! A nice atmosphere and staff but quite possibly the weakest drinks in New York...and that's saying something. When your $200.00 bill comes and you have not even a buzz, you know you've had expertly watered down drinks. Cannot recommend this place unless you're a DUI risk. I'm part of a weekly Wednesday drinking group of 30 or so regulars who love to drink, geek out, talk and eat after work. We check out a different bar each week. We've been kicking around the city for 12 years. In that time we've visited several hundred bars (with repeats of faves). I dub Lansdowne Road a Bridge and Tunnel paradise, however, that's not a terrible thing. It's undiscovered by the hordes of Jersey bar trippers. It's so dubbed because the B&T crowd would love this place for its hometown bar feel. It's certainly near enough the Lincoln Tunnel, the beer selection is good, the Irish pub grub is decent and the place has plenty of room for a group to spread out. I've never written a review before but after many a night at this neighborhood gem I felt it was only fair to show Lansdowne some love...as they've surely shown me some! The bartenders and waitstaff are super friendly, second only to the manager himself who always makes a point to come say hi and buy back the occassional drink for loyal customers. The energy during a sporting event, especially sunday football, is awesome...even my non-sports-fan friends love it. The menu offers a ton of variety and I've never been disappointed in the food. And, not that I condone drinking alone, but on the rare occasion that I've wandered in by myself for a bite or a beer on my way home from work, I always find the crowd extremely friendly...not your typical NYC scene. I just came from Lansdown Road after our company of 120+ people descended upon the bar without warning after our building was evacuated from a fire (which was extinguished without incident, btw). At 11:30am, with one bartender, one server, a manager and small kitchen staff, they rallied to serve us lunch and drinks quickly, efficiently and pleasantly. We were so happy! The manager was awesome--he bused tables, played DJ, served (and probably cooked food, too) and arranged a buffet for us in a matter of minutes. He alone gets five stars in my book! Thank you to everyone at Lansdown for making us feel welcomed and at home after a very hectic morning. What a gem, Must have walked by twenty times before going in, and now it's a firm favorite. Great selection of Single Malts, and the bartender was well versed on them all, she was so helpful and friendly, she also turned my boyfriend onto some lesser known Irish whiskeys. Although she said she had just started working there, she seemed very comfortable and professional. They also have these great ""daily double"" deals, where they pick a draft and bottle beer each day and offer them for $3. Their food is great solid bar food with some great touches. When we walked into the place it looked like there was a huge bong on several tables. I figured it really must be a specialty bar. Then we learned that it was really BEER TOWERS, kind of like a private pillar of beer, for your own pouring. The beer selection was great, though the beers that could be served in the Tower were limited. We did manage a Sierra Nevada tower and a second of Magic Hat #9. Erica, our waitress was friendly, helpful, just great. The food was normal barfood, but not bad. The only drawback was that being a sportsbar, the testosterone level was extremely high. That means the vocal volume level was extremely high, as competing jocks were spraying the vocal trees in hopes of attracting soused females. I live a few blocks away, so when it opened I was among the first patrons. The place is very upscale compared to most sports bars, but still has the and TVs tuned to sports everywhere on every wall and a comfortable feel for anything from jeans and a T-shirt up to a suit and tie. Lansdowne Road has two distinct areas, with a front (near the long bar with beer-cooling ice rink, sit several barstools and 2-4person rounded tables) and a back (longer booth-style tables and a pool table, and of course, a dartboard). Food is served throughout, and while I don't usually eat there the food has been pretty good (sandwiches are great, although I wasn't a fan of the nachos with crab/seafood dip).\r \r When it first opened it was a hidden treasure, and when I would go I'd be one of ten people in the bar. Now it's a much more well-known spot and there's a good social scene, with singles, couples, friends, and whomever. It's basically a great bar, and the bartenders are always very friendly. We went to Lansdowne on a Saturday night. Great friendly place. The waitress made sure our glasses were full and brought us new beer it seemed as soon as we swallowed our last sip of the old one. Beer is ice cold!! The Pub food was great, the burgers and fries were delicious! They had a beer special for $3 for a 20oz pint. we tried it and loved ""Checkered Cab"" beer. Thank the owners of Scruffy Duffy's for opening this new bar. No more trekking over 8th avenue where all the tourists are. It was just TOO crowded over there. This new place is much much bigger. The food is still just as good. Wings are great and the sliders too. Don't forget about the ice rail, keeps the beer cold.\r Great place to watch football. I went a couple times with a group of 6 and was able to get a table every time. There are flatscreens everywhere so even if you end up standing you can still get a good view. Awesome new bar - and the secret doesn't seem to have gotten out yet! Not far from Port Authority and the blue subway lines, it's not bad to get to and definitely worth the trek. Every time I've been there, there's been a small crowd but nothing near to capacity - which might be a good thing because there's still room on their ice rail for your beer. There's also plenty of seating and tables to sit with a group of friends and hang out watching the game. Another plus is the menu, which is varied, with traditional pub fare in addition to items like fried calamari and salads. Plus they have Scruffy Duffy's famous wings - what is there not to love?\r \r Their extensive beer list is impressive, carrying rarer brews like Smith's Nut Brown Ale and Cooper's alongside the usual Coors Light et al. Though the beers are slightly more expensive than some other bars ($5-$7), it's worth it to enjoy the atmosphere provided here. Plus, it's New York! The digital jukebox is sure to have something you like on it, and the soundsystem is state of the art. Combine this with the ridiculous amount of flat-screen brand-new televisions mounted above the bar and all over the back room, the bench stadium seating in the front pub area, and you have the perfect place to catch the game. This is a definite departure from the usual sports bar in that the interior is really NICE - a trendy twist on the traditional sports bar mold. \r \r Combine all this with good, friendly service and you are sure to have a winner. Are you looking for a ""neighborhood"" sports bar, with a great atmosphere and good beer selection? I found one on a Friday night in September and can't wait to go back! Lansdowne Road is a great new addition to the West Side that has plenty of bar space and restaurant seating. On this particular night, it was warm outside and the entire front of the bar opened up to the street - which lured me right in. To start, it was still early, so I took a chance at sampling the menu before jumping into the beer selection. To my delight, the food was surprisingly good for sports bar/pub far, as I went with the chicken wings and sliders (mini-burgers). Although I didnt have a chance to try them, there were several other things on the menu that I am saving for my next visit (Fish & Chips and Sheppards Pie).\r \r Also, if you like watching sports on TV, this is your place. The entire bar is lined with at least a dozen, wide-screen, HDTV's. I like to watch multiple games at the same time, and the staff easily accommodated my request.\r \r If you visit Lansdowne Road, be sure to take a close look at the bar, which includes some things I have never seen before. My favorites were the lighted ice rail (that you can set your drinks on to keep them cool) and beer taps that looked as though they were made from solid ice (don't ask me how they do that!). This place is wonderful, the atmosphere is friendly and inviting. A perfect place to watch the game, with friends or go on your own and make some new ones.
