This is one of the most unethical Dr's office I have ever worked for. I am a former employee and in the 6 months I worked there the narcotics prescription pad was stolen 2x. An employee stole credit cards from one of the managers and after she got caught there was no disciplinary action and that manager went out of his way to say good morning to her and thank her for doing her job! Then lent her a large amount of money a few days before payday and she took her check and the loan and never came back. Another employee stole prescription drugs from an employee's purse and nobody cared to investigate, then the employee who was stolen from was fired less than a month later for not speaking Spanish (when they hired her knowing she did not speak Spanish). Then about 2 weeks before I quit that job the same manager lent another large amount of money to a different employee and we never saw her again. They kept having employee meetings about how we all need to work together like a team, then one day when I was all caught up with my work I noticed that the patient files were over flowing and needed to be filed. After I was almost done I was told it was not my place to file and I needed to stay in the billing department. When I quit I asked them to mail me my last paycheck. When I received it they had taken an amount for office visit w/o my permission giving me a paycheck for $0.00. I contacted the US Department of Labor and it is illegal for them to take any money out of my paycheck w/o my permission. I suggest that anyone planning on using this Dr. or working for this Dr. stay far, far away!!!! They what the ethical employees like a hawk, but let the unethical employees get away with murder!
From the US Dept of Labor website:
Q: An employee has quit and is due a... final paycheck. He/she is currently in possession of company property. Can an employer hold
the paycheck until the property is returned?
A: Even if an employee is in possession of company property, the Texas Payday Law provides that in such a case, wages may be withheld only
when the employer is authorized to do so by law, required to do so by a court or has written authorization from the employee for the deduction.
Otherwise, the employer would need to attempt to recoup the property by some other means, such as civil remedies (i.e. lawsuit, small claims
court, police report) or arrangements with the employee outside of a wage deduction.
And i didn't even take anything, in fact I even returned the scrubs they bought for me. I just had a balance for a physical exam. Dr. Lamy and his managers are a bunch of crooks!!!!!
