Best

i ate at la strada last tuesday with my cousin and we were just driving by and saw this big yellow bilding with this ivy all over and at first thought it was a mexican restaurant,...

Worst

Group of ten dinning out for a birthday event. the service was very slow, the entire time we waited not one person asked if we wanted to order drinks 39 min. later two people too...

good music and dry eggs 4/24/2005

Loved the setup, music(even though if was a little loud for noon), and crowd. Didn't care for the food. omlette's were dry, fruit was not ripe, and potatoes tasted...well, i can't exactely describe the taste. Popular place, maybe you are paying for your seat... Service wasn't bad. Pros: music, decor, scene Cons: food more

Good self-service spot 3/27/2005

We arrived at 10:55AM - the place was still closed so we had to valet park ourselves and wait in the car. At 11AM there was a line outside (it was Easter Sunday, 52F in Houston). Then we were told that we had to order an appetizer to have our mimosas - all other tables were drinking theirs - no problem. Food was brought by a kitchen staff member and left sitting on a tray - 10 minutes later we simply had to grab our plates. We were almost finished with our Eggs and things when waiter showed up to ask whether we liked everything. No apology, no check deductionon the way out we overheard two ladies saying that they were leaving after 25 minutes of waiting for their drinks to be served. Bottom line this place really needs better management and twice as many staff members (waiters especially). more

What a Joke! 3/23/2005

This place is a joke. Dont waste your time or money. Pros: None Cons: Everything about it. more

IF you're looking for a party... 3/6/2005

Look, don't go to La Strada Sunday brunch if you're not in the mood for a party. Yes, the music is loud. Yes, the food and service could be better. But it is a fun fun fun time for someone who just wants to extend their Saturday night party with mimosas, food, and music. There is a crush of people at the downstairs bar while you wait for a table but that's just the price you pay for sitting on the patio in the clubby/party atmosphere. I had a blast, but definitely wouldn't go with a hangover... would be difficult to handle. more

eatzi 11/22/2004

Sooo packed on sundays!! I had never been there before but was warned by a friend. I made sure to book reservations a week ahead of time for me and five friends. WOW!! What an awesome party. there was a dj mixing great music, the food was good and the bellinis are the best in town. Not a better place to be on sunday. I was told by the server that the normal menu was alot better than the sun brunch menu, so I went back the following thurs with date. Totally different place during the rest of the week. The food is delicious, great sevice and beautiful atmosphere. I had the veal marsala, date had a shrimp pasta dish, both great. more

I ASKED FOR A DRINK AND IT TOOK 10 TO 15 MINUTES FOR A FREAKING DIET COKE..., THEN THE FOOD IS OVERRATED, THE PLACE IS NICE AND CLEAN, ....THEN I ASKED FOR A MIMOSA........AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY WERE OUT OF CUPS!!!!!! CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS??????IN A THE BEST SUNDAY BRUNCH.??!!!ACOORDING TO WHO???? I THINK THAT THE SERVICE SUCKS!!! SORRY GUYS ...BUT ITS REALLY BAD, I WOULD NEVER EVER GO BACK THERE, I THINK THE WAITERS NEED MORE TRAINING OR CHANGE THEIR PHILOSOPHY OR THE WAY THEY THINK,BECAUSE LET ME TELL YOU: LA STRADA IS NOT...THE BEST BRUNCH IN HOUSTON. more

Save Yourself !!! 5/30/2004

Memorial Day Weekend I made reservations for Sunday Brunch at La Strada/Westheimer based on La Strada's own Best Jazz Brunch claims. Talk about a bad idea! When we arrived, we found a dark, unattractive place lit by harsh glare thru windows on Westheimer. There was no "jazz," only canned LOUD UGLY disco-sounding music. Our reservations were for 1:30PM. We arrived around 1:20 and were told to wait in the bar area. We found a table, then waited for 40 minutes without being called! The CRUSH of humanity at the bar was INTOLERABLE. Meanwhile, the back 2/3 of the restaurant was EMPTY tables and waitstaff stood idle. When I asked the hostess "When will we be seated?" she said she didn't know, but "soon." "Soon" never came. Finally, we pushed our way through the crush of bodies and left! Horrible experience - will NEVER return! Pros: NONE Cons: , Unbelievably crowded, Terrible Management more

Don't bother 5/17/2004

We went there last weekend for a birthday brunch, we had reservations and waited for 1 hour. When we thought we finally had a table it had been given away by another waitress. We then waited another 30 min., for the same thing to happen again! By this time we were buzzed and hungry and didn't feel like being put off again with no results. On the way out we tried to speak to the owner, but he would not even talk to us and didn't take any responsiblity for the lack of service. Try it if you want - but it is a bar and you may or may not get a table. Who knows maybe you might even get served. Oh and the valet parking is a joke, expect a long line for that too. Pros: None Cons: , Bad attitude, Blarring music more

Disappointing! 4/30/2004

The fire not only burned down the old building, but it also killed the original personality of this once beloved eatery. The new too cool atmosphere is stale and forgetful. What happened to featuring interesting art on the walls?? The service has never been that great, but was easily overlooked because of the excellent ambiance no one was in any hurry to leave anyway. Check please! So what are we left with to love about La Stada? Not much, well the food was still fine. Pros: food Cons: , parking, atmosphere more

Not Recommended 4/28/2004

I went to La Strada for Superbowl Sunday and was appalled that they were charging a $20 cover charge at the door to have brunch!! Next, as I was seated with my party it took 30 minutes to locate a waitress then another 45 min to get the food. We literally had to go look for the waitress. We were dissapointed with the new ambiance. The music was horrible and so was the food. I do not mind paying for a good time but refuse to pay a covercharge at a restaurant especially with this service. Pros: good location Cons: , horrible ambiance, horrible music more

Bruch @ La Stradas 4/28/2004

Since the remodeling of La Strada, the brunch is not fun anymore. Before, it was open air with fun music. Now, it's dark at the bottom and not fun at all. The day we went it was raining. We got there at 11:00 and there was a line with people having to stand in the rain. They didn't even open their doors until 11:05. Then, they rush you out by a certain time. No more partying like it was in the "pre" fire days. No more dancing on the tables. There are many more other places to enjoy brunch that's not as expensive. There are other places that have bottomless mimosas and bottomless bellinis that's just as fun as La Strada is now. Before, I didn't mind paying the prices because it was the most fun and crazy brunch. Pros: Valet Cons: , Rushed out, Boring crowd more

Great experience! 3/19/2004

We decided to drop by and check out the restaurant since they have rebuilt. There were many nice surprises. The first one was when my partner,(who is paraplegic) asked if they had outdoor dining. They responded that it was upstairs, and while I was preparing to have to sit inside they gestured to an elevator! Any place that makes their best features available to someone who is disabled is OK in my book. (You would be surprised how many simply do not care to make the effort to be accessible) The patio itself offers a great view of the neighborhood. Even though it was a pleasant and sunny 78 degrees outside, they also featured outdoor air conditioning. The food was great ! But perhaps the best thing was our wonderful server, Shiela. She was very friendly and ready to answer questions. Super sweet! We will definitely go back. more

Bad Brunch 2/29/2004

We just went to the new La Strada yesterday. It was the last time we will go for a long while. Our table was given away before the hostes could "find" us. The waiter did an excellent job of trying to keep up, but that was the only good thing about the experience. There were so many people waiting around our upstairs table that we couldn't get in and out of our seats, the music was incredibly loud, the patrons were annoying, and even though the food came out quickly, it was lousy. Pros: wait staff Cons: , bad food more

Worst Brunch Ever 2/28/2004

RESERVATIONS: They only take reservations for 6. If more than 6 people are in your party, you must make another reservation under someone else's name...and they won't seat the two parties together. SEATING: They tried seating us upstairs at a table that was getting rained on! After demanding to be moved, we were placed next to the DJ's speaker. Ouch. FOOD: Breakfast at Avalon Diner or I-HOP is much tastier for this price. The food took too long to get to the table. Even the coffee was lukewarm. MANNERS: The DJ announced that everyone who had 11:00 reservations needed to leave so as to make room for the 1:00 customers. Where else do you pay $10.95 for eggs and then get shoved out the door? VALET: It takes 20 minutes to get your car because the valet drivers are busier parking cars than retrieving them. Pros: clean restrooms Cons: , not-so-special-food, slow valet more

Horrible! 1/24/2004

I was disappointed because the reviews made this place sound like it's heavan! Makes me wonder if the critics have taste buds. I have to say it's the worst Italian food I have ever eaten! It was as if they dumped salt into the dishes and served frozen veggies. I do NOT recommend this restaurant at all. Unless you like tons of salt, go somewhere else. Also, why do they play cheezy soul music and techno? Shouldn't they be playing Italian music or some soft classical tunes? Pros: good waiters, ample parking Cons: Salty, expensive, Food not fresh more

The brunch is GREAT! 8/20/2003

The only thing I can comment on is La Strada's brunch-it is so very good! I have only been there on Sundays to have their brunch and have been at least five times and each time has been great! The food is great, esp. their bread! You must at least try this place for brunch! Pros: Food, Atmosphere, Location Cons: None more

GREAT SUNDAY BRUNCH! 2/25/2003

This is the place to be on Sunday, esp. if it's a great day outside. This isn't the "same theme" as the previous restaurant of the same name, located at monumentous Montrose area that burned down a year or so ago. I've read bad things about the place in the reviews. However, I've had outstanding service there. I will comment that they did have a snobby hostess that was fairly rude. However, the waitstaff made up for her being rude in the end. more

expierence is worth the money 8/3/2002

La Strada offers a cozy setting, good service and great food, can't make a trip to the place and not order the crab cakes, best ever. Pros: food, service, parking Cons: food selection more

Sweet times 8/3/2002

La Strada... I give it two thumbs up... I just got back and me and my date had a wonderful dinner... the atmosphere was charming... nice romantic setting.... the waiter was very personable... when the food came out we were in awe of how attractive the food looked... then as we took bites .. we found out that it was as good as it looked... then the best part of the evening.. the dessert tray.. make sure you leave room for dessert.. I kid you not... there were about ten different items on that tray and each one of them looked absolutely delicious... we decided on the white chocolate mousse with strawberries and raspberries... it was nothing short of heavenly bliss... in conclusion... me and my date had a wonderful experience and would definately recommend this restaurant to others. Pros: Nice atmosphere, incredible dessert more

bottomless 6/23/2002

i know that la strada is going through some remodeling because of a fire BUT it's worth the wait for the brunch on sundays. expect a wild crowd who is drinking a lot. be careful for the bottomless mimosas and bellini's; they're really strong but very tasty. funky party music flows from the speakers and people dance around the restaurant. it's best if you come with a big group. make reservations early because sunday brunch fills up quickly. Pros: fun crowd, great drinks more
