Not Impressed Bad First Impression 6/29/2009

Our first impression of this restaurant was terrible! A few weeks ago we decided to try out this restaurant as we travel to this area a lot. We were waiting in line for at least 10 minutes (which is normal for a Friday night). Finally, our table was ready. The problem was the manager/owner wouldn't let us go by because he was having a conversation with someone so they were blocking the doorway! They wouldn't move 2 feet so we could get by, I asked twice!!! After a few minutes and their conversation was over, we were allowed to go by to our seat! I would have left right away except for it was Friday and dinnertime so we stayed, against our better judgment. The food was terrible; the pizza was almost burnt and not that great. The tripe was terrible and my husband didn't finish it. My fish and chips were very good and the service was pretty good. I found the treatment by the manager/owner to be totally unprofessional and we will never go back to that restaurant. There aren't that many restaurants around there so I am sure they will always have customers but hopefully none will be treated as we were! Pros: fish and chips good, service good Cons: rude management more

Unfortunate 1/8/2009

After reading several positive reviews, I decided to visit La Hacienda with some friends. First, my friends beer, which was in a bottle by the way, was completely flat. The owner was gracious enough to replace the beer but not before he tested it himself by pouring it into another glass. While we waited for our food we listened to some very disgruntled waitresses complain about their boss, not withholding any obscenities, of course. I ordered spaghetti with bolognese sauce. Now, I've ordered bolognese before and I know what it looks and tastes like. This sauce was basically just finely ground meat... no tomatoes, no veggies, no flavor, no nothing! It looked like poo and I bet you can guess what it tasted like. I ate two bites and sent the plate away. Aldo, the owner, refused to take it off my bill! It was a full order and cost over $15 dollars. Then, to top it all off, he doesn't accept credit card! I had intended to treat my guests, but I was embarrassed when my guests had to pool all their cash. I will NEVER return to this establishment. more

Fantastic Pizza - best ever for miles around. 7/29/2008

This is the very best Pizza outside of New York City, and it is right here in Niagar Falls. I have been coming to La Hancienda for 20 years, and have even had cravings to the point that I asked the restaurant to Fed Ex some pies to my home out of state. This Pizza will have you wanting to make a second trip the next day. And the Beans & Greeens soup (something of a local specailty) is the best available anywhere. I have made many an extended trip to Niagara Falls just to savor this incredible pizza. Pros: Delicious old family Italian recipes and ingredients Cons: Pine Avenue location more

Man I miss the pie 1/20/2005

Grew up eating at the old LA Hacienda(better atmosphere), but the present place still has the best pies in western New York and very friendly service. They still remember me when I come home from Florida. Pizza is killer with lotsa cheese and perfect crust. Just add lotsa oregano and you have a pizza pie made in heaven. Pros: friendly staff, fast service, great pies more

Great flavors 12/6/2004

This may be considered a pizza place, and the pizza is good, but everything else we tried was delicious, authentic italian. The soups were incredible, because it seems they are made fresh daily by the owner, and that is what he eats. Ravioli was very tasty, and the Beef Brasciole was like butter. Excellent red sauce. We ate there our first night and had to go back again. Now I crave a trip back, just for the pasta y fagiole. We tried a small pizza the second night and it just like those gourmet pizzas they sell in the newer brick oven places. Right in the heart of little Italy, with very easy parking on the street. The decor is spanish for some unexplained reason. I asked if it used to be a mexican place, and they said it is an old, long story. Next time I'll ask. Pros: delicious, home cooking, good parking Cons: , no credit cards more
