I love this place. The service isnt the best, but the food is worth it. more

Authentic foos 4/13/2012

I love the food at La Frontera, the service usually sucks but the food and prices make it worth it. I like to get take out. more

after so many years its time to close this joint 12/26/2011

After so many years of loving their smothered burritos we fell in love with the more varied and authentic Red Iguana. We thought we'd go back for the old times sake to the original La Frontera. OMG! The place stunk of cleaning fluid. The patrons were scary. The service was terrible. The order was messed up. All would have been forgiven (it is a ghetto kind of place) but the food was just terrible. I will never go back. The Red Iguana is just so fantastic, with their mole sauces etc., not to mention a variety of margaritas, that even a 1 hour wait is worth it. more

mexicans that can't cook mexican food ?? 9/8/2011

Well from the condescending waiter to the fact that they do not know how to make ,huevos rancheros,a mexican classic.I was not impressed at all.It was clean at least which is what the token one star is for. The soupy mess with no tortillas under the eggs wasn't great.I guess they figured a couple of gringos wouldn't know the difference. But I have been cooking since age 9 and can cook good mexican food,as well as many other nationalities cuisine. The prices are low but I guess there is a not-so-positive reason for that. more

AWESOME FOOD CRAPPY SERVISE!!! 11/26/2010

THE FOOD ROCKS THERE'S NO DOUBT ABOUT THAT BUT THERE SERVERS AND CASHIERS SUCK. LAST WEEK I MADE AN ORDER IT TOOK THE CASHIER ALMOST 40 MIN TO GET MY ORDER READY AN WHEN I ASKED ANOTHER SERVER TO HELP HER SHE SAID AND I QUOTE "" ITS NOT MY ORDER AND IM BUSY SO I CANT"" THAN SHE TURNED AROUND AND WALKED AWAY... THEY NEED BETTER PEOPLE WORKING IN THE FRONT!!! more

How could this be rated so high??? 9/1/2010

To be honest, I've eaten here 5 or 6 times. I don't care for the spices and the meat is usually crunchy. After the last time eating there I became ill within 1 hour after eating. I hadn't eaten all day either up until then. The spices to me taste like the packaged Old El Paso junk you can purchase at a grocery store and season your meat at home. Very disappointing. The only upside to the experience was the nice friendly staff. I would rather eat at a fast food place or taco stand. Really? Crunchy meat? more

Great food and service 7/20/2010

Extremely good Mexican Food (esp the Smothered Burritos, best Chile Verde on the planet!!!) 9/24/2008

Great Authentic Mexican Food. When relatives come from out of town La Frontera is a must every time..... Pros: Big portions at a reasonable price and the food is so good, esp the Smothered Burritos Cons: Price have gone up due to fuel prices but still a great deal overall. more

I use to like it...until I tried something other than a smothered burrito 9/10/2008

I'll admit I use to really like this place, but I don't know what happened lately. The prices have Pros: Smothered burritos, lots of locations to chose from Cons: You get my drift more

Average fare 8/29/2008

Average mexican fare for a place that has a loyal following. If you want flavorful food go somewhere else ,if you dont like your mexican food with not much of a kick this is your place.A liitle overpriced for what it is. The service was also somewhat to be desired. Pros: quantity Cons: quality more

La Frontera 8/17/2008

BEST Mexican Restaurant I have ever ate at. I moved out of Utah 3 1/2 yrs ago and I am still looking for a Mexican Restuarant that even compares to La Frontera. Everytime we go back to Utah, La Frontera is the first place we go! I wish they would put a La Frontera in Kansas. They would do awesome here. I LOVE their smothered burritos. PLEASE, PLEASE place a La Frontera in Topeka, Kansas, or Kansas City, Kansas..PLEASE!!! When we lived in Utah we would eat there 1-2 times a week...sometimes more!! AWESOME FOOD!!!!!! Pros: Excellent Food!! Cons: Not any restaurants in Kansas more

Best Mexican in Utah 11/5/2007

A family favorite. When deciding on a place to go out La Frontera is almost always a considered or suggested place. Come hungry because the meals are large and its too good to leave any behind. Personal Favorite: Small Combination more

La Fantastico more like!! 9/22/2007

LA FRONTERA, has been around for nearly as long as I can remember, and I can remember quite a long time. La Frontera has always had good, authentic Mexican food and lots of it for very reasonable prices. Pros: Good food, diligent service, great value, carry out service available. Cons: They do not offer home delivery. more

THE WORST MEXICAN FOOD I HAVE EVER HAD 9/22/2007

DONT KNOW IF THE RESTRAUNT ON STATE STREET IN SANDY IS ANY CONNECTION OR NOT BUT THAT IS WORST DINNER I HAVE EVER HAD. FIRST OFF I HAVE NEVER BEEN TO A MEXICAN PLACE THAT DOES NOT SERVE CARNE ASADA Cons: NO CARNE ADADA AND THIS IS A MEXICAN PLACE more

Best Mexican Food! 11/7/2005

My family and I have been going here for years we Love it!!! I have lived in other places (states) and have not been able to find mexican food like La Frontera has. I wish they would open up in Nevada and in California. They would do so great! It truley is my favorite place! Also, after taking my fiance they he now craves it as well. So we will have to make a trip soon to go take care of our craving. Oh yeah and to go see my family. lol! The best one and only one I go to is the one on S.L.C. 400 So. 1300 W. Thank You! more

Simpy the Best 5/19/2004

Anyone who doesn't like this restaurant has no idea what great, authentic Mexican food should taste like. By far the best Chile Verde burritos anywhere. Their beans are also great. The enchiladas, tacos, and tostadas are also very good. This location of La Frontera is the best. I have eaten at some of the new offshoots of this restaurant and they are OK. Sometimes the others come close and sometimes they are just mediocre by La Frontera standards. La Frontera is the best food and biggest portions at the best price anywhere. All out of town relatives always make a stop at La Frontera when they pay us a visit. Pros: Great food, large portions, low price more

Fantasic Food 4/28/2003

My favorite Mexican restaurant! 1/5/2003

The food is great and the chile verde is the best! Pros: food, service, value Cons: noisy more

The Best 12/29/2002

This is our favorite place, especially on a hangover. The food is excellent on a consistant basis. Service is questionable, but they try hard. We usually order take out and there is a language barrier on the phone occasionally. The food quality makes it worth it. Good parking, great value. Gotta go now, calling La Frontera for breakfast. Pros: excellent food, service, great value Cons: building more
