Swedish Massage 5/10/2006

This was my first time to the salon and I went for a swedish massage. The atmosphere of the salon was nice and elegant and the people were friendly. however i didn't particularly enjoy my massage there. the lady was nice but her technique was only ok and often she would massage too hard but didn't notice my tension so I had to tell her to be gentlier. the next day I was even abit sore in places. the oils used weren't that great either. still its a nice salon but I don't think I'll go back there again for a massage as I've had better. more

Brazilian 4/7/2006

I got my first ever brazilian bikini wax done with Dianna. I have to say that this was not something that I was totally comfortable with going in, however, Dianna was VERY professional and made me feel very comfortable. The procedure did hurt (I have thick hair), however, I highly recommend Dianna. The atmosphere was calm and relaxing, and the whole place was clean and neat. I GOT THE BEST HAIRCUT FROM THEIR STYLIST, JEN. I WENT IN WITH COMPLETELY DAMAGED HAIR, I MEAN PIECES WERE BURNT OFF FROM BLEACHING AND FLAT IRONING. I THOUGHT I WOULD HAVE TO CUT IT ALL OFF AND START OVER, BUT JEN FIXED IT! I COULDN'T BELIEVE HOW HEALTHY SHE MADE IT LOOK, AND SHE ONLY TOOK OFF A SMALL AMOUNT. Newbury Vs Boylston 3/20/2006

I didnt know there were salons on boylston until I walked past their sign. I used to go to newbury st for hair removal and used to pay around $80 for a brazilian. I took one of their brochures and I was surprised to see that it was almost half the price. I was very skeptical about calling but I did anyway. I came back later that day for my appointment and it was great. They did exactly the same as what the other salons did and probably even better. Newbury is overrated. You are paying double the price for nothing. more

Nice Relaxing Day 3/17/2006

I had a hour Swedish massage with Jen and it was wonderful. The room was very calming, I felt like I could just fall asleep. The pressure of her massage was just right. I would highly recommend Jen as a massage therapist. To top it off, I got a facial with Elana. I thought I couldn't have been anymore relaxed today. Great Facial 3/15/2006

I was recommended to the spa by my girlfriend. She has been going to this spa for a while to get her hair cut and colored. I wanted a facial and waxing. I had my appointment on a Sunday and was excited that they were even opened that day. I had Lisa as my esthetician. I had the best facial ever!!! And I have been to the best spas in the world! Hair Removal 3/15/2006

last saturday was the 3rd time ive gotten waxed. the first two times i tried it ive left with bruises and even got a little burn the second time. my friend told me to try la dolce vita because thats where she went and said it was a good place for waxing. i only tried a half leg was because i was scared that i was gonna get bruised again. the procedure went smooth and quick and i didnt get burnt but i wanted to see if bruises would appear later that day. I was very pleased that i didnt get any. i went back again to get the rest waxed and got the same great result. I dont know if they use better products or their technique is better but im only going to la dolce vita from now on. Pros: waxing, price, location Cons: NA, NA, NA more

I'm a recent transplant to the Boston area, and tried La Dolce Vita based on reviews here. It's a cute space, homey and relaxing, and Deana gave me the most thorough, least painful brazilian I've ever had (plus, the price can't be beat!). And I've had LOTS. My Experience 3/14/2006

I redeemed my gift certificate that I recieved for Valentines and got a massage and hair removal. The hair removal was great. I always wondered why people went to salons for this and didnt just do it at home. Now I know why. It was quick, painless, and the results were great. The massage I got was the best part. It was only a 30 minute massage but I felt like I was in heaven while I was in there. more

Im new to the area and this place was the closest to my work so I decided to give it a try. I was scheduled with Jen to get my hair colored and cut. She is the the best stylist Ive ever come accross and ive been to many since I move a lot. She gave me a cut that was, I guess, more updated and easier to maintain. Massage from Pobeda 2/27/2006

I highly recommend one of their therapists Pobeda. I have been experiencing unexplainable pain and discomfort in my lower back for more than a week. My friend suggested that I get a massage before going to a doctor to see if it would help at all. So I went to this place for a one hour deep tissue massage and it really did help a lot. The discomfort that I was feeling when I move my back subsided the next day and the pain is considerably less when I lie down or turn my back. Other than their great massage, the place was nice and the people were friendly. Highly recommended! more

wont go back for updos at least 2/24/2006

I recieved a gift certificate to go to la dolce vita salon. I used it to get an updo on my hair instead of what was originaly on the gift certificate and that was really nice of them. But the the hairdresser just did not do my hair how I wanted it. I asked for a french twist and I ended up getting something that i could have done myself and used my gift certificate for the original service. Overall I was dissapointed with my hair and I was going to a dance so it just ruined my whole day. I ended up having to go somewhere else and pay extra money. But all I'm saying is that if she cant to a simple french twist, can she do anything???? It was a nice salon just not impressed with hair results more

I wouldn't go back 2/22/2006

The spa was carefully selected for a girls days after reading all of the glowing Citysearch reviews. Unfortunately, it fell far short of expectations. To being, the room the massage was in was cold. An extra blanket was requested and brought it but it didn't help much. The manicure and pedicure left much to be desired. I had to actually request that the manicurist actually take off the remnants of the old nail polish off before she painted them with fresh color. Never mind that there she failed to notice the polish on my skin and I had to request she clean that up, too. Overall, the customer service was poor, the atmosphere was cold (both in temperature and in feeling), and the services were not special. There must be something better.... Cons: No parking, Lacks atmosphere more

Wonderful quality. I got the best hair cut i had ever gotten. Jen was amazing!! It was the first time i had my eyebrows wax and the stylist (who i forget the name :( ) was very friendly and made them look exactly the way i wanted. I highly recommend la dolce vita. They atmosphere was very calm and relazing compared to the busy world outside. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by friendly smiles, water, tea and wine! Pleasant Surprise 1/31/2006

My boyfriend got me a massage for my birthday at La Dolce Vita. Unfortunately, he also got us lost on the way there and we ended up being a half hour late. We called to let them know of our delay and if they were the least bit perturbed, it didn't show. When we finally arrived, they were perfectly friendly and accommodating unlike other salons/spas I have visited in the area. The atmosphere was comfortable yet vibrant. The prices were still very affordable even after factoring in the compulsion to tip well on an amazing massage from Mary. I will definitely be back!! Spa Day 1/18/2006

I decided to get their "smooth and sleek" spa package as a treat for myself after a long week. The brazilian wax was complete and virtually painless, but the eyebrow wax didn't improve the shape or neatness of my brows at all. Also, my legs had a couple of bruises after the wax, which shouldn't have been the case because I have thin leg hairs and don't bruise easily. The french manicure and pedicure were okay but I could have gotten a better one at a less expensive venue. I went two friends for spa treatments at this place. - staff were friendly and courteous - place was a little small but cute - treatments were very good. especially the massage and facial - had to wait a little for each other at the end Overall, it was about an 8 out of 10. i recieved a gift certificate for my birthday for 200 so i decided to bring along a friend with me to this place. the people were very friendly and hospitable, the place looked very unique and pretty, and the services we recieved were outstanding. this is a good casual day spa where you can just go out of the blue without having to make big plans for it. i will come back for another massage and try out their other services. more
