La Dolce Vita Salon & Day Spa

After my second trip to la dolce vita i wanted to take the time to write a review because i think they deserve it. I have had dozens of brazilians and have got two of the best my la dolce vita. I have referred a few friends and co workers and they are all please as well. Ask for Deana she is great. My aesthetician on newbury st left and they would not give me her contact info so i was forced to look for another salon. I had a friend recommend La Dolce Vita to me a long time ago so I gave them a call. I met their Aesthetician Bernadette and let me tell you, she is awsome! She's excellent at waxing, very friendly, and very professional. The whole procedure was quick, painless and the results were awesome! I would recommend her to everyone just as my friend did to me. Bernadette gets 5 stars and she will be seeing me regularly from now on. more

My mother and I went for a couples massage in April and had a wonderful experience. Our Swedish massages were just what we were looking for. The staff was friendly and made us feel comfortable. I would definitely recommend to anyone staying in the area. Just make sure you don't schedule a relaxing massage on the day of a big event in Boston! We were there two days before marathon and it was SO noisy with the kids races going on outside. The girls were great and tried to drown out the noise with music, but it just didn't work. We would definitely go back -this time we would just make sure nothing was happening on Boylston St that day! I took my husband to La Dolce Vita to get a massage last sunday for our anniversary. I could not get him to go alone so I had to book myself one too. The massage was GREAT and the masseuses were so nice. We both had never gotten a massage before and now we know why some of our friends have to get them regularly. We were practically drooling throughout the whole massage because it was so soothing and relaxing. I highly recommend getting a couples massage here and for those who are planning to get it, the 30 minutes is not enough. My friend and I decided to treat ourselves to some pampering for our birthdays so we booked a bunch of services at La Dolce Vita for the weekend. We both got the massage, facial, pedicure and manicure package and it was excellent. The massage part of the package terrific and we both wished that we could have had a longer one. We left that place feeling like Jello because we so relaxed and relieved of all our stress (at least for that day). I am probably gonna have massages regularly now because it definitely helps to unwind from a busy work week. This place is highly recommended. more

I gave my wife a full 'Spa Day' at La Dolce Vita for our anniversary. She came back and was hesitant to discuss her experience with me, given that it was meant to be a special gift for her. But she eventually told me about it (I think only to ensure that I do not try to send her back there in the future). She said she was amazed at the HORRIBLE service. From the receptionist all the way through the service personnel, the environment was nothing short of rude and unprofessional. I don't know about you, but when your spending big $$$ to pamper your loved one....you kind of expect them to be pampered. Not only was my wife NOT pampered, but the environment was cold (meaning personalities) and at times down right uncomfortable (she described the conversations going on with/between the service personnel as being innappropriate and unprofessional). My wife is a sweatheart, everyone loves her....so I know it must have been bad if she gave this type of feedback to a gift giver (me). If you are looking to do something special for your special person, DO NOT SEND THEM HERE! It's funny, I looked here at some of the other reviews before sending her to this spa and noticed that the majority of the reviews were positive, but that there were some that talked about poor service. I guess I assumed that I was going with the masses and that the others were issolated incidents.....now I know the truth. I've only been to this spa once but I will be certain to come back! This spa is close to my apartment so I went in for a routine Brazillian Wax with Ilana. As most ladies know, brazillians aren't the most pleasant experience, but from the moment I walked in the spa I felt relaxed. The waxing room was beautifully decorated and it even smelled great. Illana was so professional, quick and efficient. I will definitely be going back for more spa services after reading the great reviews of their massages, facials, etc. AND the prices are GREAT! I came for a spa package that was given to me for my birthday. It included a massage, facial, pedicure and manicure. I have never gotten anything like this done to me before. It was a wonderful experience. I especially loved the massage and facial part of it. Their therapist Vera was very good. The manicure and pedicure part of the package was okay but I am not really into my nails anyway. Overall, I would recommend this place to everyone especially for massage. more

I had my first experience with a brazilian wax at La Dolce Vita and did not realize just how bad it really was until I went to another spa the following month. Perhaps my technician, Bernadette, did not have much experience with brazilian waxes, but she cut diagonal lines on my skin multiple times. We finally had to stop the way early because I was bleeding so much from these cuts. I have not tried the other services, but I would not recommend this place for waxing. I am writing to rave about the services I got at La Dolche Vita. I was given a gift certificate for a massage and facial package by my boyfriend for Christmas. I decided to go on my day off and have a nice day of relaxation. They started with my facial which was great. I had never gotten one before because I do not really have any issues with my skin but it was a good experience anyway. My skin felt nice and soft after. The massage came after and that was really what pushed me to write this review. I propapbly have had 10 or more massages before but this one was exceptional. It was so relaxing and it felt so great. I wanted to extent my one hour massage but they said there was a client that was scheduled after me. The massage kept me smiling all day. I went home right after the spa and had the best sleep of my life. I have never had an effect like this from a massage. Theire massuese has got to be one of the best in Boston. My boyfriend and I decided to get one hour massages at this place to de-stress from whats been a very cruel work week for us both. It was amazing what one hour out of an entire week can do to ease our bodies and minds. The massage was so relaxing and calming that I was disoriented hours after the massage. Their massage therapist was outstanding. She made me want to fall asleep during the massage but I didnt want to waste it. She was also able to help with some pains and discomfort that Ive been having for months. My boyfriend and I decided that were gonna have to do this every month now. more

I was in this Spa last week and had a great experience. Both me and my girlfriend highly recommend it. We both had a brazilian wax (ouch my first) and eyebrow waxing, the woman who took care of us did a great job her name slips me but I think it was Diana (short black hair) ask for her. I had an awful experience at La Dolce Vita. My friend got me a gift certificate for a facial and I really don't think the woman who did it knew what she was doing. Her name's Deeanna, and she smelled of smoke and didn't tailor my facial to my specific needs, even though I asked her to and was willing to pay extra. Although the space is gorgeous, it was clear that no manager was present because the employees were loud and many were complaining about their jobs to each other. SO unprofessional! Also, I really was hoping for a complete spa experience that started the moment I entered the door, but that's not what I got. The staff was more noisy than the customers! I can't believe that a salon/ spa lets its staff take regular smoke breaks when they will then be using their hands to touch the customers. I really hope the owner sees this so that she or he will pay more attention to what goes on here, when the staff is unsupervised. Honestly, they were all pretty rude and seemed annoyed that they had to work. I'm new to citysearch but it seems strange that a majority of the good reviews were written by people who have ONLY reviewed La Dolce Vita. So, I have a big feeling that the "good" reviews are mostly fake. PROCEED WITH CAUTION LADIES!!!! Sadly, this place really proves that you can't judge a book by it's cover. ps... I just noticed that there is another bad facial review about Deeanna and her smoking. The idea that the owner didn't immediately fix the problem proves how unsupervised this place is and that customer satisfaction is not important at all. I called la dolce vita very last minute for an appointment. they were able to squeeze me in for a waxing that day. it was the best brazilian i have ever gotten! i told all my friends about it and i will be back for another. if you are looking for the right place, go here! more

After researching all spas and facials on City Search, I thought I found the best bargain- a great rating at a great price. Except, I got there and the $75 facial they advertised on their website AND brochures had been jacked up to $90- which I didnt learn until after my facial when I was paying for the service. The woman working could care less that I was upset about their false advertising in not one, but 2 places! Then, I got there about 5 minutes early and I see the asthetician (Deanna) who would be giving my facial at the front desk. I thought, great- I might even get in a couple minutes early since she was just hanging out talking to the people at the front desk. Not only does she not acknowledge my existence sitting on the couch, but she then asks one of the women at the desk if she could have a cigarette! She proceeds to go outside , smoke, come back in 3 minutes late from my scheduled appointment, to give me a facial with smoky fingers. if she wants to smoke on her own time, fine, but no need to broadcast it to her clients. To top off the experience, when i left the room, paid my too-expensive bill, and went down the hallway to leave, she was sitting at the top of the stairs, blocking the way, and complaining loudly about work to a friends of hers on her cell phone. I had bought gift certificates for two different freinds here on two occcasions without ever having seen the salon(a massage and a facial),nonetheless they both came back with such glowing responses of their experience there that i finally booked myself a massage and a pedicure last weekend. Boy was I glad I did the place was charming without being snooty or pretentious and the service was excellent !!! I recieved a gift certificate for several services from my boyfriend. I called and they were able to accomodate me for a Massage, Facial and Mani/Pedi. The salon decor was warm and relaxing. All the girls were friendly and well trained. The massage therapist (Viera) gave a great deep tissue massage and was able to rid me of my shoulder pain. The nail tech (whose name i cant remember) did a wonderful job. The Pedi chairs are oversized and comfortable with heated seats. The esthetician (Deanna) was very attentive. She gave me a LDV facial which was so relaxing and she did a great job on the extraction. She and everyone their is highly recommended. I will definetly be back soon. Thank you girls!!
