Don't like the changes made 3/23/2010

I used to love Kokomo's in the "old" Mirage, before they gave it a facelift and upgraded it. The upgrade feels like a downgrade. It's more noisy, the food isn't quite as good, but the cost is still up there. I'd say that it isn't a horrible place to go, but for a nice night out, you could do better. Pros: Nice ambiance Cons: Noisy, expensive more

Not that great for the price 2/26/2010

First, after having made reservations early, we were seated next to the serving station in a fairly empty restaurant. Shouldn't we have been rewarded for making reservations and being early in the dining period? The food at Onda Lounge was average. Factor in the price and I felt it needed to be much better. The scallops appetizer was cooked with a delicious sauce but had a sandy crunch. Properly washed scallops should not crunch. For dinner I ordered the Osso Bucco. Traditionally OssoBucco should be soft and practically falling apart. It was thoroughly under done. I had to chew and chew this tough piece of veal shank. If I were not out with others I would definitely sent my dinner back. The doughnuts and service were great though. Pros: Desert was good Cons: Under prepared veal more

Worst Restaurant At Mirage 1/11/2010

I tried Kokomos during my last stay at Mirage. The room is located in the Mirage atrium, which is a beautiful setting. Sadly, the food and service do not measure up. The food was about average which was surprising given the premium prices. Service was about the worst I've experienced in Las Vegas. I should have called my server Houdini since he kept disappearing. Do yourself a favor and avoid Kokomos. Instead, go to Capital Grille at Fashion Show Mall. You will get better food and service at similar prices. more

Excellent food, beautiful setting 8/31/2009

Very romantic in a beautiful setting, especially after dark! My wife and I dined here on 8/20/09 and absolutely loved it. Ask if a table near the jungle is available as you're next to the trees, the waterfall and the stream. Actually, no table is far from the jungle, but somehow sitting at the wall seemed special to me and my wife. As for the food, you have to try the lobster bisque, you WILL NOT regret it, but be ready to eat as it's covered will a flaky puff pastry that looks as good as it tastes. The lamb chops were the largest I've ever seen (looked like turkey drumsticks) cooked perfectly, medium rare, tender and juicy. The sea bass was also tremendous. Wasabi mashed potatoes were ordered with the lamb and a baked potato nicely filled out the sea bass. No room for dessert, unfortunately, but only because the portions, at least the portions of the food we ordered, we plenty large and quite filling. The service was a bit crowded and at times we weren't sure who our server was. I'm not one to complain about too much service, but I actually think less would have been more. Maybe it's because it wasn't packed when we dined there, but it just seemed like there was too much service. Nice problem to have as it isn't normally the case at many places, but really a bit too much. I think some of the prices could be lower, but still they aren't anything extraordinarily high, especially by Las Vegas standards. All of that being said, I would definitely recommend Kokomo's based on our visit. Well worth the trip and the price. Pros: Pros: The atmosphere, the Lobster Bisque Cons: Cons: Service a bit "crowded" more

Delicious Food Very Good Service 3/10/2009

Onda is a very nice Mediterranean bistro. I stated with a very good beef carpacio and followed with a sweet pea ravioli with a balsamic reduction. Both were delicious and I thought that the service was very good as well. I had a thoroughly enjoyable meal although I prefer Onda's sister restaurant, Olives at Bellagio. Worth a visit when staying at Mirage. more

Not Great, Not Horrible, Just OK... 11/23/2008

So it was a friends b.day & we decided to try Onda before going to "LOVE" which is by the way one of the best shows on the strip - but lets talk Onda... I arrived about 5min late as I walked into the restaurant I thought I was at the wrong place! They have this front room thats just, well, empty and very deceiving (supposed to be a lounge?). The hostess walks me back to enter this very warm d ecor room with a sunken sitting area, neutral colors, dark green chairs brick walls, interesting writting & recipes on other walls.
To start we had the shrimp cocktail & calamari the sauce had great flavor, I had the Veal for dinner and well, it wasnt the best Ive had but it wasnt bad, slightly above average & I cant remeber what it was served with since this was back in October. However, the Lobster Rissotto was enticing-ly-delicious! I would deff go back for that. Not wow'd seems like it would be a gret family restaurant however children under the age of 5 are not allowed.
Service was average, there is deff better places for italian that I would go to before going back to Onda... sorry... more

Stay Away!! 5/20/2008

On May 16, 2008 we had dinner at Onda in the Mirage Hotel prior to attending the ?Love? show. It was probably one of the WORST dining experience we?ve ever had. The lady seating us put us next to a serving station. When we commented that it was not a table we liked she insisted that it would be fine and preceded to seat us anyway with an attitude that made us feel that we better take the table or leave. Since it was a very busy night in the hotel we thought we better take the table. Regularly throughout the meal wait staff and the bus boy would open a dishrack next to one of our chairs to place food or dirty dishes on, requiring us to lean sideways or get struck in the head. As for the food, it was pretty horrible. A dish of some find of tapinade was put on the table along with bread. This was not at all bad, but the entrees were grim. We had a veal picatta which was in some kind of a tasteless cream sauce, and a veal parmesan which was not quite as bad, but the veal in both dishes required a sharp steak knife to deal with. Quite an amateurish effort considering the price. We passed on dessert. We just wanted to get out of the place. We have eaten in several upscale Las Vegas restaurants in the past few days, and this one was by far the bottom of the barrel. For the price there are numerous better dining options in Las Vegas. STAY AWAY!!! more

Loved Loved Loved the Alaskan King Crab Legs! 3/10/2008

Came upon this rest. by accident, but have no regrets! I was in Vegas for my birthday and my husband decided to take me to dinner here. We got our reservations and wound up still waiting for 20 mins, which was definately worth it. I ordered Alaskan King Crab legs and my husband ordered a prime rib and we shared an appetizer of coconut shrimp. Let me tell you, everything from start to finish was amazing! So DELICIOUS!!! My crab legs came with a lemony buttery sauce which was so rich and flavorful, (not like the oily Red Lobster stuff) The crab legs were perfectly done and tender, juicy and succulent! My husbands rib eye was just as amazing, cooked the way he ordered it, juicy, flavorful and tender. I highly recommend Kokomo's! The service was great and the ambiance was very romantic. The perfect place for a delicious birthday dinner! Pros: Awesome crab legs!! Overall a wonderful dining exp. Great service! Pricey, but you get your money's worth! Cons: Extremely busy on the weekends, so def have to make reservations, but worth the wait! more

Avoid restaurant at all costs! 1/1/2008

My family of 6 dined at this restaurant before seeing LOVE, the Cirque show at the Mirage. We knew to expect a high bill come the end of dinner, as the most expensive thing on the item was in the $50 range, but the average around $30-$40/pp. While ordering, our waitress had no problems giving us attitude when we requested drawn butter instead of lemon butter with our fish - claiming that the kitchen didn't have any. I ordered the $9 bowl of minestrone to find that it was flavorless, agreed upon by the entire table who also tried it. And when sitting down, the waitress offered that night's specials. We did not ask the waitress for specials, and this wasn't the kind of place where she hands out a card - it was a list of verbal specials, one in which my brother was interested in - the kobe beef. At no point did the waitress offer the prices of the special, nor did we even think to ask for it as nothing was listed on the menu over $50. As the dinners themselves were tasteful, the bill was not. And neither were the practices of the restaurant. The kobe beef special rang in at a total of $140 a plate - for one dinner - nearly triple the price of the most expensive item on the menu. And at no point did anyone mention this to us upon ordering. So we spoke to the waitress about it - and she assured us that it was the policy of the restaurant to not tell it's patrons prices of the specials, the customer must ask for it - even though we didn't ask for the specials in the first place. And upon talking to the restaurant manager, he agreed it was restaurant policy not to tell the prices of the specials because, and I quote, "it may embarrass the customer if he/she can't afford it." They have no problems embarrasing you when the bill comes and you can't afford it then! What a horrible restaurant - it's nothing fancy, small portions and incredibly overpriced. There are many other nice restaurants on the vegas strip.... do yourself a favor and find one of those! Pros: Dinners themselves tasted good Cons: rude waitress, horrible dining practices - deceiving more

Best King Crab I have ever had! 9/4/2007

If you love King Crab as much as I do, Kokomos is the place for you. Served along side an awesome lemon butter sauce, it melts in your mouth. The crab legs are already split open for you so no mess or fuss! I can never finish mine as they are that huge so I end up giving the rest to my husband. Another person in my party got the prime rib and it was the biggest piece of prime rib I have ever seen. Everything was cooked to perfection. Great service too! Pros: King Crab Legs are awesome--Great service! Cons: None more

I'm thinking Denny's 3/30/2007

Having read these reviews my wife and I rushed to Kokomo's for the crab legs. Being Vegas locals we are fairly hesitant to run out and try something without a recommendation from a friend or co-worker but we were craving Alaskan king crab and Smith & Wollensky, which when in season has the BEST king crab (the rest of their meny is nothing special but the king crab is fantastic) was all out so off we went to Kokomo's. When the crab arrived it's odor, yes odor, told us right away we were in trouble. It was, hands down, the WORST crab we've had in Vegas. Along with the crab we ordered a rib-eye, medium, which came out well-done. When I asked our server to give me his opinion of how it was cooked he asked me, "how did you order it?" Hmm.... We left having had not one bite of steak, one bite of nausiating crab and some asparagus, which was pretty good. Oh and a Greek salad and a bottle of Groth Chard which was excellent. But I don't think they had anything to do with that. more

Great service 1/3/2007

My friend and I joked about how the waiters were almost overstaffed. Elegant decor, and great Italian dishes, we can't wait to get back to this place to try more off the menu. more

A nice quiet change from your average Italian 10/31/2006

I have been here twice and really enjoyed the restaurant both times. Had some wonderful, stuffed lobster ravioli that were very tasty. The service was great and neither times was the place very crowded. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice quiet Italian restaurant. Pros: Quiet, Tasty, Not too expensive Cons: Can't really think of any more

Great King Crab Legs, huge portions! 10/30/2006

My husband and I dined here specificly for the king Crab legs. We both ordered them, and really, one order would have been plenty. The crab was great, the atmosphere was nice and tropical (as you would expect at the Mirage). We made the mistake of splitting a shrimp appetizer before the main course. Only a mistake as we were so full when we left there! We have ate allot of King Crab in our travels, and this was a mighty fine experience. Good drink selections also. An nice idea is to have a pre-dinner drink in the little indoor patio area outside of the restuarant and do some people watching. Hands down, we'd come again, but there are so many places to try in Vegas! Pros: Great atmosphere and King Crab Cons: None more

One Word: Tremendous 7/14/2006

The recently updated space was great - from start to finish. The food, service, wine, champagne and ambiance. We'll be back and will send others. Pros: Food, Ambiance, Wine Cons: It's in the Mirage. more

Excellent Roasted Garlic, Tomato, Balsalmic Bruschetta 7/12/2006

The food and atmosphere were outstanding. Well worth the price. People in our party thought it was all hype, then came away wondering when we can all return. Had one experience where a waiter we had suddenly was stuck with a table of 12 and we were ignored once we received our entrees. Overall, I've been there three times and I can't wait to go back. Pros: Location, Food Quality Cons: Received bad service once, but other times have been great. more

Best Seafood Steak house 6/15/2006

Kokomo's is an excellent restaurant. The service was good, the atmosphere was soothing and the food was fantastic. My friend had the lobster and lamb dish which was cooked to perfection. The lamb was well seasoned and the lobster was tendered and tasty. I had the Crab Legs and fillet mignon which was also good but if I had a choice I would go with the lamb and lobster. It is a little pricey but worth it. I plan on going back soon. Pros: Ambience, service, food Cons: price more
