Changed My LIfe 6/14/2011

At King Career Consultants I recieved the tools, tips and assistance needed to complete my job search. The long hours of interview preparation made a big difference in my presentation skills and allowed me to become a better interviewer. Before King Career's program I had no confidence in myself. I now have the ability to overcome interview obstacles and have actually dabbled in public speaking. Thank You! more

The Right Choice 6/7/2011

Job hunting has always been a headache for me, because I never knew how to approach companies, but with King Career Consultants giving me a few quick steps on how to improve my technique. I now approach companies with confidence and professionalism. more

Very Effective Program 6/2/2011

Your program was very effective. I've tryed other job hunting companies in the past and had no luck, but King Career showed me successful techniques. Thanks to you I have been working with this company for five years. This new career has changed my life in a positive way.\r more

Recent College Graduate 5/26/2011

Didn't know what kind of job I wanted after I graduated from college especially in my field, since I had no hands on experience. King Career Consultants guided me in determining what I wanted to accomplish and helped me make the right career choice. more

Maybe worth $500 but certainly not $3000 5/24/2011

If you judge them by time spent and assume their time is worth $50 / hour I guess technically the program is worth $500. If you judge by results, I can’t even value it at $500. I have good advice…go to the bookstore and buy the book “what color is your parachute” (job search guide) and “how to make $1000 / minute” (teaches how to negotiate your pay). Those books will give you better training than King does and it cost you $20. Then, utilize Linked In to network yourself. Incredibly, Jerry King hardly knew what Linked In was, much less how to use it. Jerry is a nice guy but the King Career program is almost valueless in today’s world. more

An enormous waste of money and time 5/20/2011

Before I started Jerry King promised all kinds of wonderful things. A whole lot of hoopla and grand (three grand actually) claims, and I have nothing to show for it. My suggestion? Ask for a lot of RECENT referrals. When asked for some recent referrals Jerry said - we don't allow prospects to talk to people that are currently in the program. Don’t settle for that answer. Get lots of recent referrals or walk away. There is no doubt in my mind that twenty years ago this place did great things. Unfortunately, it is now not only archaic but a lot of people are throwing hard earned money that they could be using to live on right down the King Career drain. The resume they supplied me was 1985 vintage, the training was merely common sense and the ""network"" was either imaginary or incredibly cold. An enormous waste of money and time. more

Happy with the job! 5/18/2011

I am happy and satisfied with the professional career search program of King Career Consultants. They teach, coach, market... and get results. I referred a friend and have used the skills I now have to help my nephew get his first job out of college. I see the negative comments - I believe the expectations were well covered and I personally benefited from the work done. Thanks Jerry Brandon W. more

Don't pay them a penny up front 5/15/2011

If I could afford to do it, I would dedicate my life to making sure nobody ever paid King Career a penny. Just take this advice…if you are considering hiring King Career, insist on getting the names and phone numbers of at least 10 satisfied clients that have gone through the program IN THE LAST YEAR. I should have had my head examined…before I paid I asked for references. They gave me 3…two never returned my call and the third said he had been through like 8 years ago. I hope you read this before it’s too late. Don't make the same mistake I made. more

Review on Reviews 1/29/2011

The best advice I can offer, is to take every ""excellent"" review with a grain of salt. Most companies are aware of these types of sites and will ask employees to create accounts and give their own company amazing reviews. Most of the time reviews that make the company sound amazing are really its on employees. more

BIG waste of money 8/20/2010

My advice...don't pay these people a thing. If you do...get a money back guarantee or agree to pay them after you are satisfied with their performance. My guess? You never will be.\r \r Perhaps in the old days this place was relevant. more

Outstanding Experience 5/28/2010

Thanks to King’s help I I landed my position much quicker. According to averages, about 9 months quicker. The interview coaching and outstanding resume focus were critical. The expertise in prospecting, contact methodology, networking and interviewing have proven to be invaluableand the powerful network provided me outstanding openings. Can't thank them enough. Pros: Valuable advice and powerful network Cons: N/A more

My primary goal is to offer fair warning! 5/8/2010

To: ALL\r \r My primary goal is to offer fair warning to King Career’s next potential victim. King Career preys on people during what has been call the most stressful thing that can happen to a person short of a death in the family i.e. unemployment. \r \r King Career’s method is a classic bait and switch con. As any good conman would, King Career tries to cover their “switch” with a contract for less than what was originally presented to the “mark”. All the better if they have marketing material tied to the contract of course the mark never sees that material. The simple fact is the presentation or “hook” is designed to portray a much higher level service than the contract stipulates and the company is capable of delivering. Puffery is allowed when presenting one’s product, but, not to the level of actual misrepresentation.\r \r If I hire a builder to renovate my kitchen his opinion that the contract has been fulfilled is not a shield for shoddy workmanship, ineffective methods and poor execution. I hold King Career responsible for the same level of workmanship as I would any other tradesman.\r \r Examples of what I consider substandard work: (1) a list of recruiters that included telephone numbers that did not work and one company that had been sold three years prior. (2) I spoke to Jerry King himself about marketing to recruiters in the Greer to Anderson SC area which includes Greenville and Spartanburg SC. Jerry assured me that he would develop this list himself. I received a list of four (4) recruiters. I assure you that there are more than 4 recruiters in that area. It was at that time that I knew that King Career was a waste of time. (3) Jerry alluded to his inside tract and personal network that included the top 50 fastest growing companies in Charlotte and King Careers ability to market to same. After speaking with the Top 50 Companies there was no inside tract the material sent on my behalf from King Career was simply an unsolicited resume.\r \r In my opinion companies like King Career are shameful con artist taking advantage of people at a very vulnerable period. No better than the Funeral Home Director that sells an overpriced coffin to a grieving widow.\r \r Sincerely,\r \r \r King Career Victim\r Cons: Classic bait and switch con more

Thank you Jerry and Kip 2/23/2010

Working with King Career was the smartest way for me to become successful in my search. You helped me learn how to learn to sell myself and it paid off. My new analyst position is only 3 months old, but it is a very rewarding experience. Pros: interviewing skills Cons: not applicable more

Excellent results...honest people 2/22/2010

They showed from day one that they know what they're doing and they really care. Jerry and Kip were fantastic in the training. I learned so many transferrable skills, I know every job search from here on will go so much quicker and net such good results. The nice thing is, I can use King Career as often as I like.\r \r Honestly, if you are considering a job search or are in the midst of one, just give them a buzz. You'll see what I mean. Real professionals that care...for a change. Pros: great training, great network, they really care Cons: didn't experience any drawbacks more

This company offers a worthless guarantee 1/25/2010

Jerry King of King Career Consultants says when you sign up they will guarantee you a job or you can come back for life for assistance. This company is a scam and should be investigated. They can't even write a resume correctly...I had to re-write their resume after doing all of the groundwork and detail for my resume. This company does not even provide postage for your mailings to these so call good prospects. Jerry King claims he has contacts in all of the companies in Charlotte, N.C....He has none...he did not provide me one contact. They give you a standard list of Top 50 companies which I could have gotten at the local Library had I known what his program was all about before I gave him $3,500. This so called executive search program is no more than someone handing you a list of companies to call or send a resume and then, follow-up with a thank you letter. This King Career Executive search program has no value whatsoever in a search for employment. I contacted all those companies on the so called confidential list and all the employment agencies on King's list and guess what.....I got no response from anyone and no interviews. I didn't get one interview...not one. This whole program is a joke and in the future I hope this will help someone avoid the mistake I made and not give this crook $3,500. They should be locked up for impersonating an Executive Search Firm and for carrrying out a scam. If I wasn't so embarrassed about being taken by this con artist...I would go on T.V. and disclose this company to the public. They feed on people who are desperate and out of work.....The King Career Consultant program is a hoax....do not give this company $3,500 or any amount of money. It is not worth $1 must less $3,500.\r \r Beware!!!! Cons: Many more

Would not have found new job WITHOUT King Career 7/30/2009

Simply put, I would still be unemployed without the help of Jerry King and his staff. I left the financial industry in early '09 after 15 years. After meeting Jerry, I realized I needed his help to capitalize on a competitive marketplace. He helped me create a strategy to open up new opportunities I never considered. I started on my position on July 1. Pros: Created an effective marketing strategy Cons: time involved more

Shady business and certainly not worth the money 1/24/2009

This company has the nerve to charge $3,000 to conduct a job search for you. Give me a break! The worst part is they want the money upfront. How shady is that? How do you know they will even do any work on your behalf? For that kind of money there better be some sort of a guarantee. If they collected payment from you once you landed a job that would be one thing. Then at least you know they'll work on your behalf because they want to get paid. To ask for $3,000 upfront is crazy. I would never give away my money like that. Don't waste your time and money with a place like this. Pros: None that I can see Cons: Ridiculous cost and no guarantee more

Do Not Use! You have been warned!! 12/30/2008

This group did the very minimum to aid in my search. They sent me generic leads of companies that were hiring, not specific positions that needed to be filled. There was zero filtering based on my skills, interest or work history. The majority of the positions weren?t even in Charlotte. After 3 months of their ""help"", I could not attribute a single interview to their efforts. KCC advice was actually used as a reason to dismiss me during the interview process with one company (I have the emails to back it up!!). When I confronted Mr. King about the ineffectiveness of his firm, he simply dismissed my concerns blaming me that it was something I was doing wrong and asked me to leave his office. Do not get burned like I did!! You have been warned. more
