We love this kabuki. They operate faster and generally give better and generous cut of sushi. Our favorite is the kabuki roll and the kids love nabeyaki udon more

Love it! 4/15/2007

Kabuki restaurants are great places to get dinner with friends or family. Their delicious dishes can compare to any high-priced sushi restaurant in Los Angeles. Pro: the edamame are free. Con: they boil their edamame too long, so they have a pea-like consistency. more

overall great restaurant, waay crowded on weekends, o.k. service 2/21/2007

I dont like the valet parking so i just park on the street behind the restaurant. Its too bad that they dont take reservations on weekends, but if you've ever been there at night during the weekend, you will understand why. It gets reaallly crowded, the amount of people on the waiting list is crazy! I just went today, it seems like their doing a mini remodeling. It's going to look great. For a great experience, i always try to go when it isn't too busy, great for a cheap and quick lunch when you're having a sushi craving; again, expect to wait during weekends. Its not too bad though. The regular sushi and rolls can be small sometimes, but great variety and taste, i recommend Mu Sake =). Service has been great for the most part, they have a new manager. When it's busy, its understandable. After all the servers have to wait for the kitchen and chefs. It's modern, casual, and intimate. Not exactly the most romantic place but, depends on the person. Large selection of drinks, new drink menu too! i love it. great place to bring your family. OVERALL its great, if you are a regular you'll notice the service can be inconsistent, but thats why i remember who i liked, and i just ask the host/hostess who's working and i tell them who's section i want to be seated in. Don't be cheap and jip them! especially if you had a good experience. They do remember the jippers you know. Trust me, i've worked for a while at several different restaurants, i know what its like. If you can't afford it then why would you be dining out. When you jip the tip, the server has to owe money, so they lose money on the table =/. On the flipside, if you had a bad experience, then tip accordingly. Being me, i still tip 10% always if i get bad service, 15% for good service, 15% + for great service. but thats just me. Pros: remodeling, casual, family friendly, great overall Cons: valet, more

Sushi is okay, service is terrible 9/8/2006

I think the owners need to hire more waiters/waitresses; the hostesses are also very rude. In the restaurant's defense, the spider roll is very good, but unfortunately, that's the only good thing I can say that's good about this place. Pros: Spider Rolls Cons: Horrible customer service more

Sushi 8/15/2006

The quality of the food and services has increasingly declined with each of my last few visits. First we waited 45 minutes to receive the first order of sushi. Then when sushi began to arrive the quality was very poor. For example, the Mackerel was dry and the meat in the salmon-skin roll was barely present very hard. \r \r Kabuki is officially off my list of Sushi restaurants.\r more

lower your standards 11/16/2005

Great location to eat if you are only interested in the pirce of your dinner. The half off sushi is half the size and taste. As for service, there is none. Expect to wait a long time for whatever you need. Also, don't go late. They are not open as late as they say they are. The closing time on the door and the large open sign are justed used as decorartion. They stop serving food long before their closing time. Pros: price Cons: service , food, hours more

Horrible Service.. Worst Dining Experience 9/16/2005

This was the worst dining experience I ever had. The service was horrible! We were celebrating a friend's birthday so we told our waiter to sing a birthday song for him. We waited for 10-20 minutes, no one came. So we told another waiter about it and waited for another 10-20 minutes, still no one came. After looking all over for our waiter, we finally stopped him and asked for the third time. We waited again with no result. We thought maybe because they were busy and that's why they didn't do the birthday song. We were about to leave, until we heard a few of the waiters singing for another table! So we tried one last time, but of course, they never came by our table. This was the worst service I ever had. It totally ruined the birthday mood. We will definitely never come here again. Pros: Inexpensive Sushi Cons: Horrible Service more

Awesome Sushi! 6/21/2005

This place has great sushi and attitude. They are fast to bring you in and takes a bit to get your food, but its worth the wait! The 1/2 off sushi lured me in and caught me and all of my friends. Truly, I would recommend this for all! Pros: 1/2 off Sushi, Great Sushi, Good attitude Cons: food takes some time more

Stinky 3/10/2005

The sushi is not bad, but only worth it if you can take advantage of the half price special. For some reason though there is always a wait which is good since it lets you get used to the fishy smell before you sit down to eat. The service is spotty at best. The new Old Town location is much better. more

service sucks, sushi's ok 2/1/2005

Went on a saturday night with a group and were seated within 20 minutes. Their 1/2 price sushi is a pretty great deal, with lots of sushi for $2.50-4. The only catch is that each person has to order at least 3 rolls. That's not a problem when you're hungry but one person in our group just wanted to try 1 or 2 pieces so our waitress didn't count him for the final order. Midway through the meal, she came up to our table and said we HAD to order 3 more rolls because she saw him eating more than 1 or 2. He was just trying a few, but she wouldn't let that go. The quality of the fish is not excellent, but just average. However, one thing, stay away from the crab and vege roll!!! It smells like the bottom of the sea...not a good thing... Pros: cheap sushi, good parking Cons: stingy service, fishy smell inside, crab/stirfry vegeroll more

Japanese food is not always light! 11/8/2004

The appetizer and main dish were brought to the table at the same time. Later when I told the waiter that an appetizer should come first he said it was almost impossible to do because the employees were new and there were over 70 working there. The calamari eggplant appetizer was swimming in oil and because I ate the appetizer first, the shrimp and vegetable tempura were somewhat cold when I got to it. The shrimp tempura was also soggy and the batter too heavy. They do give you four shrimp, which is two more than other Japanese restaurants. Unfortunately it is just a lot of heavy batter. If you want to fill up on big portions and are not discriminating, then eat here. Pros: parking more

Mostly Misses, For Me 10/11/2004

In several visits to Kabuki, it's been mostly lower than my expectations. Last time, the toro hand roll was cheap, but the fish was chopped, still frozen, and the seaweed was no longer crispy. It does have a larger than usual half price selection. Choose carefully. more

Rude Service and Sushi...ehh 10/6/2004

Sushi..ok. People who went crazy and went overboard about how good their sushi are the people who haven't been around much eating sushi. Very rude service. After spending over $200+ and paying them over 20% tip, the hostess asked us to leave. Right after I signed my check. I was so upset. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THAT RESTAURANT. I DON'T RECOMMEND ANYONE GOING THERE EIHTER. There are plenty of sushi places w/ better suxhi and better service. more

Not Bad 8/21/2004

The food was good andthe prices were reasonable but it wasn't as great as I thought it would be. However, the service was decent. It is a fairly typical Japanese restaurant. more
