John the Muffler Man

Had my first experience there yesterday. Couldn't be happier. Staff is very helpful and they work fast. Saved me considerable money. I will be using John the muffler man for all exhaust related repairs from now on. $25 oil change is pretty good deal, too. more

I went in for a oil change and they were not helpful, they had a longer waiting period and did not demonstrate good customer service. I will never o there again. more

After reading most reviews, I can see why that all of these people are quite pleased. Without any appointment, on a Saturday morning 10 mins. prior to opening their doors, they had 3, 4, or 5 customers waiting already. I was one of them. I had a tailpipe and muffler piece (one unit) just dangling from its hangar short of hitting the ground (a '01 Ford Escape). The flange's bolts had finally broken away from corrosion in the harsh Wisconsin's winters. John The Muffler Man's shop said, "Come and take a look." I did and the tech showed me and explained that we can just put a new gasket and bolts it together again. I said, "Great, let's do it." From start to finish they had me out of there in about 45 mins. - 1 hr. and charged me only $47. There's no fancy waiting area (but adequate enough) unlike a car dealership. However, there's NOT the extraordinary high prices either. Anyway, some other place may have tried to sell me an entire exhaust system! Or, at least a tailpipe piece more

Gone there three times now and have drove away happy every time. It's true that they don't take appointments, but I just drop my car off and go visit the museum or something. When all is said and done they have always saved me money compared to the estimates of other places, even when I include the price of lunch and admission to some tourist attraction. more

JohnTheMufflerMan is my favorite place for Car Repairs. One time my power steering belt broke and had to have it fix during a snow fall. I had the option of going to the car shop a few blocks away from me in N Farwell, but decided to drive all the way to JohnTheMufflerMan since I trust them. My arm was a bit sore but As usual, super friendly customer service and very very fair price!!! Many thanks to Mike, Trever and Mr. Emery! Thanks guys! more

I called some shops about putting on a aftermarket muffler and tip. I have 2010 corolla and some places were telling me i'm crazy for changing it out with only 1600 miles. It's my car and i do whatever the hell i want. So i looked up a few places and john had some good reviews. Talked to trevor on the phone and i told him quality was my biggest concern no matter where i went,price second. Said not to worry and he was right. Done just the way i wanted it. The area is not that bad. I drove from waukesha county to get this done. Also no questions about not buying it through them. Thanks for the good work and service, and to trevor the tech who did it. On the lift within 5 minutes. Showed me the problem. Gave me a quick quote. Able to do the work immediately. Did only the needed repairs. Final bill just under quote. I was skeptical based on the location, the name, and that with so many good reviews it sounded like they might be writing their own. However, I left a believer. I would recommend this shop to anyone. Service was very good while I waited. Price for replacing a catalytic converter was over $200 less than CarX. Show appreciation for this savings by tipping the service tech more

I was kinda skeptical seeing all the high reviews for this place, but like everyone else, I was extremely pleased with the job they did. Went in here with a broken exhaust pipe. Another shop had told me everything in my exhaust system needed to be replaced and it would cost nearly 500 bucks. I came in here, 30 minutes later my car was on the lift, and within 25 minutes they had replaced the small piece of exhaust pipe that was broken. Total cost 50 bucks. Needless to say I was happy to save $450, and was happy that they showed me exactly what was broken, told me how much it would cost, and then did just what they said they would. I would definitely use this place again and recommend it to anyone. Pros: everything Cons: no reading material i the waiting room, bring a book. more

First off the place is not in the best of neiborhoods, however it is safe enough for me and for the work they do and rates they charge I am willing to risk it. That brings me to just what I think of them. They do a first come first served kind of business which has its pros and cons, a pro is that you never wait all that long if you come at a good time (first thing in the day for example) a con is that you wait if you come when everyone else comes. I needed a exhaust system on my 11 year old truck and just didn't want to do it myself as I did in the past. So, I shopped around for prices and found ""John the Muffler Man"" shop had the best prices. I figured I'd try them out....they gave me a free estimate, showed me what was rusted out and how much it would cost to fix. (which was very reasonable compared to other shops). Staff was very courteous and did the job very promptly.... I was out there in a very short time.... Pros: price, frioendly and couteous staff, quick service Cons: waiting area, but then it IS only a muffler shop more

Having been a mechanic for a number of years, I appreciated this shop. They are doing it right here, the shop is well organized and the staff is obliging and efficient, not a prima donna in sight ! Pros: Clean shop, pleasant and efficient staff, good prices Cons: None really, muffler isn't highest quality, raspy exhaust note more

After loosing my -entire- exhaust system in the construction nightmare of Milwaukee, I was worried that I was going to have to miss a couple days of work waiting to get my exhaust system replaced. I wasn't going to be able to make the trip back home without it as 5 hours in a horrifyingly loud car wasn't an option. After calling around, I found a place that was open on a Saturday and after explaing the situation to the friendly yet incredulous employee on the phone, I was told to bring my car in as it shouldn't be a problem. In short, these guys kick butt. They were all very friendly and jovial and had a laugh as they really didn't believe me when I said I had lost my entire system. They had me up and running within an hour and were able to do the work for less than the initial quote. I can't say it enough, these guys seriously kick butt and I recommend them wholeheartedly. Pros: Very friendly and efficient, great group working here. Cons: It was REALLY hot today and the waiting room didn't have AC. Oh well, can't have it all. more

They have the best, fastest, and cheapest exhaust repair that I have found in the city. They quoted me a price over the phone. I drove in with no appointment and they replaced everything behind the catalytic converter in about 20 minutes. more
