I purchased four tires from Jimmy Duckworth and also had the motor replaced for my automatic front window. The owner, Jimmy Duckworth, was very courteous and helpful, and the work was completed professionally. I had previously received quotes for this job and his prices were significantly lower. I appreciate the fact that as a woman and unfamiliar with car repairs, I was not taken advantage of. I highly recommend Duckworth Tires for car repairs and tires. more

This guy gets it done. He's honorable, ethical and good at what he does. And he's smarter than the average bear. If you want a mechanic who will tell you what you want to hear, go somewhere else. If you want a mechanic who will tell you the good, the bad and the ugly on the way to keeping you safely on the road, this is your guy. A true institution. The one star is to many for them. I stopped by to get a price on tires for my Wife's Range Rover. You can't tell what is a shop or show room. They had a 1931 Ford Model A roadster in which I thought was the show room, I looked at it and this ass of an owner came and told me to get out, and insulted me, a simple, can I help you or this is a shop area, and we don't allow customer here would have been a nice way to deal with a possible customer. I live in old Metairie and though I would do business local, but this is one place you don't want to give your money. Anyone this rude and crude, has to be greedy and dishonest also. His being an ass cost him $2,300. Never go in this place, I knew his Uncle and know why they split, his Uncle was a fine man, so why give your money to such a jackass. more

After purchasing 4 Michelin tires from Jimmy Duckworth within the last year, I returned last week to have him check out an odd noise and shimmy I was feeling, possibly from one of the back tires. He asked that I leave it so that he could test drive it and determine if it was a tire problem or mechanical. After leaving it with him overnight, he told me he refused to look at it or test drive it because he could tell someone else had worked on it recently. A speed sensor was replaced a month before, but was not at all related to the new problem. With a very sarcastic tone, he told me that i needed to find one person to work on my car. I had never heard of such a thing. I find it hard to believe that all of the cars in his shop have only been worked on by him. I will never return or recommend this shop to anyone. more

We dropped off my daughters car to get a leaking tire fixed, from the beginning the tall man with glasses was rude and stated, ""you're gonna leave it here longer than you'd like"" I called the man back an hour or so later, because I was not going to be back in Old Metairie until after closing time (5pm) and wanted him to leave the keys locked in the car. Another hour later, (around 4) we figured out my son could pick up the car, so he called to confirm when the car would be finished, the man said to my son, ""We haven't even started on your car and I've already told your mom twice that it won't be finished until closing time."" I proceeded to call the man back, and tell him to forget it, and my son would bring it to GoodYear instead. The man then hung up on me THREE TIMES and said that he wouldn't speak to me, ""only your husband."" Then, as my Husband and I left to go get the car, my son who was at the shop, called and said he had to pay the man to put the tire back on (they had obviously gone to work on it quickly so we would have to pay them) so we could take it elsewhere. This is a scummy, low life place who treated me zero respect and acted as if I were not worth his time, especially since I was a lady. NEVER GO TO THIS PLACE. So much for New Orleanians going local. I really wanted to shop local and after calling Duckworth's on metairie road, I am going to sell out and go to Firestone. The person who answered the phone treated me like I was wasting his time, and was unwilling to look up my car make in order to determine which tires to recommend. The last time I went to him for advice, he charged me $20 and would not accept a credit card. I agreed to send him a check in the mail. The next day, he called my place of work and got my boss on the phone to ask me to bring in the $20 payment!! So much for shopping locally! Pros: good location Cons: angry owner more

These guys do good work and have fair prices. Period. I've used them for years. I think the truth lies in between the two reviewer before me. First, I don't think you can get a accurate review from a family member of the business... The main guy over there is a total grouch and lacks personal sklills - the thinigs we've come to expect in 2007. I dislike places we're people give you attitude for giving them your business. There are plenty of other place to give my money to. BUT, it is a freaking garage and this is New Orleans/ Metairie for Pete's sake. This is by far the most amazing friendly family owned business that I have ever been to!! I love the Duckwoth family, and my Grandfather started this business. I think that whaever loser wrote the bad review on the front page is a total jurk and has probably never even been to Duckworth and Smith Tire Co. I highly reccomend going to this shop for any tire problems. And to the folks who work at Duckworth Tire Co, keep up the great work, and remember that Jesus will always be with u, so Don't get frustrated no matter how many terrible reviews u get. I had the worst experience here at Duckworth Tires located at 1009 Metairie Road. Avoid going to this place at all cost! I can honestly say this place delivered by far the worst customer service I have ever experienced in any industry. The owner/manager was so unbelievably rude and disrespectful to his customers, I was thoroughly disgusted and left the establishment. I would not recommend this tire place to my worst enemy!
