Worst

OMG!! I left my animals (two small dogs) for two days (even left my own food) and the bill for boarding was $100!! For that price, I'm going to stay with my pets as I can't afford...

Substandard Care 2/6/2012

I have used the Island Pet Hospital for three years. I tried many times to work with Dr. Goldman, however when I arrived for my appointment I would be told I did not have an appointment scheduled. Sometimes he just did not come in on time so they gave me Dr. Watson. When my 3 year old dog was in critical care Dr. Goldman was going to reduce her dose on the meds too quickly. The hospital that she was in told me that Dr. Goldman could have put my dog in organ failure. I was so glad that I chose to check with the critical care hospital before changing her medicaiton protocol. The hospital suggested that I find another Vet. Pros: null Cons: null more

The support the staff showed for us was heart warming. Its so nice to not feel alone at a time like that. Dr. Wattle spent her time with us, and made sure we understood our options and we came up with a plan to keep her comfortable. This is a great place with really caring staff. more

LOVE! 3/8/2011

I have been taking my dog to Island Pet Hospital for a little over a year. Each time I have taken her in the staff have been wonderful. The doctors are more than wonderful. Dr. Goldman is so patient and takes the time to explain EVERYTHING to you. They really focus on preventative care. Super clean facility. I wish I liked my kids' Pediatrician as much as my dog's Vet!!! more

THE BEST 4/3/2010

My wife and I found Dr. Goldman, 12-13 years ago, at Pet Smart and we knew right away he was a very special person. He took care of our dogs, african grey (who loved Dr.G calling him chicken boy), pot bellied pig, and desert tortoise for nearly 8 years. He was/is the best vet, in our thorough opinion. Now that my wife and I our living in Michigan, we've also had to give up Dr. Goldman. He created a bar so high we find ourselves comparing every vet to him. And, nobody compares to his care and knowledge of our kids/animals. We still debate whether we should start driving out once a year for everyones yearly checkup (He is that Special). more

Doctor Goldman is great. 12/22/2009

Great guy, loves animals, and really helps me when I end up with a sick rat or two. I am not entirely sure about his partner who also is there, as the one time I saw him, I didn't think too highly. Goldman is knowledgeable, friendly, and you can tell the guy really loves all the animals around him. Great place, and besides the partner, I've never had a problem. more

Veterinary service at its best! 7/7/2009

We have been going here for years. Dr Toby Goldman offers the best pet care you can ask for. He helped us through some very difficult times with our last dog. When it comes to medical care for your pet, he will give you every option available but will never force you to have unnecessary procedures. This past month we had our dogs teeth cleaned and they did a fantastic job! Their prices are a little high in my opinion, but my dog is worth it! I would definitely recommend them to family and friends. more

DON'T GO HERE 5/8/2009

My dog was attacked by three others dogs. Both of her hind legs were chewed up. I rushed her to the Vet's office and he stitched her up and kept her over night. I picked her up Wednesday, the next morning, and she was doing ok. He explained to me because of the puncture wounds I would need to push the fluid out of the wounds and there would be an order to this fluid. I asked him why he was not putting in drain tubes into the wounds, and he said that it would be more expensive, she would be fine with out the drains. I took her to work with me everyday to keep the fluid drained out of the wounds, and I thought everything was ok until Saturday late afternoon. I called him because she would not get up and the wounds were stinking from an infection. He told me that was to be expected and to bring her in Monday. Late Sunday she started screaming in pain, I called the Dr. office and they tried to contact him so he could call me back. I never heard from him so I carried her to the truc more

Caring and compassionate! 5/6/2009

We recently had to take our beloved cat, Twinkie, to be put to sleep. He was still very young, but had cancer. Naturally it was a very upsetting time. The staff put us in a room immediately so we could have some time with him. They offered us treats and toys. They were so caring and gave us all the time we needed with our baby boy. Dr. Collins was so compassionate and took us step by step through the whole process. They really made such a terrible moment more bearable. They even sent us a condolence card in the mail. I highly recommend this clinic to care for your family members. more

It's all about the money!!! 3/6/2009

I too had a very bad experience lately with the staff. Called to board my animals and was given one price but when I picked up my animals the price was higher. A few times I made appointments I was asked if it was for a deceased pet that was in their system even after being told the animal had passed away! Sent one of my animals to get neutered and discussed with the Dr. to remove dew claws while my dog was under. This wasn't done, although later I saw that the Dr. noted in the chart, and I ended up having to put him under again to do the procedure. Being a long time client (9 years and 6 pets) I thought I should take the time to let the office manager of my problems. She (the Dr.'s wife) was rude, offered no apologies and even told me that I should take the blame for not double, triple checking to make sure I got the right price and the right procedure done! One of the BEST Vets Ever. 2/17/2009

I LOVE Dr. Collins. He is more than willing to listen and explain what is going on. I wish he was a people doctor! Ha ha.. I think he has a crush on our puppy. She loves going to the vet because he's so cool with her.\r \r I saw Dr. Goldman for the first time today and he was beyond helpful in explaining everything.\r \r I've been going there for a while and the doctors who were there a year or more ago were kind of bad.. They've left the office though. The office staff is usually pretty good, but I think they know us by now.. they can have their off days just like anyone else and they are usually super busy. I am more than willing to put up with a sassy receptionist if I know that my pets will be taken care of.\r \r Their prices are pretty good too and they understand that people don't have hundreds or thousands to spend on pet care. \r \r I would recommend them to anyone. more

Island Pet Hospital is AWESOME! 2/7/2009

We've been taking our little dog, Teddy to Island Pet Hospital for about 2 years. Teddy actually gets excited when we pull into the parking lot! Dr. Collins is the best, and we love him! Wonderful Clinc 1/28/2009

I've been reading the reviews here, and some of the bad ones have been shocking. I wonder if they are not confusing Island Pet Hospital with another clinic. I have been bringing my pets here for many years and love seeing both Dr. Collins and Dr. Goldman. Every-time there has been an emergency with my pet, the wonderful staff has rushed my pet to the doctor. The front desk staff, are the best, they treat me and my pet like family!! I recommend this Island Pet Hospital to everyone!! more

I would not take my pets anywhere else. The staff and veternarians at Island Pet Hospital are always compassionate and caring. They go out of their way to call after hours to see how my pet is doing. I have seen two doctors and both are top notch. more

Amazing staff 8/30/2008

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Island Pet Hospital. Their staff is friendly and knowledgable, the doctors are sympathetic to our needs and greet my pets and me with enthusiasm and genuine smiles. The medicine practiced here is second to none and I wouldn't think about taking my pets anywhere else. more

I've read some bad reviews on this page and am surprised. I've been taking my cats to Island Pet for 8 years and my experiences have all been good. Me and the Kitties especially like Dr. Collins who has a great manner about him. more

Horrible 7/13/2008

I checked in my dog there when we going on vacation and noticed a friends dog there and we put our dog in the cage next to hers. When we came back and picked up our dog they told us she barley ate and they didnt do anything about it. Then we found out our friends dog had died while it was there! So we never went there again. more

Front office staff..... 5/1/2008

I love Dr. G . All my family go to him, but the front office girl that I have been talking to on the phone and dealing w/ is very rude and personality (void.)This can destroy a business. more

Pet Boarding 11/16/2007

Another bummer, this facility has no way you can pick your pets up on Sunday, so you guessed it, another night's charge!\r \r On the positive side the boarding staff are really good and interested in the animals. Great Caring Doctors and Staff! Nice experience! 7/14/2007

I took my puppy into see Dr. Goldman and he spent a long time with me going over everything! I got the feeling they were interested in me and my pets and everybody was warm and friendly. The facility was clean and busy, the staff friendly and this hospital came highly recommended and lived up to it. Reasonable fees too compared to neighboring hospitals I had used and not been impressed. \r I will continue to use IPH without question. Solid place to take your pets! more

Awful Experience! 3/22/2007

I trusted this vet clinic to help my husband & I w/ the process of moving our 3 cats to Japan due to a military move, big mistake! Even though I took the paperwork informing the vet of the required steps to import the animals w/ me to the appointment they still messed up. As a result, I ended up having to start at step 1 again w/ a military vet, then when I informed them of their mistake they refused to reimburse me any of the $230 I spent at their clinic. I would warn anyone thinking of using this vet since they clearly have no idea what they are doing or are willing to rectify their mistakes! more
