The Worst Experience Ever 1/6/2007

After seeing the "B" rating on the door, we decided to go in anyway, after all IHop was a chain, and how bad could it be. Well the food was cold, the bread soggy, our 5, 8, and 9 year old could barely choke down their breakfast and after removing the what seemed to be a pet hair off of the hot chocolate mug, I couldn't eat mine. What made matters worse was the owner. After mentioning to him upon paying our bill about the food temperature and how unpleased we were with the meal, he asked me why I didn't blame the waiter who served it to us. He went on asking about why I blamed him, when I simply wanted to let him know how he could improve his service. I wasn't looking for anything but to tell the owner what I thought he might want to know to improve business. I have never been treated so rudely. I find it amazing that someone in the customer service business could be so rude and unconcerned towards the customer, especially in front of children. We have definitely learned our lesson regarding any restaurant who does not get an "A" rating. more

This Has Become the Place To Not Stop For Breakfast 7/3/2006

When we traveled to Big Bear for the weekend we use to always have breakfast at IHOP. I don't care for some International House of Pancake restaurants, and this is one of those I don't like. I use to, but not anymore. It is not popular anymore and there isn't a wait when you arrive. That should tell you something. Also, the restaurant has a B rating. The staff is not friendly. The waitresses are not attentive. The decor is still the same, but the owners are not keeping the restaurant clean. The bathrooms are not clean. And the food is not suitable for eating. I hate to think what is going on in the kitchen! The new owners are not interested in satisfying their customers. They ignore you. They have no interest in improving the restaurant and don't want to hear your suggestions. We will never go here again until it has new owners and is improved to the quality it use to be. There are many other excellent restaurants you can go to for breakfast in Big Bear, but please ignore IHOP. You will be completely unsatisfied and wished you had never spent any money there when you are done. For a resort community like Big Bear Lake, it is too, too bad that IHOP has gone down hill. It is located right as you are entering The Village, which is an excellent location for the tourists who have come into town. You can eat and then stroll right down the street to see the shops in The Village. The restaurant building takes up the whole corner. This land could be used for something a lot better than this IHOP! And, here I use to think this was the best IHOP I had ever been to. more
